The store could definitely use some organizing. Very shocked there wasn't a kid section of clothes.

On March 2 and 4. 2026 your employee , a thin, small elderly, black man, gave me a basket and then pretended to be organizing things. He watched while I loaded 3 bags, all weighing in excess of 50 lbs, and several items from my back seat. As a result, I sprained my wrist and injured my back. I am 71 years and 4'10" tall. Large store with more clothes than anything. I found a small heavy aluminum pot for a good price. Cashier was friendly.

I mostly use this Goodwill to drop off items, since it's close to my house. I love thrift shopping but rarely shop here. Over the years, the prices have increased, and Goodwill is more expensive than other local thrift stores. The staff members seem to do their job, but don't exactly go the extra mile to make it a good experience. A simple "Thank you" when dropping off items, or offering to help get them out of your car, goes a long way. I will give this Goodwill credit for having a covered drop-off zone for donations. It's basically a drive-thru donation lane, so I don't have to turn off the car. It's also convenient to Glenn McConnell parkway and has lots of parking. read more

Palmetto Goodwill - Thrift Stores Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

I am in search for old hardback books to use as decorations, so stopped in to see what I could find. Although, I did not find any books that were what I was looking for. I was amazed at how clean and organized this smaller Goodwill location was. There was some trash on the floor and one of the workers right away went to get the broom to pick it up when he saw it. They had the typical variety of items like your home goods, a few furniture, items, books, and CDs and videos, but the majority of the store was focused on the clothing. I did search through a few racks and did see some good name brands. The employees were definitely friendly and polite. I would stop by again when I am on the hunt for something, you never know what you will find. read more

Goodwill Store here on Shelby Ray Court off of Glenn McConnell Expressway is a convenient location. This location is well staffed and easy to drop of Charitable Donations! Very clean Store inside as well. They deserve a solid 4 Stars !! read more

This Goodwill location is one of the better locations in town. It's very clean, organized, and the staff is super nice here. I usually go to Goodwill looking for things that are cool, neat, strange, weird, etc. Here I've been able to find a little bit of it all. They have a decent selection for men's clothing and lots of clothing for women and children. Also was able to find some cool Christmas decor here right before Christmas that we displayed and donated back after the holiday. read more

Pulled up to donate some clothing after a long 12 hour shift at the hospital and was greeted with horrible mean looks and gentleman refused to talk to me. I had a few questions and he just walked off completely. Called and spoke to somebody at the store and they said that he does talk. Maybe not the best person I have when you're needing help and donating clothes for a good cause. Next time I will take my good somewhere else because I provide excellent customer service every day and I don't appreciate being treated the way I was today. read more

I've only been here once, and honestly, haven't been inside a Goodwill before, although I donate to them all the time. I didn't want to give four stars (yet) because I wouldn't consider myself a "fan" but I will come back again and give them another shot. I wasn't expecting them to be organized like a department store, but I was expecting a little bit of order on the shelves. Maybe I came in on a bad day, which is why I'll come back again. Goodwill provides work for people who cannot get work. I'm proud to support them. Is everything perfect, no. Are there great deals, yes. Are the people friendly and accommodating, yes. So, what is the problem. If you don't like used things, this is not for you. But, I've found name brand items at prices so cheap, that I feel guilty buying them. Yes, I did just say that! I actually prefer this goodwill over James Island and ones in Mt. Pleasant. They have a huge selection of items and I've been able to score some great gems here. Nothing is overpriced, the workers are nice from what I've experienced, and I really enjoy coming to this goodwill on days off to look for little gems. read more

Went there with a lot of goods this morning. They all stayed inside with no effort to help me unload or sort the items. They take our donated items and sell them for profit. The very least they could help a bit and offer a receipt.. You do know the owner has taken our donations and become a multimillionaire. This will be the last trip I will make to this place. The Salvation Army does a great job of dispersing your donations. I will go there in the future and hope you will consider the same. read more

One of the better Goodwills in the Charleston area. The workers are constantly in motion, putting away merchandise and keeping everything neat and orderly. There is a TON of women's clothing at this location. Not too much at all for mens' clothing. The housewares area is organized well. Great place to stop in if you're looking for a bargain. Tons of high-end brands, you just have to look for them. read more

This particular Goodwill Store is absolute garbage! Not worthy of the Goodwill name. The employees in the donations section are like wild animals, throwing things at each other, sword fighting with lamps, and when you are standing there waiting for a receipt, they talk about you as if you aren't even there; using phrases like, "he's not leaving". These people are extremely uneducated, have no idea what is being brought in, and rude. Goodwill needs to intervene here! read more

This is hands down the worst donation experience I've had. I have always donated to Goodwill in NC &I had a partnership to get people careers. This location I just dropped donations may have ruin my entire experience with Goodwill. I've never seen so many donations sitting outside (which is a good thing) for the community and getting people to work. The Representative "MJ" was rude/unfriendly. Tossing boxes and donations around with no care. I got of my car and greeted him, he just glared as he didn't care. I asked where should I leave my large amount of clothing donations due to the massive disarray of all the donations outside. Without any eye contact or greeting "MJ" just started to pull everything out of my truck and throw it towards a cardboard bin (scratching my car). I stated I will place my donations where needed just asking where he wanted them. After he threw a orange safety cone in front of another car, I asked for a receipt. He quickly filled out the form and rudely handed it to me, again with no eye contact or acknowledgement. read more

I would consider myself a thrift store connoisseur, and Goodwill's generally have the best prices of them all. The only thing is you have to commit time and love to this treasure hunt. I would have to say that this is my favorite Goodwill in the Charleston area. Mostly because it is close to my house, but also because the staff is so friendly. You can tell they work really hard and they are always so helpful. I have read from other reviews that the furniture is the best part. I would definitely have to disagree. I have never found any good furniture there, but maybe I am just going at the wrong times. I particularly love their housewares. They have the best vintage cookware like pyrex and I even found a mid century fondue set in mint condition. I love coming here on my lunch break! read more

Love this Goodwill! This Goodwill has a lot of hidden treasures, and it's always well organized. This Goodwill gets a lot of quality donations which make it a great place to shop! The Goodwill employees are always ready to help, and have great attitudes. I especially love being able to drop off donations in the "drive thru" lane. This is a really decent Goodwill and I would give it 4 or even 5 stars if they were a little bit quicker at the checkout and if they're housewares were priced a little bit more reasonably some of their house wares are totally ridiculous and yes I do know that they have some sale days from time to time but still there still priced very high and I just can't say it enough that the check out people are slow slow slow it is a cool store and they do always have a groovy music playing so read more

It's a Goodwill. Things look dirty and dated. It's almost expected... I don't care for their clothes or housewares in general (not their fault, it's just what is donated) but their furniture is pretty solid. We picked up 4 solid wood dining chairs (two separate pairs that looked quite similar) for under $30 total. It was an awesome find! Their book section is virtually nonexistent, which is sad. Also, no real jewelry section. Staff is nice enough, though not fast or extremely efficient. All in all, it's worth a stop on your thrifting adventures. read more
