That changed the second the bill arrived. Buried into the check was a 7% "kitchen surcharge." In other words, the restaurant decided to pass along kitchen payroll costs directly onto the customer without being upfront about it. If you're not paying close attention, you could easily end up tipping on top of that surcharge as well, essentially paying an extra hidden fee without realizing it. At a restaurant positioning itself as upscale and classy, this came across as incredibly tacky and cheap. Pay your staff properly and price your menu accordingly instead of sneaking surprise fees onto the bill at the very end. That's not hospitality. That's the kind of nickel and diming people expect from budget airlines, not a supposedly high end dining experience. It completely ruined what had otherwise been a nice night. We were seriously considering coming back before this happened. Now we won't return.

Somethings were very unique. The staff had time to answer questions and apparently Saturday was so mobbed that they had a lot less time for each, than what I got today. There were food products, specialty sauces, cooking tools and so much more. Shirts, aprons, tote bags and other branded items. There were a few small electrics like a bread machine. It is worth the experience to visit this extraordinary shop! The building was formerly the Power & Communications Building, which Cheese Importers took over in 2012. The shop is gorgeous, and the buyers are fantastic, stocking it with so many beautiful items that you will not easily find in other shops or online. The staff is friendly and informative. The prices are very high, and I don't recommend buying items you can find in your local grocery store or gift shop, but if you find interesting, unique, and beautiful items that you love, then it is worth spending the money, in my opinion. This is a great place to find exceptional gifts, especially for someone who likes to entertain. Must take home a fresh French baguette and some caramels!
