Almost every aspect of our visit was surprisingly exceptional! ENVIRONMENT: The ambience was nostalgic, electric. This brewery gives "hometown hero, small town hub" and the crazy part is that it has only been open for a few months, yet it gives off the impression that this has been many people's "regular spot" for years. The indoor space is casual with connect four games at the bar. Outdoor space is modern with a turf lawn, giant jenga, connect four, cornhole, gas fireplace, and umbrella tables. FOOD: Next, the food‍ The food from appetizers all the way to dessert was stupendous. We started with the bbq wings and, Lawd, them wings were seasoned really well under the sauce. Plus they were woodfire roasted, and I didn't even miss them not being fried. The pizza I got was really tasty, the crust was chewy yet had crispy crust from the wood fired oven. My pizza with the piggy in a pickled paradise. The rich fattiness of the pulled pork and creamy white sauce were harmonized with the crisp dill pickles and subtle sweetness of the pickled onions. I would definitely order again. My wife got the High Seas Heat burger which made me think of a jalapeño popper and a burger made a baby. Fries were outstanding. For me I grade restaurants based on the quality of their ranch. And this place makes A+ ranch. Lastly, we went all out and got their chocolate cake on a whim. We were not disappointed. The texture, balance of sweet to the bitterness of the chocolate was dialed in perfectly. This cake is super creamy as it has a nice layer of chocolate mousse I believe it's called. CRITIQUE: Down side (barely) was that our server wasn't super endearing and was preoccupied with other guests, however, it was understandable with this spot only being open a few months and the place was packed. ENTERTAINMENT: The guy that was playing live music the night we came was awesome. The stage is beautiful and the sound was not too loud , but not too quiet, a perfect level to lean in and listen, but also if you're having a conversation you aren't having to yell over the music CONCLUSION: All in all we will be coming back ALOT I hope they place NFL games on their tv's in the fall. Drinks were absolutely phenomenal BUT also served beautifully! We had the wings tossed in Buffalo and the Controversy Pizza. Both were delicious. The Buffalo sauce was a nice surprise being a little on the sweeter side. The pizza was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. They have a kids menu so our son got a mini cheese pizza and fries- those fries were super yummy and the kids pizza was just as good as the specialty ones. Their sauce is one of a kind and really makes the flavor top tier. Atmosphere was great. Indoors can get a little loud but it's part of the vibe. Our son played outside with all the kids here and had a blast- the fire pits were lit and it was such a nice evening. We played Cornhole and Jenga, also. Our servers were attentive and all the staff pitches in and help one another. Can't wait to come back and try out the pretzel and burgers! I think this is my new favorite spot! read more

Coming to celebrate a retirement and decided on someplace new. We were seated quickly as we waited for the rest of our large group. Be advised, you will be asked to open a tab for your visit. I'm not experienced in coming to a brewery because I do not drink anymore (even when I did I did not experience what I experienced here). I was there to celebrate a retirement. Upon sitting with some of my party and greeted by the server, I was immediately told that I had to place a card on file for a tab. I politely informed her that I was not going to drink anything. She proceeded to tell me that because of the size of the party I was with and because of the number of checks involved and to prevent anyone from skipping out on the bill I was required to put a card on a tab. In the spirit of why I was there I gave my card and as soon as she walks away was I charged $5 for 2 sodas. That was told to me prior to her leaving. That just ruined the atmosphere for me trying something new. I ordered the wings and honestly because the vibe was damaged the food was not good. If this is regular practice for breweries my apologies for my ignorance. I strongly suggest the owner come up with a different method to mitigating food/alcohol loss within their store. For the drinking older crowd, it was nice. The server did check in on the table periodically which was a plus for her. read more

Hopewell has finally landed its first brewery, and Good Ship Brewery & Eatery has set the bar high. Often, establishments that try to be both a brewery & a full-service restaurant struggle to balance the two--usually, one side suffers. That's not the case here; Good Ship seems to have mastered both early on. The Vibe: The experience starts before you even walk in. Outdoor space is incredibly inviting & sorta sets the mood for the interior, which features what I'd call a warm industrial aesthetic. It's rustic & cozy yet sleek--a perfect spot for a Friday night out. The Service: We arrived on an extremely busy Friday night. Despite the crowd, the staff was exceptionally friendly & welcoming. We opted for seats at the bar, and although it took a moment to get our first round due to how busy they were, our bartender stayed engaged & attentive. We never felt neglected; in fact, the service was so good we decided to cancel our table reservation & just eat at the bar. The Food: While the tuna bites came highly recommended, we were craving the classics: pizza and wings. Don't let the "standard" menu items fool you--these were executed to perfection. The wings were meaty, piping hot, and tossed in just the right amount of sauce. The pizza crust was perfection. Watching the other dishes come out of the kitchen, it was clear that there isn't a bad choice on the menu. The Drinks: To top off the night before heading to a concert at the Beacon Theatre, we ordered a round of cocktails. They were crafted by skilled hands and served as the perfect finish to a great meal. Overall: Good Ship is a fantastic addition to Hopewell. Whether you're local or just in town for a show at the Beacon, I'd say this is a must-visit. We will definitely be back! read more

Went today for lunch. We got two pizzas. I got a flight of beers and my son got one of the beers. I enjoyed all the beers and my son like his. Both pizzas were very good. I recommend and I will be going back. The weight staff was very polite and attentive. The place has kind of industrial look to it your typical brewery look. They have a small stage for live music and a nice outside spot. read more

Great location across from the beacon where we were attending a concert. The menu is limited but we played it safe and ordered a burger. Burger was tasty and cooked but the bun should have been grilled or heated. It ruined the burger. Fries were good. Service was ok but not very attentive. I would eat here again if going to the beacon but would not go out of my way to eat here. The ambiance was great with lots of outdoor activations so if I lived close by it would be a great place to hang out with a few beers for a fun afternoon or evening. Seems like a nice addition to downtown Hopewell with live music. read more

This is our 2nd time here. Chris took care of us this time and she was a very good server. I had a burger with Gouda , pineapple, teriyaki on a fresh bun. It was very good, served with enough fries to take home some. I also had a Mexican beer recommended by the house that was good too. My wife also had a burger with a side salad with blue cheese. We dined here before a concert at The Beacon Theater. Ordered what turned out to be one of the best Swiss mushroom burgers I have ever eaten, and the fries were delicious!! The light lager was very good. Very impressed! The wait staff were attentive and very accommodating. We will definitely go back! Also has outdoor seating with fire pits, and live entertainment. We called ahead to arrange for a party of 30. Our request was for outdoors, knowing we'd be loud with so many people. Although that request was t honored they placed us in a section of the restaurant near the stage-it worked perfectly. Drink service and attentiveness was excellent. Food was great!! Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Beers were excellent- we had a Pilsner and an IPA and they clearly know how to make some good beer here. Tried their potsticker app and it was delicious as well. Nice space- huge bar and dining area, big outdoor deck and space for corn hole, kids and dogs. My husband and I stopped into the Good Ship for a late lunch and to try their beer. The beer was very good (I tried the Hazy IPA and the Brown Ale) the staff was friendly and the pizza was on point. The atmosphere of the place is great, and I look forward to coming back in the Spring and enjoying their amazing outdoor area. This is a welcome addition to the Hopewell area. read more

Had a great experience at Good Ship! It was a balmy 22 degrees outside with ice still everywhere and yet the place was packed. We waited about 25 minutes for a table which was not bad and there was live music to keep us entertained. The inside has great ambiance and the outside looks like it will be nice as well during warmer weather. There is a timer on the wall counting time down to the showtime at The Beacon Theater which is a nice touch. The pizza was delicious! We ordered the Tradish. The crust was soft and chewy with crispy pepperoni. I had the Shipwreck Smash cocktail which was very good. I'm not much of a beer drinker but my husband had the Weston's Wheat that he really enjoyed. Would love to see some other snack type options added to the menu like a soft pretzel or some truffle fries. Overall I'm very excited to have such an awesome establishment in the local community.
