Amazing staff and amazing service! When we walked in we were immediately greeted, the whole place is very clean very nice. Both my husband and my son got a haircut here and WOOOWWWW a month later and I'm still so happy about this experience. I'm a regular at Goodtimez and have been for quite awhile now. One day at random I walked in and got a cut by Juan and he has been my barber every since. He is always professional and goes above and beyond to make me look good. I no longer live in Upland but I still travel back to Goodtimez for my regular appointments with Juan and he accommodates my schedule when he can which I really appreciate. The guys always keep the place clean and the environment chill and entertaining. Many times while getting an excellent cut by Juan, I will just listen to the banter. Brought my 3 year old here for the first and it was overall a great experience. Jimmy was awesome, I can not say that enough. I know how frustrating it can be to do a toddlers hair especially when they can't sit still, but he was very very patient with my little guy and extremely friendly. I've been to a few barber shops and this is by far my favorite now. My younger brother wanted to tag along to try and get a hair cut but didn't make an appointment ahead of time. So he called on our way to the shop to see if they could possibly see him as a walk in and they did. These guys are super accommodating and very professional. DO NOT GET HAIRCUTS DONE BY JESSE!!! not one to hate on someone's craft but as someone who is a barber and mother i decided to try out a new barbershop for my 15 year old. I should have known better than to come here. They had a sign twirler on Foothill to net in unknowing new customers and now I know why, that was the first red flag. So I go here at 3pm to get my autistic son a haircut after school for his first date (he is very high functioning, quiet and follows instruction with minimal prompting ). The sign on the front says walk ins welcome. I walk in, I am assuming who is the owner says hi, nothing more nothing less, not hey someone will be with you shortly, hey you might be waiting a while, hey these guys sitting around are LAZY AF and don't want to work and you are better off going elsewhere, nothing. A little background. I am a self employed educated service professional with 20+ years experience who works on a work to eat basis and I also have 15 years of coaching and teaching experience, sometimes for free, sometimes for profit. I am assuming the barbers sitting around either didn't want to work or didn't want to cut a 14yr old's hair maybe because he was autistic, maybe not. I went here to support small local business in my city, especially because I train at the Jiu Jitsu Academy in the same strip mall and I work out at the 24 hour fitness next door every morning at 5 and live 5 min away. BIG MISTAKE. There were a total of 10 barbers. At one point only 4 were working, the others were sitting around, on there phones, BSing showing pictures to the other working barbers, One dude was literally brushing his hair in the mirror for 30 minutes, other guys were just sitting there. The final draw was when a working barber finished with a cut, the owner said hey, there is someone waiting, guy shines him on like he is a chump, not hey I have an appointment, hey I am taking a lunch, he might as well have told him to STFU. (yep, like that with zero respect or professional courtesy) Clearly the owner thinks since these guys pay chair fees and aren't employees they can just treat him like a doormat, shine him on and make his business look like a hood hang out spot or a county courtroom instead of a professional business. But the fact that he didn't even give me a synopsis of the service situation when I first arrived tells me they are just following his lead of weak unprofessional beta leadership which is the last place you would expect it to be in an old school feel type barbershop like this. I have felt more manly environments at woman's nail shops . Owner has ZERO control over his business. The image being presented is TRASH SERVICE with a bunch of do nothings, acting like they are gods gift to cutting hair. After 50 minutes of waiting and watching dudes sit on there hands we left and the other homie telling the owner he didn't feel like cutting anyone's hair after being prompted there were waiting paying customers. because I know these types of my own people, I drove around back when we left, sure enough the dude that told the owner to mind his business, was sitting there on his phone smoking something, don't know what it was but I can only guess from the smell. This place is roomy, comfortable, and climate controlled. I go to Victor who cuts adults and #kids. He does a really good job and takes his time with you. I recommend you make an appointment as this place can get busy. Everyone here is very nice. Today when I came in they offered me free donuts! They have a snack vending machine, ATM, and complimentary water at this location. This is a #cash only establishment, but they do have the convenience of an ATM machine. I have been coming to Goodtimez for about four years now. As long as I live in the city of Upland, I will not be going anywhere else. So if you're reading this review, take it from someone that has been coming here for a long time. I will walk you through it. Let me start by saying that a lot of these negative reviews are straight comedy. This place never smells like weed, the music is never too loud that you can't have a conversation with your barber, & yes they do take appointments. Like anywhere else, if you're a walk-in, you're going to wait just a little bit longer. You can't expect to walk in and not wait a little bit. That just tells me that you've never been to a good barber shop. And who still judges people on the way that they look?! It's 2019! I read a review that said these guys look like they just "got out of jail". Shame on you, lady! I'm almost positive that she voted for Donald Trump. When I first started coming here, I was getting my haircuts by a barber that no longer works here. After that, I tried a few different barber shops in the city of Upland that I will not name. Not here to bash. They just weren't for me. For the last 3 years Mikey has been cutting my hair. There has not been one single time that I was unhappy with a haircut. He has always provided top notch customer service, and always asked questions to make sure that he got my cut just right. Now I don't even have to say anything, he knows exactly what to do. The haircut is always so fresh that I always leave feeling like I can go model for GQ. The barber shop has done some upgrades in the last few years. There's tv's everywhere, stylish paintings, refreshments, it's just an overall cool place. Yes you're there to get a haircut, but a barbershop should also be a place that you enjoy visiting. This is one of those places. So my advice for you if you're thinking about coming here: make an appointment, and ask for Mikey. If he's not available, any one of these guys will not disappoint. Place is ok not great. Some of the guys are kind of rude, don't expect a warm greeting. Its appointment only, but remember who you made an appointment with if you're new. I remember I called to make one for 3pm with, whichever barber. Went to the guy to the front told him I made an appointment at 3pm. He ask who I made an appointment with. I didn't remember the guys name. So, he told me how is he suppose to know who I made an appointment with. He ask again and I told him again, I don't remember his name. So, he just yelled out who has a 3pm appointment. It took a second, but one of them finally answered an said my name. (he could of done that after I told him I didn't know his name the first time.) If anyone cares how they deal with Covid; They don't really push the mask here. First guy I saw didn't have a mask and nobody said anything. One barber didn't even have his on. Another one was wearing it on his chin. The three others had theirs on. Another guy also walked in without his mask and I guess the barber that didn't have his mask knew him. He greeted him with a hand slap and a hug. Barber that cut my hair had his on the whole time. As the person getting the haircut you are not required to leave mask on I also notice some of the barbers charge a different amount for the same haircut. Thomas seems to be the most fair and he's not bad at cutting hair. He also seems to be cool to talk too even if he doesn't know you. He charged me $25. Others there would charge you $30-$35. JUAN is super unprofessional. I had an appointment today at noon and he messages me on the theCut app 54 minutes prior to my appointment asking me if I can move my appointment to 1 pm. I would have not mind if he would have texted my cell number giving me a heads (which he claims he did), but I do not live in the area so I was already on my way and unfortunately saw the message when I arrived. I then call my girl and let her know that we can move up our lunch plans given what happened. I then get a call from a "Grand Prairie TX" number and assumed it is a spam call so I ignored the call and continue my conversation. Turns out it was JUAN who was calling and left a voicemail "that's right coward bitch, dnt pick up" Juan has no idea if I am a minor, a person using a wheelchair, a lady etc. This shows his character, maturity, and level of intellectual ability. Not Your Grandpa's Barbershop! Goodtimez with a Z is the furthest thing from a hair salon, or some upscale, city slicker attraction. It's a place where the main thing is the main thing. It's an experience but it's not the experience you expected. Your hair is the main thing. I'm not being asked 20 questions about my life or what I do, what I like or how I think. I come in, sit down, tell them what I want and they do it. The attention to detail is out of this world. It's a great cut, every time. Want a beer, cool they have it. Just ask. Get ready to jam out because they are playing what they want to play on the speakers and its loud. Its every genre, depending on the mood. This seems like a promising joint from the reviews. I was a walk in and there were 3 barbers. 2 out of the 3 had clients and there were 2 people in front of me. The other guy with no client kept conversing with the client that was in the chair. Again, there were two people waiting before me and the mother, that brought her child in, held my gaze, rolled her eyes, and had that expression "omg, stfu and service your clients". I visited Goodtimez Barbershop on Saturday morning 10-05-2013. I totally underestimated this shop by the number of people waiting for a haircut. I come from a smaller barbershop and when the seats are full, I would have to try again later. I have heard nothing but great things about this shop and was very excited to finally get in for a haircut. Gusto was my barber and did an excellent job on my cut. I asked him lots of questions and inquired about the fact Goodtimez is open till 10 P.M. during the week. Let me just tell it like it is.... I paid close attention to all the different barber chairs. These barbers are truly masters of their trade. Try to find another shop anywhere in the Inland Empire that is open for a haircut past 5PM during the week. I wish you the best of luck! If you show up past six o'clock the prices are five dollars more and I feel that's well deserved to all the employees. They are missing out on time with their families and loved ones to better serve you. I understand times are hard but come on people. The last time I looked, you have to pay more for a luxury service like that. So the next time you visit past 6:00 PM, show your Barber that respect and pay for the benefit you receiving. I will return to this shop again and again! I have a mad respect for all the barbers I saw.
