The first of November…read morewas on comforter care with Saint Luke's The RN was pushing Hospice which I disagree with the RN, Talking big about it, it took two weeks to get a wheelchair to the house. Then no protective gloves were sent or mouth swabs. Never once came to do care in the morning, never sent a CNA or Tech, only got one bath a week. My brother-in-law was told that was all Medicare allowed. Every time I was there eyes crusted shut, mouth full of crusted. No oral care ever unless I did it. Was at the home when the RN came to place the catheter, which she could not see to do. Left three days later on the weekend RN came to place the catheter, not sure if she explained to her caregiver how to take care of it, I had to show and tell him. less than four days got twisted and started flowing into her body. I was the one who cleaned her up and told him to call the RN. The dispatch said "I don't think we can get an RN there today. I went off yelling in the phone you get and RN here now. Body fluids have been running in her for hours, someone from your office needs to come NOW. As soon as hospice took over and started pushing as many meds as possible she kept saying she was not in pain they kept telling my in law ,her husband to keep giving them. He asked me about her breathing ,it's really heavy at night. I told him it was the liquid Morphine which she could stop breathing at anytime it numbs the nerves. I brought food over every time I came she ate like she was starving. Was not choking all soft foods. They stopped feeding her. I ask to see the care plan she wrote out with her husband and the Hospices RN would not and could not show me. I looked in the folder that was not even filled out and no hard copy. By November 24 just after midnight she passed away. Just discussing, worse care I have ever seen.

They were there from the very beginning, helping with paperwork, helping me through the difficult times. They did an fantastic job. I would highly recommend this service for anybody who has a loved one in a care facility. It is more than just an extra set of eyes on your loved one. They provide not only a service, but also some of the basic care items they oversee medication's, they oversee personal care. And when it is time for the hospice care, they are with you all the way through until the end. They have volunteers, unpaid volunteers that will come and sit bedside with your loved one and you to help you through the very difficult time of the passing of your loved one. This is a free service. There is no downside to this at all. I am a very skeptical person and I am telling you this is for everyone. I can't think these people enough they made a very, very difficult situation much more tolerable. Period.

One girl, Carrie, commented, she did not know why Harbor Hospice Doctor was even giving my mom pain medication. To which I had to explain the illness. Thank goodness Harbor Hospice Dr. knows about the illness. Sarah, who was our main contact person...she failed to do paperwork when my mother went to 5 day respite stay (to try to convince my mom this would be better for her). Because Harbor did not fill out medication paperwork, the nursing home could not give my mom any medications. (Pain meds every 6 hours and my mom alerted me at 7:30 in the morning-- in pain). I changed hospice companies and now, Harbor hospice is lying to me about filling out paperwork for moms LTC insurance. I was told harbor did not have a corporate phone number. I googled it and found it. Now dealing with corporate to get paperwork needed. I do not recommend harbor hospice. They might be ok if your parent has 1 week to live, but find another company if longer.

We had many issues with our Mom's care at Care Haven. They stage the homes for people looking for…read morea place for their loved ones, but the normal day to day experience for the residents is not like that. There was only one excellent geriatric caregiver during the time our Mom was there. Most of the others were mediocre - two were poor. One was abusive. More time was spent in food prep than in helping with the needs of the residents. Families of residents don't want to complain because of how that complaint will potentially affect their loved one's care. They are stuck in a house without much to do but be stuck in front of a TV, with rare outside activities, no crafts, no reading, games etc...but the meals were good. Our Mom needed help eating and was not given assistance except by the one wonderful employee- who was only there 3 days a week. You are at the mercy of the one person who works there - who is just hired to fill a vacancy. I could say more, but keep looking.

After having experienced other rehab facilities, we were so grateful to have found this facility and team. Our onboarding meeting was buttoned up, informative, and covered ALL the bases. The entire team delivered wonderful, wonderful care -- a MAJOR change from where we had done rehab previously which was heartbreaking and on the verge of downright negligent. Major bonus points for the food and expansive menu, which our mom said was consistently delicious (again, unlike other places where she could barely stomach what was served). I was also so impressed with how clean the entire facility was, and how attentive they were to keeping our mom's bed + clothing + linens always clean (any accidents were dealt with IMMEDIATELY). We had a horrible experience. One night there was a nurse that was so incredibly rude and…read moredismissive to both myself and my mom (the patient) that I spent the night because I didn't trust the nurse to give my mom the care she deserved. I asked for that nurse to not care for my mom in the future. That worked for a few days, but one night she was having issues and that same nurse was in her room. My mom would push the call button and wait for a long time before anyone would come. She waited on the toiltet one time before someone came to help her back to bed. Her pain meds were often given to her an hour later than expected, which would then be hard to get her pain managed. Her room was dirty and i never saw anyone clean it. There were a few caring people. Amanda as a great nurse. Matt was so kind when giving my mom meds. Be aware of Susan, a nurse there. Not only was she horrible to my mom, but I witnessed her being awful to another patient. That was when I knew my mom's horrible experience wasn't the only one. Even when they said she was a valuable nurse.
