Stopped here for a lovely pint (and tasty Pinoy food truck din din) on a long drive from Richmond to Virginia Beach! It was a hot a** day and I was craving a cold beer. Their Vienna lager did not disappoint. It was light, crisp, refreshing, and just malty enough to wash down the tasty noodles I enjoyed alongside. This amazing establishment has managed to infiltrate all of the minor league sports venues and theme parks with their delicious craft beers and it's my go-to every time. Cold drinking beer! We each tried a beer flight, aided by a super friendly and helpful staff. As it was a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside. We each got a different selection of beer and enjoyed our selections. Stopped in today for a couple beers and live music. I had the Unconventional Wisdom IPA. It was good with a nice nose and citrus finish. The service was good, but there is no structure to ordering at the bar. You stand waiting for a bartender to look at you. It would be better with some sort of rope and stanchion system to force people to stand in a line. The parking lot is small and today was full. Had to wait for someone to leave before I could park. All of that said, the most aggravating thing about this place is the large number of young children and dogs with it being very crowded. While I can understand the allure of bringing your pets, they get under foot if not controlled well. As far as children, I saw several that were allowed to run free. Again, I realize this is unpopular, but the last thing I want to worry about when I go get a beer is pets and children. read more

THE BIG: A nice small local brewery in Williamsburg. Parking is onsite and there's even a boutique hot dog stand outside. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The second stop of the beer tour around Williamsburg. It was surprisingly packed when we came and I was also confounded that there were a bunch of little kids celebrating a birthday here. I guess the parents had to make sure they're having fun too. The most memorable beer here was the kolsch. Nice and crisp. I was also curious about their Imperial smoothie sour. It wasn't on tap but you can individually buy a can and as long as you drink it on premises, you're golden. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a flight of four beers was ~$11 and a can of the No Ragrets imperial smoothie sour was ~$8. Very delicious brews here. read more

Fun brew pub with some fantastic beers. Tried the Free Verse and Gorgeous IPA's, the Double IPA (Stingin' Ink) and the Oatmeal Stout. All were good. They had a really fun band. There's a lot of seating. Outdoors as well. You can bring in your own snacks or order from the food truck parked outside. Beers for sale in their cooler. Conveniently located right off the interstate. It was easy to find being an out-of-towner. Loud with the band but once they opened the garage door to the outside it was tolerable. Indoor seating can get a little tight on busy days Dogs are allowed indoors and outdoors! They offer a wide variety of beers and all of the bartenders are super nice! Sitting outside in decent weather, soaking it all in with one of my brothers and my two nieces - one of which I have never shared a drink with until now! I'd give the ambience 8 out of 10. I had a coupe of flights, selecting 8 different beer samples. The beers were cold and the flavors distinctive. Overall, I'd give the 8 brews between 6-8 out of 10. Solid brewery with a beautiful indoor/outdoor space! I can't attest too much to the brews as I am a non beer-drinker but my husband thoroughly enjoyed his flight and then had about three more of his favorite from the flight! Large craft beer selection. The root beer was good and they have a few other craft sodas for the non-drinkers. Came on a nice Thursday evening in February and they had the doors open to easily go from the inside to the outside which was nice. Thursday nights they also have trivia and it's 20% off for William & Mary students and faculty! Lots of seating outside with fire pits on a nice large patio and lots of seating inside as well. It seems that most nights they are open they have a food truck and we were lucky to be there the the night that Nosh food truck was there. I love VBC! their vibes are great and I am here every two weeks with my friends enjoying a beer and playing some trivia. Everyone is truly kind, especially the patrons. I have never been here when it is not packed, but everyone seems to be very mindful of that and everyone truly does their best to make sure that if you need a place to sit you have one. I am not a big beer person but I do like a lot of their tap beers. They are really great about allowing outside food and often Bald Guys Pizza food truck is parked outside. The day I visited there was a painting performance ongoing at the same time as the musical performance which was great (people could purchase raffle tickets to win the painting). In town for the weekend and Va Beer Company was on our list to hit. After doing some research we found out it was half price growler fill on Sunday. Being a Sunday in the fall, it was all-day football. We stopped in and the staff let me try a few things since we hadn't been in previously. We settled for Elbow Patches which is their great Oatmeal Stout. It was perfect for the cool fall day. Before we left we found out it was Friends of Dorothy release day. FoD is their PRIDE IPA. It is a very limited release that flies off the shelf. It is a slightly hazy IPA with tropical and citrus notes. It wasn't available for the growler special, but I was able to pick up a 4 pack. I can't wait to get it home! They have off street street parking with music and food trucks very frequently. There is a huge beer garden out front with plenty of seating and firepits. We are locals, and have been TRYING to be loyal to our local Beer Company, VBC. However, this has happened to us 3 times now, and we (my Wife and I) are very frustrated. On 3 seperate occasions, (once from beer brought directly from your brewery, once from Food Lion, and once from the BP on Penneman Rd), we have wound up buying Free Verse that had COPIOUS AMOUNTS of Sediment, like it was not properly filtered. Once, I didn't notice until after it was too late and it made my Wife and Myself sick! Needless to say, Virginia Beer Company has really let us down, and has now had three strikes. I guess we'll shift our loyalty to one of the several other breweries in town. Too bad. Update: I DID send a message through the contact form on your website BEFORE choosing to leave reviews because I felt that VBC was not truly interested in satisfying our disappointment, and on the previous 2 occasions we actually went into your tasting room to bring it to your staff's attention. Both times we got the same story, that this just doesn't happen and doesn't make it past your safety standards, etc. Well... I found this place using Yelp! We stopped in for a beer and a small lunch. This location has a private parking lot which was very nice and plenty of room There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating available. It is also very dog friendly as several were around. Most of the outdoor tables had umbrellas if you wanted to use them. They do not serve food but they had a food truck there that day. It was Frank's Monster Munchies. I can't give them a very good rating. I got 3 street tacos which were small, bland and expensive. I recommend bringing something in if you want to eat. The staff at the bar were very nice and helpful. I tried the Helles Lager(terminally pretty is the name) and Beliisimo which is an Italian Pilsner. They were both really good! This place played some very relaxing back ground music and had a very relaxing environment. It would be easy to spend a few hours there talking with friends and having a few beers. This wasn't my first time visiting-this is a regular stop whenever we are on the peninsula. It's one of our favorite breweries in Hampton Roads with a great variety of brews for all palates. My fiancé ordered the regular IPA of the limited variety (whatever new iteration they come up with) and I actually tried one of the new Boylan Raspberry Seltzer (non-alcoholic). They have great outdoor and indoor seating and the ambience is always fantastic. There was a food truck on call and in general it is always populated. Awesome Virginia craft brewery with indoor and outdoor seating! There are board games available to play with friends over a pint. You can also go on a brewery tour! The brewery didn't have food for sale, except for single serving sized bags of chips. However, they did have a food truck (at the time of my visit it was a BBQ truck!) parked on the property that you can buy from, or you can bring your own snacks in! I love that flexibility. To try their beers, you can buy a glass of it in many different sizes (ounces). This way, if you wanted to you can get as little as a taste of certain beers instead of committing to a full flight option or a full pint. There is an option for ordering beer flights - either 4 or 8 tastes. I chose the flight of 4 to try their "Year Arounds". A flight of 8 would get you all the Year Arounds, plus their 4 "Workshop Series" brews. Here's my attempted breakdown of the beers I tasted (I'm an expert by no means!): Saving Daylight - nice, light, and citrusy. A citrus wheat beer that doesn't have that typical wheat-y taste (which I usually hate). Free Verse - citrusy and lightly hoppy IPA with tons of flavor. Unlike the typical IPA, you can drink this easily on a hot day. Elbow Patches - oatmeal stout. Only order if you're into coffee! Lots of coffee notes. Tastes like you're biting on a coffee bean. Wrenish Rye - dry hopped amber ale. Very very slight hint of sweet. This one was my least favorite. Great spot to chill and have a good time with family and friends. Although this is a brewery, believe it or not there are children here enjoying themselves. Now I would not bring my children here but to each his own. We tried their different types of draft samples, brewed right here and found several to be pleasant to the palate. The Virginia Beer Company has been my go-to brewery and all-around fave hangout since they opened a handful of years ago. The two owners, Robbie and Chris, are such a gift to the community. Though they hail from elsewhere, their ties to William & Mary brought them back to the Burg. The business sector of their area of 143/Second Street is revitalized, due in large part to the success of VBC. First things first - the beer is delicious. There's always something new to try with a clever name and an attractive container (for To Gos). Additionally, local food trucks are ever-present which helps those owners and gives the community a chance to try new things. And very importantly - the staff is friendly and awesome, it's clean and the vibes are positive. Before COVID, live music was constant and I hope it will be again soon. In the meantime, by having a nice large outdoor area with fire pits and plenty of tables, it is a nice respite in a time when indoor options are limited and a fave place ALL the time. read more
