What an amazing place that I honestly didn't even know existed! The people working here are so knowledgeable and good to the cats. The girls had the best time playing with the cats as well! They have small rooms to go in where you can hangout with the cats in an enclosed, safe environment. I can definitely tell that the cats here are really loved and cared for! I ended up seeing the manager Daniel in the parking lot he was done for the day I told him about my issues and he took me back in the store after he was already clocked out to sort it out. You could spend a couple of hours perusing the aisles filled with items. Some things seem pricier, but dig deep, and you can find reasonably priced stuff! I was sad Big Lots closed, but Goodwill is an excellent choice for people like me looking for a bargain!

Wonderful community museum with amazing outdoor space and special events. We have enjoyed the…read morebirthday parties and pop-up events for years, so much that we were inspired to contribute. Now that phase 1 of the museum is complete and open we are amazed. A beautiful little outdoor theater, a play cafe and farmer's market, a real greenhouse and a Channel Islands themed playground are just a few highlights of the outdoor experience. The indoor has a nice little classroom and shop area and a really cool maker space including a cardboard "chomp saw" and lots of crafts! The staff are really kind, patient, polite, and helpful. They help transform this from a fun space into an inviting experience. You can tell how passionate they are about family learning. The museum is already amazing and a fitting successor to the library that used to be on the site. We can't wait for phase 2, when the rest of the indoor space is renovated and available!

I saw a lot of promo and marketing for Kidstream children's museum on IG and FB so I thought it…read morewould be a great idea to check it out with my husband and my 19-month-old daughter. It was easy to find in Camarillo and there's a lot of parking in a private lot. Entrance is a bit awkward because you go in hallway to check in at a circular booth to get your tickets scanned (pre-purchased online) and a wristband for the day. All the employees are very nice and helped answered any questions. We arrived on a Sunday at 12:30pm (opens at 12pm on Sundays) so it was surprisingly crowded and really hot. We started off in the outdoor area and I applied sunscreen on my toddler since there wasn't too much shade in the outdoor play area. It was mostly a lot of older children and kids compared to my little one. I appreciate the different play stations so it seemed like there's a variety of activities for everyone. Some of the older kids loved sliding down the hill with cardboard but that activity can be done at the SB Zoo too, which also has a hill. My daughter loved the fox puppet so it was adorable to see her play with the campfire station and other kids + parents joining in. We also checked out the indoor room but it was super crowded and I was bumping into parents and the small lego pieces were not age appropriate for her. The smaller outdoor room from that indoor room had huge building blocks that my daughter could play but with the sun shining strong that it was just too hot to play and there was minimal shade. I think there's a lot of potential here when my daughter is older for imaginative and social play but she's too little for the museum. The membership is $150 for 2 adults + 1 toddler for future reference and you can apply visit's admission to upgrade to a membership. I like how they have a tables/chair party set up for possibly a birthday party event so that's great they can host. Interested to see how this place does in the near future!

Food Share is such an important resource and lifeline to Ventura County! The staff at the…read moredistribution center truly care about their mission, and it definitely shows through their actions. At a former job of mine, Food Share allowed the educational non-profit organization I worked for to shop weekly for fresh produce to distribute directly to elementary school students and families served in need, many of whom struggled with food insecurity. This partnership was vital, and very much appreciated by all because it helped improve food access throughout our community at wellness fairs and nutrition classes. Thank you for your hard work! I will never forget about the huge difference Food Share continues to make in countless lives throughout Ventura County, and the value they place on equity.

The amount of volunteers that showed up today turned a 2 hour event into 30 mins and it was such a refreshing time - especially to do on a day of love . We found ourselves driving through Camarillo Old Town for the first time. I was immediately drawn to the small-town shops and restaurants. Then we saw the Farmer's Market -- we had to stop. The husband was hungry, so we started with lunch at Freda's Pizza -- so good! We walked to explore and shop -- bought a couple things and met some really nice people. Then ended with a nice break at Rori's ice cream -- super yummy! Sadly we missed the Farmer's Market since it ends at noon, but it gives us a reason to return! :) Free parking everywhere. The area is clean with lots of benches. There are more places to eat than shop, but the outlets are just a mile down the road.

With the Adolfo Camarillo House built in the 1890's, Camarillo can lay claim to those kinds of historical bonafides. "Old Town" Camarillo doesn't go back that far, but the origins date to the 1910's. Many of the buildings have historical character and flair, with newer builds reflecting that nostalgic sensibility. A revamping early in this millennium added large planter beds and free-standing oversized pots with trees, bushes, and flowers. Benches allow a place to linger with a soft serve cone, smoothie, or other sweet treats. Sculptures and a signature vintage-style clock at the head of Arneill bring more visual interest to the many blocks on Ventura Blvd. Restaurant options range from quick and casual to more upscale and adventurous. Dear Hubby and I have definitely enjoyed Mister Softee's ice cream options many times, followed by a walk down to Saint Mary Magdalen's Chapel to enjoy taking in that façade. We don't live in Camarillo, so don't make it over there in time for breakfast very often, but there are multiple diners that specialize in fueling guests for "the most important meal of the day". Dorothy's Chuck Wagon Café is a long-time favorite for many. We've enjoyed early dinner at Twisted Oak Tavern, delicious small plates at Twenty 88, stellar gnocchi at Ottavio's, comfort BBQ chow at Bandit's, Mongolian BBQ at Wok 'n South, and everything we tried at Blvd. Burger was great. Parking is free, the whole area feels laid back, and it's very walkable. I took Adored Grandson there to buy him a new fancy skateboard for his 17th birthday. The crew at Revolution Board Company got him situated in great style. There could be more retail, for sure. The past few years have been especially hard for retail shopping venues, but Old Town doesn't seem to lack for choices of day spas or hair salons. Essentially, it's evolving, and worth a visit. Their Saturday morning Certified Farmers Market's been going strong for over 30 years. Hoping to check that out soon.
