Donation lines have been insanely slow for years now. It's terrible. As a car pulls into the garage they shut the door every time and it takes forever. They shut the door even on beautiful weather days so I don't know what they are hiding. Maybe the person working in the donation garage takes a break after each car for all we know. I don't know what is happening behind that closed door but there is no excuse for how long it takes. I see cars open their trunks or hatchbacks before the door closes and they may have one or 2 items, but the door then closes and there is a very very long wait before it opens for the next car. Years ago this was not an issue so it's fixable but they won't. I'm no longer going here and instead donating at Savers. Because they get bad reviews on the donation drop offs all the time and refuse to correct the issue, I may even Boycott the business and stop shopping here. Years ago the lines moved fast so it's fixable but they must not care to hire one more person per shift in the donation area. If my money spent there doesn't go to properly staff the place then why keep shopping here, sad. read more

I will never give donations to this store in Apple Valley again. There are NO signs posted anywhere in the store that they do not accept returns. Since they have removed fitting rooms, because of Covid, I could not try on a pair of jeans, when I got home they did not fit . I went back the next day with my receipt, looked to see if they had any others jeans I might want but did not find any. Went to the counter and they said "We only offer exchanges" I said since you have no fitting rooms I could not try them on?? They were rude and said "look at the bottom of your receipt" Well, I got the receipt AFTER I paid for the jeans. They continue to blame everything on COVID, really?? I had ourchased some clothing and since the fitting room wasn't open I had to return them and I had been to a goodwill farther than my local goodwill I was calling the store to ask a question. As to whether I could return my items to a closer location but, there was NO one to answer my question, Just a reording . I've donated to this store often for many years and have been willing to wait, but at 3 pm on a week day recently the line was so long and slow that I shut off and restarted my vehicle several times, wishing I had turned around and left when I was still able. Clean and well organized, but overpriced. Some of the items had the original store tags with lower prices than the Goodwill price. They also sold a number of brand new things: shampoo, hand broom & dustpan, headphones, etc. Those prices were not very competitive either. Very similar to the merchandise at the Dollar Tree, but more expensive. They also sell snack sized bags of chips for $1.50. Yeah, seriously. Definitely pass this place up, you'll only feel frustrated with the prices and leave irritated. read more

Every time I go the 25% off coupon for donating is on less and less items. The pricing is completely out of hand. Today I was planning on getting a candle holder and realized the price was $25! For (kind of ugly) USED merchandise-but that I thought would be great with a little TLC and the right price. But that is like new pricing. I won't shop or donate here any longer if this trend continues. Two years ago the coupon was for EVERYTHING and you felt like donating and then purchasing items went to a good cause and it was a win win.. Now I feel as tho we the consumer are getting screwed as we GIVE them the merch to make money on... AND they want to overcharge on the sale. Easy fix... no more donating to Goodwill and no more purchasing.. It will be harder to pad those "non profit CEO" wallets that way. read more

I shop Goodwill stores on a regular basis. All are basically the same. But today I went into this store (first time at this location) and had a difference experience. While looking at various things that interested me, I noticed that they seemed to be priced higher than I normally see at other stores. I asked a lady shopping in the same aisle whether she shopped at other Goodwills and how did she think the prices compared. She agreed they were higher at this store. I did find one item to buy and put it in my cart. I then spied something else and checked the price: $6.99. I buy the same item at other Goodwills for either 99 cents or $1.99. I thought perhaps someone attached the wrong sticker to this piece and so went to the checkouts to inquire. A tallish, dark-haired female manager came over and I asked if she thought it might have been mispriced. She immediately became defensive and said that the price would not be reduced. I reminded her that I had not asked that it be reduced, but simply if she thought it had been mispriced, which is a separate issue. She said the item was priced according to the list of price ranges for that item that are posted in the pricing area. I mentioned that I normally pay $1-$2 for the same item at other Goodwills and asked why this item was so much higher here if those lists are followed consistently. Her answer was revealing. She said that their store has a different price list and they price their items higher at this store because of "their clientele". Keep in mind that the items in this store are the same type and quality found at every other Goodwill - no better, no worse - and the folks shopping the aisles looked the same as what you would see at any of their other stores, so who exactly they think "their clientele" are that should be paying noticeably higher prices for standard thrift store merchandise is puzzling. So be aware that when you shop this particular location, you are paying higher prices because the management thinks you are part of some special class of "clientele" and should pay accordingly. I ended up putting everything back and leaving the store without making a purchase. Interestingly, I stopped at the Savers on Lake Street a bit later and found two more of the same item (different designs, but same item and manufacturer) and they were priced at $1.49 and $1.99, which is what I usually find them for. The attitude of the female Goodwill manager left a LOT to be desired and so this store gets a one-star rating. She was more interested in defending the high prices than she was in helping answer a customer's question. She desperately needs some customer service training. read more

This is the best thrift store I have ever gone to! There are a lot of thrift store that are just very overwhelming and they do not even make an effort to sort out their clothes. This goodwill had everything sorted by color, sleeve length, and sweaters. Pants: black dress pants, khakis, sweats etc. The only thing I wish they would focus a little more on is sizing. All the sizes are mixed together and it takes a lot of time to look at size tags. What I suggest is to have sizes 0-4 in one section 5-9 in another.... It does not have to be to specific but, I hate having to sort through sizes that are obviously too big and obviously too small. They also have tons of toys and kitchen ware and they do a very nice job of separating these things. Another thing they are wonderful at: Not selling JUNK! There are too many places that put a price tag on something that belongs in the garbage. Savers for example. It would also help if people would not donate things that are obviously terrible. When I donate things, if it has a hole or a stain that keeps me from wearing it, then most likely no one else wants to wear it either. read more

Walked up to the clothes bin to drop it in and an employee grabbed it out of the bin and threw it back at us and told us we would have to stand in the car line until it was our turn. Very pricey! Only reason I used to go there is because they used to return/exchange. They changed their policy without any notice even though I am subscribed to their email list. Now they only exchange or return for store credit that is supposedly valid only 7 days. Store cashiers themselves don't seem very clear on the policy. I accidentally picked up a pair of shoes that were different size for each foot. Went to exchange and they did not have the odd size. But they would not process a refund even though its their fault that no exchange could be made in this case. Just terrible. When my 5 year old son stepped on a piece of glass I went to the back of store (2 aisles away) to find employee to make them aware. An employee approached my 2 children asking where I was. Of course I heard her and immediately said, "Right here..." But before I could get any more out she started scolding me for leaving my children unattended. So I hand her the piece of glass to explain and she does not thank me, instead continues to berate me for leaving my children alone. It was 10 feet for about 30 seconds lady to let you know you have broken glass on the floor!!! Omg see the big picture and don't be rude to customers trying to HELP keep your store safe. I wasn't upset about the glass, my son didn't get hurt, just didn't want it to hurt another customer. I will never shop there again. I dropped off a couple of hundred new and very gently used items from 6 families at the Goodwill location in Apple Valley, MN. It took a fully loaded pickup and a fully loaded SUV to deliver it all. For all of the items we donated we received 1 receipt for the truck load and 1 for the SUV load - that leaves 4 families without record of a donation. I asked to speak with the manager, he said that has always been the policy. I have been donating several times a year for at least a decade. If that is truly the policy they will no longer be receiving our donations. Organizations are clamoring for donations everywhere you look, Salvation Army, Chaps Thrift, VA, ARC. I will have no trouble finding somewhere else to go. In reading the other reviews I see I'm in good company. With the policy of not acknowledging donors and price gouging shoppers - I wonder how much longer this location will be in business. read more

This Goodwill takes advantage of donations that are given to them. They priced things as if they were brand-new and even more than what they would cost brand-new. Take for example gift bags were priced at 2.99 where is the Door Tree next-door they were going for a $1.00 same bags . This is outrageous I am completely livid when I seen an old decrepit dresser drawer that looks as if it was falling apart priced at $150. I could go to Bucks furniture in Bloomington and pick up a dresser the same height same with brand-new for $100. Who is pricing these donated items as they are coming in.? How in the hell are they determining these out rages prices ? And how are the justifying these out rages prices? Well as a consumer and as a donator I will make sure that I never donate to the Goodwill and AppleValley ever again because this goodwill is not helping lower income families. They are just completely consumed in their own greed! I would really love to know who is running this store overseeing it because I personally would like to have words with them. This is so outrageous that I'm almost tempted to call up channel 5 and asked them to investigate this. Don't go and shop at the Applevalley Goodwill because it only encourages these price hikes shop at savers or go to Unique's in Burnsville where they're reasonable and they also benefit the vets. read more
