Made an appointment the day prior for an early morning head shave and was able to book right in with Mark. When I arrived, he let me in and got right down to business. Conversation was easy, & Mark moved seamlessly from clippers to hot towel to straight razor. I have sensitive skin on the top of my head so I did get a couple of nicks but nothing unexpected or worrisome. My son is seven, and we've tried a few babershop around the area. I saw this one walking by and decided to try it. It is by appointment only. This could be a good or bad thing but for us it is great. We use to wait up to 2 hours for a cut. And although I could set an appointment anywhere else, I must say this place is super clean. Prices are pretty much the same as any other place that u make an appointment ($25 shave $25).The barber has great customer service and did such a great job with my sons hair. I stumbled across this barber shop on 2nd street right smack in the center of Historic Upland. I was nearby at a coffee shop and took a double glance and captured this cozy storefront in my mind as I was leaving. Needless, I was back months later and found Corrine all by herself on a Saturday afternoon. Corrine asked how I wanted my trim and I told her that I prefer a low fade with a #4 on the side, shadow my beard with a 0.5 and leave my top with enough hair to style. She understood and acknowledged I have thin hair and would make a certain cut to create more volume. Great, let's do this because this is a lot less over Rogaine. That's my problem that I incur with new barbers, for the majority, they end up taking too much off and I'm ok with that because it's just hair and will eventually grow but why ask how you want your haircut if you already as a barber know you're going to chop away and turn you loose. On my third return, Corrine knows that she has earned a new customer and I'm very pleased with my results and I've been averaging like every 3 weeks and feel very confident. I have to admit on my visit today during Upland's Christmas parade, I witnessed the popularity the barbers have with it's customers. Due to the road closures, customers were coming in from the back entrance and briefly saying "we're in your parking space and we'll be just outside in front watching parade, sure no problem, take your time" There was another couple that started a conversation with Ben the senior barber about youth soccer 10 years ago with their kids. It's that transparency I like and hope I can build a good relationship with this location in the months and years to come. The inside is currently under construction and there is a lot of rearranging going on in the meantime but don't let the that fool you. New floor is in, a common masonry brick wall will remain exposed which helps remind you that you're in a very old building from the 1920's.
