I'm leaving this review on behalf of my husband because he is not a review guy lol. My husband and I lived in Upland for a couple years and this was the only barber shop he liked. He went to a couple different ones and would swear he should have waited to visit Upland Barber Shop. He would complain that other barber shops are very gimmicky and he felt like he didn't fit in, or often felt uncomfortable in the chair. I went with him yesterday for the first time and the shop was old school and had good vibes. Each barber had their own station in front and they were smiling and talking with each other. There was beautiful art on the walls, it was a really nice shop. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays, but not a big deal. Alex cut my husband's hair and he killed it. My husband looked handsome as ever. :) We live in the Riverside area now so we made a trip out yesterday before a family event this weekend. On the positives, the ambience is pleasant and everyone seems nice. However, I received the worst haircut I've had in years here. I just needed a basic trim, which I described the same way I do with every barber I go to, but it was fairly mangled here. Not only was it not cut evenly or blended the way I'd asked, but I wear my hair dry and combed right to left, and Alex cut and styled it with heavy product slicked back. I brought my 13 year old in and was greeted by the someone at the 1st station. My son was promptly accommodated by Johnny (last station). I've called 3 other places with one simple question. Are you practicing COVID-19 protocols (i.e. masking, sanitizing, etc). 3 out of 4 that I called around town was a huge disappointment EXCEPT for UBS! COVID-19 compliant: YES! They were all masked. Liz gets 5-Stars, but I've had cuts from the other fellas and they can't cut medium short asian mens hair. Also, the male barbers get really defensive if you criticize them if you tell them the haircut was too short or if you don't compliment their work when they ask "How does it look?"... I really like Liz but I fear coming here because a lot of Right-Wing Conservative dudes come here talking about anti-vax/anti-LGBTQ stuff. It's not a safespace for people like me. I came in and got a cut by Sergio, he got down and the best part is that he took his time and made sure that everything was lined up properly. He also made sure to ask me every step of the way what I wanted. I have a pet peeve when barbers ask you once and then just do what they want. I appreciate it. Also, Matt, the owner, is always doing a good job making sure the lines move fast and remembering who's going where. 'ok' let's get down to it. The UPLAND BARBER SHOP Rates a high Yelp review. So how was our first trip to The UPLAND BARBER SHOP? We took our 91 year old father for a hair cut at The UPLAND BARBER SHOP because of the Yelp Reviews being 5 Star. We entered the address into our car navigation system and arrived at the Barber shop with no problem. But once at the address, there was two barber shops almost next door to each other. We had to check the business name to make sure we entered the correct shop. Once inside the shop it was very clean with four barbers working and one barber at lunch. Dads hair was cut by Abe a wonderful barber that gave dad one of the best cuts in decades. The shop was active for a Wednesday afternoon with customers in and out of the chairs. The price of the cut was very reasonable for the quality of barber's professional work. Not only was dad impressed, so was I and I will be going to The UPLAND BARBER SHOP for my next cut. On the negative side the only issue is that the Yelp page states that the shop is open on Mondays. Since dad has been saying for weeks that there are no barber shops open on Monday's, my goal was to take him to The UPLAND BARBER SHOP for a cut there last Monday. Good thing we didn't go as in fact the shop is closed on Mondays. So, the over all Yelp rating has to be a 4 Star since the days of operation is not accurate. There is nothing worse than going to a new business and the hours or days of operation is not accurate. Once the Yelp page is updated to be accurate I will update this review and give a perfect 5 star..... A wonderful barber shop give them a try and you will be hooked..... The best barbershop in Upland! I moved to California from Ohio and stopped in the first week I arrived. The walk-in wait was short and the old school barber atmosphere made me feel right at home. You never need to make an appointment, because they have plenty of barbers available every day- which is an important detail to me, working as a grocery manager at differing hours every day. All the barbers are talented and professional. The pricing is reasonable and I've never left feeling short of completely happy with their services. Alex's attention to detail is amazing and until I moved from Upland, I went to him religiously every other week. I'm actually bummed at the distance and having to change barbers. As I mentioned, all the barbers are incredibly talented, so the handful of times I stopped in when Alex was off for the day- I never felt nervous about allowing another barber to cut my hair. Alex, Danny, Matt and the rest of the Upland Barbershop crew will never leave you unsatisfied. The shop is also family friendly, so if your kid needs a haircut too, I recommend bringing them by as well! I brought a friend's 10-year-old son with me to get his hair cut and Alex was so good with him. They even turned on the Avengers so he didn't get bored and he made him feel comfortable, talking to him about all of his interests. These barbers really care. I called in ahead of time to keep track of how busy they were, they answered the phone immediately and as soon as I walked in I was seated right away. My barber has worked for them for 4 years and I saw great reviews on yelp about the place and I agree with them. I recently moved here and was looking for a barber and with the shutdown it was impossible to. They just reopened and I am glad I found them. He did an amazing no. And was quick. Fade was on point l, well blended and top was great too. Minimal guidance to the guy and he knew exactly what to do. No complaints. Most hairstylists try to cut my hair and then blow dry it straight. I get home, and it looks nothing like it did after I was it. She is a master.
