Whenever I need a vegetarian version of something, or some more obscure ingredient, I can count on Good N Natural to deliver. They have limited produce, but it's fresher than the Key Foods and most of the produce bodegas. Similarly, the dairy case has a variety of vegan milks, yogurts, cheeses, etc, but it still a pretty small section. Where they really shine is with dry goods, like cereals, snacks, pastas, mixes, etc. I can always be inspired for dinner by making a quick stop in Good N Natural and, if laziness overwhelms me, they have lots of great frozen dinners and pre-made foods in the back! There's also a great vitamin aisle with every type of vitamin you could imagine. If you need something and they don't have it, you can usually get it ordered. They also have an aisle dedicated to shampoos, lotions, and even organic toothbrushes, etc! Also, in the back they have lots of new age healthfood books that are fun to peruse. (Although I'm pretty sure if I need a book that big on bowel cleansing, I shouldn't be relying on a book in the first place!) Typical hassles that come with city stores: the aisles are narrow and crowded, there is no clear place to stand in line (and if there is a long line, the aisles become even more crowded!) Guys are constantly restocking, even at peak hours. And sometimes things can be hard to find (not in the aisle you'd expect). And of course the typical hassle that comes with any "natural foods" store: prices are a bit steeper than your local grocer. Overall though, if you're looking for veg options, a hard-to-find ingredient, or just want to mill about and enjoy that "health-food store smell," Good N Natural is the place to go! Super lucky to have this in the hood!

Good N Natural has everything you want. The service is great and they are very knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable and they are vegan friendly. I have been shopping here for years. Their produce area is well stocked and are fresh. You can get fresh peanut butter on the spot.

(Just after Shake Shack, Look for the Verizon store on the front corner of the building) Plenty of parking in the rear. When you enter this beautiful store, fresh organic produce in abundance are presented. Prices are on par or even better than Whole Foods. I love their self serve bins of bulk ingredients especially the nooch! Iykyk! The cold refrigerator offers an abundance of healthy options, love their plant based vegan products such as yogurts, milks and cheeses. Found my favorite jackfruit brand of frozen ingredients. Lots of vitamins offered for healthy living. Freshly grounded nut butters. Gluten free options aplenty. Healthier snack options like chips, ice cream, nuts and lots of chocolates. We've been going weekly and I can confidently say The staff are always amazing! So helpful and insightful. They offer a coupon book which can easily be used in store. Complimentary hot coffee is offered for shoppers making for an enjoyable shopping experience. Definitely worth the extra effort off route 17 south to explore this local gem of a market!

It's a little hard to miss, however you can see it once you've entered the shopping center. Family owned and operated since 1987. Think of Whole Foods, much less busy, not a whole lot of rushing (which is a good thing) and you take your time to browse around the smaller store. The quiet and calm was cool, for a Thursday evening, not too shabby. We came across a lot of products we haven't seen before. Great options from a vast majority of gluten free to bring your own containers for pasta to help reduce waste. Plenty of signs to look at and read what we can do to be proactive with our bodies, lifestyle and the environment. I loved knowing this was a smaller scale. We accidentally forgot our reusable bags, however bought a new MOM'S insulated bag. Until next time, we will be back!

You can get to H.I.M Ital by hopping off 233rd on the Bronx River Pkwy then drive up from there. But I was already in the area so drove under the L which got me there quick. In a borough where Vegan is hard to find, H.I.M specializes in Grains (pasta and rice), meat substitutes (which I always pass up) and obviously- Vegetables. Looks are deceiving- noticed a small counter with a stool or two up front but seems more for takeout meals than anything else. Maybe because it was so early in the day, most of their hot foods weren't prepared yet- so decided on what was readily available- a bowl of 1/2 Kale & 1/2 Okra which was very nice. Both items were seasoned sensibly and was nice to change my palate a bit. Also noticed all their dry herbs and natural elixirs available. Sybil is so friendly and gave me info on most of the selection as well as detox beverages. In the end, price for my super healthy and hefty 2-Veggie plate plus a few ounces of detox dry Herbs, was just $11. I was all over the spirituality mindset H.I.M provides. If you're in need of a serious health reboot, go for their Caribbean Vegan food. And even if you're not Vegan and you just feel like breaking up the week with some meat free meals, this place celebrates everything Ital (Vegan). Let me just say, H.I.M is armed with a healthy supply of clean eating and nature-focused way of life...and I liked every bit of it. One Love!

So one Saturday afternoon, I finally stopped by with my mom. The space itself is airy, with like floor-to-ceiling windows that let in beautiful natural sunlight. The sun hits these whimsical, almost 18k-gold-looking sculptures on their shelves, giving the shop an elevated feel. The shop is small- but it's the kind of place where you want to slow down and really look around. Manahel offers a nice variety of Yemeni honeys, each with its own benefits. I ended up choosing a ginger honey and another infused with lemon, while my mom went with the ginger for herself too. In addition to honey, they also carry oils for hair and skin, which was a nice bonus and made the shop feel more holistic instead of it being one-note. Let's talk price- it's definitely on the steeper side. The smallest jars I purchased were about $30 each. For me, it felt like it was for the greater good- especially since I teach and my students are always sick. It was quality, intention and something I'm actually using for my health and wellness. There are still a few other items I have my eyes on. Honestly, Manahel feels like a 3-in-1 spot where beauty, their tradition and wellness come together- and that to me, makes it worth to return.
