Terrible experience here. My husband just wanted to look at plants, I chased our 6 and 3 year old around the store and stopped them from touching things and giggling and running and was doing my best to get them to behave, but was getting constant dirty looks from one of the cashiers, a grey haired elderly woman who was sweeping up. As we were leaving I said "we didn't really appreciate all the dirty looks we were getting, bye." And this cashier followed us out to berate us and tell us "if you had better control over your children[she wouldn't be giving us dirty looks]" I said " ma'am both my kids have ADHD I was trying my best what do you want me to do? Never take them in public?" And she continued to berate us as we were walking to the parking lot, she literally didn't need to do any of that, she could have just taken the feedback and not said anything as we were already out the door as I was saying it, but no, she felt the need to give her judgment at what terrible parents we apparently are. If she has adult children I'd definitely understand why they no longer speak to her, but I'm sure it's more likely with how bitter and unhappy she is that she doesn't have a family at all. DO NOT COME HERE WITH KIDS! These people clearly only want adult customers as all kids can't be perfectly behaved all the time and that's what the staff members who work here expect. I'd give zero stars if I could and return what we did purchase from them because clearly the owners have no problem employing bitter and rude employees who are fine at looking at their customers like they're worse than the dirt stuck to the bottom of their shoes. Please don't give them your business, especially if you have kids. read more

I'm here from out of town and found this little gem!!! They are all ready for Christmas with beautiful poinsettias everywhere! I loved the hanging ones the best! (Unfortunately they were too big to fit in my car for the long ride home!) The manager was very helpful letting me keep my lavender plants there for a day because my roommate couldn't handle the smell in our small hotel! A must stop for any plant lover!! read more

I never leave reviews... I asked a staff member where I could find a specific house plant I was looking for and she was very cold and looked at me like I was dumb for asking her WHERE TO FIND A PLANT..?? I don't know anything about house plants. It's like they don't want new customers. I was so excited to visit, but I for sure won't be spending money there again. Probably hands down my favorite greenhouse in the Des Moines area . I am a greenhouse flower garden heirloom plant searching Maven. If you haven't been here you need to get it on your list and just come . They have a wonderful group of staff that are very helpful and willing to discuss almost any kind of plant flower vegetable with you. I make my own flower baskets and pots and always find some new great unusual flowers here for the pots they have a wonderful selection of Iowa native perennials and regular perennials that pollinators enjoy, in smaller sizes and larger sizes. These people are the plant experts! Not only are they way more reasonably priced than other local nurseries (cough cough canoyer) the plant quality is superb, easily the best around. Do yourself a favor and stop buying cheap plants from Walmart or other chains and get a plant that will last a very long time from Goode. I had some issues (not really issues just questions) about some plants I bought here, called them up and got answers! So you can know your plants from here come with extended care! LOL! It does get crazy busy here during the early spring so be aware of that. Its all around a great greenhouse with great people who really know plants. This greenhouse uses extremely harsh chemicals. They deny access to pets as well as service animals because of said toxic chemicals. If they are strong enough to harm pets walking past, they are hazardous to the health of small children as well! Shame on them for creating a health risk as well as an environmental one. I hope I am able to raise this to a five star rating next spring, but during my fall visit in early October, I was disappointed to see such a lack of selection. About the only plants available were fall mums and it looked like the greenhouses were full of poinsettias for the upcoming holidays. I was in hopes of finding some herbs to plant in my sunroom for the winter, along with some nice succulents and other house plants. I will revisit in the Spring and hope I have better luck. read more

I just stopped in Goode's. Their flowers are beautiful! I was interested in some flowers and asked one of the employees a few questions. She was very curt and short with me. Acted like I was really bothering her. I wanted information about wave petunias. It was like pulling teeth to only get the most unhelpful answers. I might be a tad more understanding if they were busy, but they didn't seem like it. As evidenced by the way she and another employee talked together when I came to them with my questions. Needless to say, I left. I had expected much better service and had many items I wanted to buy. Not here:( read more

Huge variety! Great prices and lots of sales! The plants are all very healthy and they have several sizes of each.

If you have a green thumb you need to go here. They have lots of beautiful plants flowers hanging baskets and all your needs for all your gardening. And they even help you out if there's anything wrong with where you're trying to grow things. Sort of like having your own plant doctors. I love the clothes personalization they give you and the prices are really fair also. A good place to go and smell the flowers and buy them also. read more
