I just wanna say, this place is amazing. Working in the industry I know it can be hard on a Friday night with short staff. But let me tell you the staff and service here was still 100% on top of it. We have been driving from Boswell to eat their cod advertised as all you can eat. Tonight was the worst meal ever! We normally receive 4 large pieces of fish which was all we ever asked for. Tonight 3 extremely tiny pieces of fish came to us. The baked potatoe tasted old and hard. We asked for one more piece of fish since it was a total rip off for the price and was told no. We visited Good Table for the first time this weekend. Driving from Northern Indiana to Southern Indiana and did not feel like having fast food, so this was our option for breakfast. The restaurant was busy late Sunday morning but we were seated right away. Our waitress was definitely a pro, she was fast with our coffee and taking our order. I ordered eggs, bacon crisp, hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the bacon was limp, not crisp as I had ordered it. It tasted fine, but I prefer crisp bacon. I didn't bother sending it back, the restaurant was busy and we were traveling and wanted to get back on the road. The hash browns were very dry, almost like they were made with mashed potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were okay, but very bland. It looked like there was sausage in the gravy but it did not taste like it. In fact, the entire plate of food needed more salt and pepper. Breakfast came with toast. There were butter packets on the table, but the toast arrived with some kind of orange colored spread on it that did not seem to melt. Oleo? Not sure. The coffee was pretty typical diner coffee, it was hot and there was plenty of it. Three stars = a-okay. The service was very good, the food as just okay. It is a good option if you are looking for a big plate of breakfast and don't want fast food. Just keep your expectations realistic. read more

We stopped here while crossing Indiana on Hwy 24. This was a nice find - great service, good food, clean restrooms, friendly locals. Super generous portions and so reasonably priced. I ordered a stir fry and my husband ordered a skillet breakfast. Some other people were ordering huge marinated pork chops that looked delicious. The server said people come for miles to order the pork chops - maybe next trip. They serve breakfast all day (there are a few breakfast items that are only served until 11:00 but you'll have plenty to pick from if you want breakfast). Went here for breakfast on our way to Chicago. I got the corned beef hash eggs toast and taters. Excellent! Husband got western omelette with a side of gravy. He said his was very good. Daughter got silver dollar pancakes and bacon. Woah! When her plate came out full of pancakes. Very good and her bacon was cooked just right. Her friend got the bird. Everything was cooked just to order. Bacon was nice and thick and smoky. This restaurant is somewhat dated but appeared clean. Restrooms are old but they make sure with what they got. They were clean as they could get. Our waitress was sweet and looks like they have a pretty good group of regulars. If your passing through, stop! read more

Stopped here on the way home with the kids and was pretty surprised. Place was pretty busy for it bein 2 in the afternoon. Was filled with a lot of local old timers it seemed. Which is always a good sign. We got seat fast and drinks came fast. Order was taken quick. Food came out hot and fresh. I had a double cheeseburger that was very good and well worth the money. Burger was very tasty and a nice portion. Loved the big fries that came with it too. The slaw was nothin special at all though. Service after our food came was ok. Our server seemed very busy but she came back with a full drink for me and asked how everything was. I'll go back and try something else next time around. Couldn't remember who got what, acted like it was a bother when we asked for butter for our rolls "there's some in each basket" (there were 4 buns per basket with 2 butters in each basket)- and we had to ask for refills. The restaurant wasn't busy- there were 4 other tables besides ours, and 4 waitresses! The food wasn't anything special, but it was ok. A piece of Boston Cream cake came with the special, and the ganache was rock hard! Seriously couldn't cut it with my fork! I told the hostess they "may want to check their ganache" to which she told me "oh, we have a girl that makes our desserts homemade and when she went to freeze it, the ganache didn't freeze well"- - - and yet they are serving it to customers! As a cook/bartender/server, I always try to give small hometown places a chance......will NOT eat here again! read more

My husband and I have been traveling this past week and both wanted a good steak. We were driving through Kentland IN and came across this family restaurant. At this point we were just hungry so we stopped. To our surprise it had ribeye on the menu and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. I got homemade chicken and dumpling soup and it was yummy. Yuk. What a disappointment! The mashed potatoes were not tasty at all. They were not fresh; but were likely instant potatoes. She should have told me that. The tiny corn on the cob was not very good. Have eaten here for years. Today, while eating my hash browns I found metal shaving in them. When confronted with the issue, they offered no compensation. No money back, ect. They just said it wasn't on purpose. I'm sure it wasn't, but that does not make acceptable for myself or my child to swallow. The lack of concern they gave to the problem was troubling.
