I had never needed to hire a lawyer prior to contacting Good Hemme, but we had an incredibly difficult situation arise with an unruly and unstable neighbor whose sewer mainline runs underneath our back and front yard. It had been leaking and she was unwilling to fix it, and the county was doing nothing to help push her into doing the correct and neighborly thing. Enter Kevin Bond, the lawyer we were assigned after discussing the situation briefly with a friendly and helpful secretary. Kevin took the information I gave him regarding the case and was able to pinpoint exactly what we needed to do to let her know we were ready to play hardball. While most of our exchanges with the ornery neighbor were made via email, he made each one hit hard. In no time the lady realized she couldn't manipulate us or the county any longer, and she forked out the cash to take care of the sewer break (as she should have when it was initially discovered 4 months prior). I found Attorney Thomas Goode to be not just incompetent but completely unethical and untruthful. After multiple false billings that he refused to correct he just kept billing me, the Client, for thousands of dollars for work that he never did. What he did do was to put me in a substantially worse position than had I never hired him causing me a loss in the value on my real estate in the millions of dollars. What was supposed to be an introduction and consult, turned into a drive by ambush of condescending machismo. What a strange way to introduce yourself to a new client. Not only could he not focus on my claims, but he was combative and adversarial out the gate. His opening line was "I cost $595 an hour", really. We are alumni of the same law school. It is a so disconcerting how unprofessional the "legal community" in San Diego is. Tiny self important "firms" of two or three associate attorneys that hail from Thomas Jefferson (barely accredited) CalWestern and USD Law schools trying to charge clients Harvard and Yale level rates. Bravado out the gate is obviously not a good sign. Maybe make an effort to humble yourself and pretend you are actually representing your clients and not your ego Mr. Hemme. read more

I retained Jerry Hemme and James Peterson in a million-dollar + probate matter...they assured me that they were knowledgeable in the field and that they would be aggressive...he told me that mr. Peterson would work late into the night on cases...what a joke that was... opposing counsel ran circles around them....they breached my trust on highly important matters..I am still seething about this everyday.Jerry Hemme as the manager of the firm, is arrogant, rude, and extremely cheap.not to mention, extremely greedy.....I think he has a short-man complex...I wouldn't hire these people for anything in the world...eventually they were sued for malpractice, and had to pay back almost $60,000 of the fee...even at that, they got off cheap...I would avoid this firm like the plague read more

WOW! Stay Away from this firm. So sketchy. We've been working with Michael Rogers (whom was pleasant to work with) for several years.. he has worked on at least 6 cases for us.. Once he joined this firm he got both Hemme and Goode involved in our cases . After years of working relationship they took a case from a party who filed a lawsuit against my family, which is clearly conflict of interest. Later, we find out they had shared all of our financials with the other party, including our bank statements, financial statements, etc. We pretty much lost our case because of that. Obviously, we stopped working with them immediately and ended our business relationship. You would think this would be the end of it.. Sadly, it was not. Two and a half years later we received a bill for $4,500 from their firm without any explanation or breakdown for the work they had done. A year later, I am still going back and forth to dispute that. They may appear they are experienced because they are old and suit up, but I can confidently tell you that they are all incompetent. We found out that Goode (who worked on one of our cases) didn't even review a P&S contract on a real estate transaction we retained him for, he sent it to a paralegal agency who has no experience whatsoever. We have a very large real estate company and have worked with many law firms.. these guys are the least experienced group of ambulance chasers you will ever meet. There are many other competent and ethical law firms in San Diego county who will actually fight for you for a fraction of what they charge. You've been warned. Nightmare of an experience. So bad on so many levels, it left me speechless. No reliability, follow-up, or customer service. On Dec 17, we contacted one of the attorneys at this office based on a referral. We needed a legal letter drafted and sent out. We spoke with John and he told us he will take care of it and told us the fee. Next day we paid the fee by credit card and emailed him the supporting documents. Following week we went on a long vacation and when we came back in January, I didn't see a copy of the letter that had gone out. Contacted the office to get a copy but found out, it still hadn't gone out !! Concerned, I contacted John. Got an email from him that he'd been in a trial and too busy to do it, but that the letter would go out the following Tuesday. Well it didn't. Contacted him again with voice mails and emails but got no response. In February, my husband contacted him a few times and finally after a call to the front office inquiring about our case, John called back and after making excuses again, promised that the letter would go out the following week. In March, still the letter hadn't been done after 3 months , we've had enough and called the office and asked for a refund of the fee. The office manager called us back and she said that we had two options. Either get the refund or that one of law firm's main partners himself, will personally take care of it. He was busy for another two weeks but was going to guarantee that it would go out after that. Told her that so far we've been getting promises and no delivery, but she assured me that the partner will get it done and we can count on him. Obviously, at this point, we were pretty upset, but as business owners ourselves, we knew that sometimes an employee didn't uphold the owners values and principles. We weren't too happy about lack of any checks&balances that would flag overdue cases like ours to upper management but was willing to give them another chance. Surely the partner's words meant something. Well WRONG. Two weeks, came by and gone, 3, 4, 5, and finally 6th week. No communications whatsoever. Disgusted with this firm, on May 19th (exactly five months after our payment), we called and asked for the refund. We were quickly turned over to the accounting department. The one star is for the accounting lady who apologized and quickly took care of the transaction. Complete joke of a firm. Don't rely on them and go some where else. read more
