    Appa and Lorenzo the llama.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: If you are currently looking for a dog training program and are apprehensive about finding the right trainer, pricing, success rate, etc. just know that I was in the same place before enrolling in this program. With so many different trainers, programs, and methods it was overwhelming trying to choose. But i definitely chose right by enrolling in Good Shepherds Academy. The amazing trainers listen, understand, and tackle all of your fears and problems. But most importantly, you learn the importance of strengthening your human-dog relationship with trust, energy, and discipline. As the owner, you are also put through training and that is what has created such a positive outcome for me and my pack. BEFORE TRAINING: We have a playful and energetic 2 year old Husky named Appa. We were in serious need of leash training. He would practically drag me during our entire walk, chew on his leash, and bark hysterically at other dogs we encountered. Needless to say, walking became a very frustrating activity for us. TRAINING: Our first session was in November 2022 with trainer, Calvin, for an assessment. The meeting was amazing. Calvin channeled a calm, peaceful energy to get my dog out of the car, and in less than ten minutes my dog was meeting Cesar's pack. Calvin brought up many key points that would create the foundation for our training moving forward. The assessment was followed by a pack walk with other trainees and their floofs. The trainers are with you EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, helping you and your dog gain the confidence needed to accomplish your desired goals. Our goal: to walk side-by-side without any pulling or reactivity to other dogs. And guess what? We did it. We attended pack walks once or twice every month, combined with practice at home, and it has completely transformed our walks. The pack walks have helped my dog's socialization with other dogs. We couldn't walk him near other dogs (not just for him, but we didn't trust ourselves), but at the pack walks we were walking next to dogs of all sizes and ranch animals. We even got to walk Appa and a llama together! We always assumed Appa was aggressive because of his reactivity to other dogs but the trainers explained that it was actually just high energy and playfulness that required lots of exercise and corrections from us. TRAINERS: Arianna and Calvin are great at teaching dog owners the correct way to approach our dog's behavior from an energy POV. I always tried to use treats when trying to correct my dog but the trainers taught us that it is best to communicate with an assertive, CALM, and respectful attitude for both the dog and the owner. The trainers addressed all of our concerns and gave solutions. They are professional, passionate, and kind, but assertive when training dogs. They are honestly overall great trainers and amazing humans. Their assistance in helping us to trust ourselves to give our dog the right energy has changed our dog-human relationship. Most importantly, they educated us in understanding his breed's needs. This has been an eye opener, and great help in training our dog. A SUCCESS STORY.

    Our three little ones

We can not say enough about the training team at Good Shephard Academy. We started out in a weekly training program and pack walks and just loved how patient and understanding Arianna was with our dogs. She is one of the most kindest and most helpful people I know. She, along with her team of Andre and Calvin, helped us learn about balance and control while interacting with our dogs. Since they are small toy breeds, we treat them like our little kids, and with three, we had a few fights here and there and some unwanted anxieties. The professional approach that this team uses is learning to control behavior by relaxing your mind and your dogs mind and teaching them how to show respect. Together, while showing them in a very kind manor who's in control and then loving them. We left all three in Arianna's care for two weeks. It was hard on us, but they were having a great time while learning. She sent us updates almost daily, and we could tell how happy they were. I highly recommend them whether you are looking for training, boarding or a day camp. They are compassionate to your needs and ready to help.

We take our rescue puppy, Zero, to the puppy socialization classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. He started out hiding under our chairs and after 3 weeks is starting to play with the other puppies! We're so happy with his socialization progress, especially because he has no other outlet yet while he's only partially vaccinated (puppies require 2 of 3 vaccine rounds). We're also so glad to have the trainers' help when assessing his play, Zero is our first puppy so we don't yet understand what his behavior means; Seth and Beth are incredibly helpful in interpreting what our pup is feeling! The trainers, led by Seth and Beth, give excellent lessons in obedience; they've really helped me see how "tricks" like sitting or touching are the foundation for good behavior later on like being home alone or recall. They also take time at the end of each class to make individualized recommendations, which has helped a ton with our puppy's biting. With lots of at-home practice, our puppy has learned a lot of really great behaviors; now that he's playing with other pups, he's starting to get distracted in class, but we're so thankful to have the trainers' help in redirecting him! The puppy classes are a mix of training and play with alternating 10-15 min sessions of each, which allows socialization and prevents the pups from getting bored of training. The trainers here really balance training and socialization well (which we never could have done on our own), they know just when to let our puppy play and when to give him boundaries. If you're thinking of taking your puppy here, all I can say is "DO IT!"

When you have your first meet and greet, you have the privilege of meeting the owner and the petsitter at your residence. Your home and pets are taken care of while you are gone, now that's great service! I met the sitters that come to our home. They are kind, responsible and they enjoy our pets. You can book service for your pets through an app, or online. If you have any questions about it, Suzie is always happy to accommodate and help you with that too. The Pet Care Club of Santa Clarita has great rates! At the end of the trip, I like to give the sitters a tip for their time and gas. It's just a suggestion, not a requirement. I highly recommend this company! Suzie is warm, and her team is fantastic! Thumbs way up! Great job, PCCOSC!!!

She went above and beyond with updates, photos, and messages that gave me so much peace of mind while I was out of the country for almost two weeks. Vanessa came to my house to check in on my extremely shy and very skittish cat, who refuses to leave the house under any circumstances. Anyone who has met my cat knows she does not trust easily, but Vanessa was patient, calm, and respectful of her space. She still managed to connect enough to make sure she was fed, cared for, and feeling secure. The regular updates were beyond appreciated, I loved knowing she was in such thoughtful hands. Both of them consistently sent me updates, which I truly valued, especially being out of the country for nearly two weeks. Traveling is stressful enough, and having sitters I completely trusted made all the difference. If you need boarding or in-home sitting for pets with big personalities, or tiny terrified ones, you're in the best hands with Suzie and Vanessa. Thank you both for the love, attention, and reassurance. I will absolutely be booking again!

Our two dogs, Riley and Lucy, were very anxious and very yappy corgis, so we knew we needed help. They went through their extensive training program while we were away on vacation and when we came back, they were almost unrecognizable. They learned so much and we learned even more in terms of how to better care for them, how to effectively walk them and also how to utilize the e-collars. Needless to say, they are now the best walkers and they never bark when we play fetch. Since then, we have relied on Bethany and Chris to watch our doggies occasionally and we always feel confident that they are being cared for in such a loving but controlled environment. We could not recommend Bethany and Chris enough. In fact, our dogs are doing another board and train later this summer just for some obedience maintenance and I know they can't wait to be with them again! In March, Lola boarded at RBR while I was away for a weekend trip. Bethany worked with me on pick-up and drop-off as I live far away and have a crazy work/school schedule. Lola's e-collar and remote stopped working (at separate times) and Bethany was able to help me get them replaced. Much appreciated! Bethany and her team have been so so so amazing. I am forever grateful for their wisdom and advice. Bethany has been flexible and helpful with me through the many environmental changes I've had to go through in the past couple of years (which subsequently affected Lola). She has also been available to answer questions and concerns I have had after training. RBR's online videos are super helpful when I need reminders and extra training tips. I'm so glad my coworker told me about RBR.
