The front desk staff clearly explained how their billing process worked prior to booking and they explain what to expect on the day of your appointment. My consultation and surgery was with Dr. Libunao. He was very professional and to the point. He clearly explained my treatment plan, potential risk/what to expect after surgery. Day of surgery seemed really quick, all I remember is the first 10 mins of the appointment. If I recall the overall process was an hour. That alone was a huge relief. Dr. Hur and his entire staff walked me through every step of the process. The actual work took less than 10 minutes per side making me question whether that was a deep cleaning, or whether I really needed one. Then they charged me $1418. Also , very difficult to communicate with. They don't return calls as promised. They put you on hold if you get through and after a time, your call is transferred to another message that says they can't talk to you now, but you can leave a message. But there is no way to leave a message.

Because of that positive experience, I brought my 9-year old son in today to have a tooth removed. My son has some special needs - he has severe ADHD, a learning disability and intense anxiety about pain. During our consultation with Dr. Scherer last month, I informed him of this and explained that my son has anxiety and fear (somewhat disproportionate to a normal level) when it comes to pain. I said, he will be VERY afraid and wI'll likely cry. I asked Dr. Scherer what he could do to help alleviate the fear. Answer: a child's dose of Valium the night before and morning of, and either laughing gas or IV sedation. I assumed those would be coupled with some understanding and a little empathy and maybe compassion for a terrified CHILD. OMG!!!! NOTHING could be farther from that. Dr. Scherer showed no empathy or compassion. Basically, he scared my son even more by saying "We can either do this now, here - or in the hospital." He demonstrated no care or understanding that my son was terrified. In fact, Dr. Scherer's demeanor was brusque, curt and slightly aggressive. He was unkind in that he used my son's fear against him instead of found or saying ANYTHING to try to allay his fear... even a little. My son was being brave and 'keeping it together' until we were told that I wasn't allowed to go into the room to hold his hand. Per Dr. Scherer, APPARENTLY, having a parent in the room makes the situation worse. Ok, maybe. I'll never know. But, I never expected the callous, brusque manner of Dr. Scherer today. I don't understand why this "hard-a$$" approach was necessary or appropriate for a scared, terrified kid with cognitive challenges. Shame on you, Dr. Scherer.

However, my experience with that surgeon was nothing short of terrible! At that time, the surgeon dubbed my 4th wisdom tooth "unremovable", and said it would need to be re-evaluated later to see if it could be removed. Of course, my experience with the other 3 removals was so terrible that I decided just to keep the 4th tooth, rather than go through such an awful thing again. Fast forward to a few months ago when ongoing infections make it obvious that that tooth has GOT to go. Of course, I was terrified because of what my previous oral surgeon told me. My dentist referred me to Dr. Dave, and when he told me that it would be no problem to remove that tooth, I was HIGHLY skeptical and a bit suspicious. He was totally right though! He was able to remove this "problem" wisdom tooth quickly and easily with no problems. I barely even had any pain afterward and the tooth healed quickly and without issue. What's more, Dr. Dave even called me the following day (a Saturday) just to make sure I was doing ok, something my previous surgeon never did. My only regret is that I did not go to Dr. Dave three years ago to have my initial wisdom tooth surgery. It would likely have saved me a lot of problems (and $). If you've been putting off oral surgery for any reason, don't hesitate to book it with Dr. Dave. He's great!
