I go to Good 'n Natural every two weeks. Usually, I just purchase produce -- it''s very fresh and the person in charge constantly keeps the veggies well watered. My only complaint is that NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING except for Henry and he doesn't come in until well after 12p. If you ask about a product, you're given the same answer: "Henry comes in after 12p." And, when purchasing greens, I have to tell the cashier what she's ringing up!! The agitated lady at the cash register is just that -- high strung. It's a shame because it can be a much bettter store especially since there's no competition in the area. But, maybe that's why they're not. read more

A great health-food store, in an unexpected place! I wandered into Good n Natural while exploring the Bronx, and was pleasantly surprised to discover a fine shop indeed. Not only did they offer a great selection of organic foods and quality supplements, but the prices were uncommonly low, at times less than one would pay online (and in NYC?!?). I'm all for a good health food market, but this store sucks! The produce rarely looks fresh and the prices are above and beyond market value. But that's not what leaves me dissatisfied. There is no sense of urgency!The cashiers move like they're walking thru molasses. And the only efficient associates are helping out on the floor. There's no reason it should take 10 minutes to ring up two people. And although this isn't my primary market, when I'm in the area it's convenient. I'd rather travel all the way to Brooklyn and back instead of stepping foot into place. They need more staff asap! read more

These guys right here have everything and are very knowledgeable. Sometimes you just need to cleanse the body from toxins and all the crap we put into it. Stop in if you're looking for a spot in the Bronx. My family enjoys shopping here (when funds allow) to stock up on our pure coconut oil, vitamins and other supplements. Decent selection considering the size of the store, but their markup is insane. As a lot of other reviewers said, lines can be long and checkout can be slow. That being said, they are an oasis of natural foods in the area. They carry a lot of great stuff I cant find anywhere else. read more

There is a guy named Henry who is super friendly and seriously the most knowledgable herb and supplement guy I have ever met. He has without a doubt saved me a few trips to my naturopath. Until the bx gets a trader joes, good n natural is as good as it gets. Some things are overpriced such as the Jamaican black castor oil. Other products are great buys such as the lily of the dessert aloe Vera gel (16 oz 5.99) and the apple cider vinegar. Generally, I've had good experiences in this store. Customer service is decent & the store is overall organized. In sum I'd choose this small store over pricey whole foods any day. read more

Last week I had oral surgery and needed a nutritional supplement since I will not be able to chew food for a while. Saturday, I purposely went to this store because I have been going since the 90s and had excellent help in the past...but it's not the same. The two women working fin the front as cashiers were just plain rude and dismissive. I asked where I could find what I needed and they were bothered that they had to look up from their phones. I could have gotten what I needed at the Vitamin Shoppe (and paid less!!). The owner was in the store having a personal conversation and when I told him that the women were lacking in customer service...he really didn't seem that concerned. But did ask me to come back. As far as health food stores go, this place sells top of the line goods. From frozen foods to juice, cereal, vitamins, snacks... comparable to Whole Foods but with a smaller crowd and only the best brands. If there's ever a product I cannot find here I will be shocked! read more

Good N Natural is my sanctuary. They have everything from coconut oils to medicinal teas, and fresh produce. its such a great mini market esp. in the Bronx. I am so grateful for this place bc whole foods is waay to far and expensive. & as of recently I found out they accept ebt food stamps. They carry every DR.Bronners product. So many chocolate bars. I see myself shopping here for a long time. I recommend this store to all my family and friends. Good and Natural is a Health Food Store in the Bronx! Yeah! This is a great local alternative to going all the way to Fairway's or Whole Foods. They have a good selection of healthier food-grains, veggies, cereals, toiletries, vitamins, dairy...I go there to get Petguard food for my cats. The staff very knowledgable and know their product. You can ask them questions about what is good for you. They don't carry meat but I am finding organic beef and natural chicken in some of my trips to Costco. read more

There aren't many health food stores in this area. Actually, this might be the only one. There's no Trader Joe's or Wholefoods around here, so Good 'N Natural is as good as it gets when it comes getting organic, natural produce and products. Although it isn't a big store and has narrow lanes, they have a wide variety of products. Most of the fruit stores around this area do not carry organic fruits and vegetables which is unfortunate. I am thankful that they are still in business because then I would have to travel a long distance to get to a natural food store. Their vegetables and fruits are fresh and well stocked. Love this place. When I can't get to Whole Foods, this is the place to go and it's a short walk from my house. They carry a little bit of everything but it's really just the basics that you need. it is a small place and been around longer than I've been breathing so I'm grateful it's around. My main gripe is the elderly lady cashier. She is the slowest cashier I have ever had the displeasure to suffer with. She is constantly distracted by other employees and neglects her cashier duties. She means well but is horribly inept at her job. It is a very busy store at times with a long line waiting to check out. At those times she should not be behind a register. Other than that, it is a well run store with a good selection. However the prices for many items are too high. Needs to be more competative. But its like in the movie theatre snack bar. You are a captive shopper as there are almost no other decent health food stores in the vicinity. read more

They carry all the essentials you need and it's kind of a gem since when one thinks of an organic grocery store they do not necessarily picture it being in The Bronx underneath the 2 and 5 trains. I had been coming here for years and everyone there is always busy and happy to answer questions. But, a few times I have left less than satisfied. They do not really check their dates on the things they sell as frequently as I'd like nor do they take great care of their produce. I LOVED that they sold organic peaches and enjoyed the flavor of them... Until I bought a few that were rotten when I cut them open. Also, if there is an error on their part sometimes it's hard to get an exchange, let alone a refund. I bought some cookies that were about a week past the expiration date and came back 15 minutes later with the box, bag and receipt and had to speak to several people before getting to the owner. He wasn't too happy I wanted a new box of cookies and seemed skeptical the entire time I spoke to him and explained what happened, like he didn't believe me or something. He wasn't even sorry that something had gone past it's shelf life was still stocked there. What if there were critters in it? What if I had gotten sick? I know it's just cookies, but it's the little things that matter. Needless to say, I don't shop there anymore. It tends to be a bit overpriced as well, but they do sell vanilla beans so that's kind of a plus, right? read more

I wish I could give ratings based on categories for this store. My overall rating is three stars. As one of the only natural/health food stores in the Bronx (especially in the NE) it is a blessing for those who hate having to trek all the way to Manhattan or White Plains for organics, etc.. The store is typically well stocked & has a decent selection, considering it's size but, this store can be extremely overpriced (Whole Foods will sometimes have lower prices!!) & the grouchly woman behind the counter can be, at best, irritating!! Naw, the woman can be rude and crass when she wants to be - I seem to only shop there when she is working! If their prices were lower I would have given 4 stars, but hey why lower your prices when you have absolutely NO competition! If the crabby woman retired or took some of the herbs in the store to sweeten her disposition, then I'd consider a 5 star rating. Overall, as the only natural store in this area of the Bronx, it's not bad at all. read more

I'm unable to pass by here and not issue a comment. This is a decent store, and I was quite happy to find it. There is another organic market quite close, but really you cannot compare them. This store has supplements, and vegan choices that are hard to find without going to a large commercial store such as Trader Joes or Whole Foods. The cold section is somewhat small, but also I should note that they have expanded this section recently, it seems. They are a fine place to go to find natural home and pet products. And their tea selection! While it is no larger than other stores, they carry all the mixed teas for whatever ails you. ie: flu, sleeplessness, digestion. While I know how to mix my teas for medicinal needs, quite a large number of folks do not, so this is a welcomed section. They have a fair amount of "snacks" as well, with a rather decent nut selection. It's well worth the stop here. read more

While they have a great selection with overpriced prices they have horrible customer service. I witnessed them telling an older woman that she couldn't get the items marked as priced because it was higher in the system. They then proceeded to tell her that she probably changed the price even though it was all marked that price on the shelves. The manager ended up telling her to get out because he doesn't feel like arguing and he's not changing the price. I ended up putting my 2 cents in and told them that it is their fault because they put the tickets on and they have to give it to her for that price and being that their such a small store they should be more respectful to the customers so they would want to come back he told me to mind my business. He did end up giving it to her for the price but told her to leave the store and that nasty old cashier was saying negative things too. They will never see a dime from me again. I will also suggest no one support them either clearly they are all about the all mighty dollar and could care less about anyone's health much less their feelings read more

Out of my constant going of this place, the staff has been recognizing my face. I became well acquainted with them, until I met the owner. The man is seriously in it for the money. When I asked for advice on natural remedies for rosacea, he starts by showing me an herb, then moves on to selling me a book on alkanized diets, which is a total quack, to apple cider vinegar cures, which I don't believe there is ever anything to be called a "cure-all". I am a firm and strong believer of natural medicine, but I don't believe these crazy diets are honest. The owner made me feel like I needed to buy it, or else my health will deteriorate. I don't know if they have any financial problems, but I don't like to be pressured to buy. Their prices are outrageous, considering I saw a pack of dates for $10, and found the same thing at an Asian grocery store for $2.99. I rarely go back, as I have found an excellent health food store called Forever Young at Kingsbridge. It is a very small store with a staff of two, the owner and employee. It lacks a refrigerated section, but it is very well stocked with all the dry goods and herbs. I highly recommend going there as they do not pressure you to buy and even if you stop by to ask any herbal questions, they are very knowledgeable and more than glad to help. I go here every 2 weeks...and this store though small has a wide selection of vegetarian foods. From Natures Path cereal, to Tofurky, Nasoya brand Tofu, Tofutti ice cream bar, Romaine lettuce, Bok Choy, alfalfa sprouts, vegeterian beans, and brands like Bionaturae spaghetti, Veganaise, as aforementioned Nasoya Tofu Silken and Extra Firm, Silk Milk, and much more. When I turned Vegan and bought soy milk first I tried the Silk brand and others but stuck with Silk. I payed nearly $5.00 in my local supermarket, and got it here for about 3.79 same as in many other Health Food Stores even in ,Manhattan. It pays to be informed. You can get some of these things elsewhere, but they would be more expensive if the place is not a Health Food Store. Yes a bit pricy here for some items, but worth it considering it's for your health.The staff here are so pleasant and informative....So don't be afraid to ask questions You can find almost anything here health food wise, even books....they're not returnable after purchase though. read more

If my grandmother were alive, she'd be very impressed with the fare offered at Good n Natural. Growing up, we were fed a vegetarian diet, and as i got older i grew away from that practice but i never forgot the wonderful meals my grandmother prepared. I searched for the products i grew up on,for quite some time, one because i craved the flavorful foods of my childhood and two, i wanted to get back to a healthier way of eating. I tried searching the Internet and calling every health food store in the tri state area . only 2 had the items i desired and to my great surprised, i only lived a short distance from one of them. that was 3 years ago and i have been a loyal customer and have since brought may of my church family to them.
