He had a rough past, but came to us healthy and needing to be neutered before he was available for adoption. The Rescue Alliance uses Healing Hearts Mobile Vet Unit, which services animals from rescue groups and in low income areas. After calling several times I was able to take our great dane to their Mobile Vet Unit when they were in the East Valley to get neutered. I brought him in around 9:00am to a staff of 4 friendly women! They made me feel at ease. I got a call several hours later, letting me know he was ready to be picked up at noon. They helped me load him up and gave me plenty of instruction on his post surgical care. I really appreciate people that are able to help animals in need - so 5 stars for Healing Hearts!

I was so impressed by the enthusiasm, depth of knowledge, and the fascinating discoveries shared along the way that I knew I wanted more--so signing up for Talk & Taste was an easy decision. And it did not disappoint. What stood out most was how beautifully organized the entire experience was. At each stop, passionate volunteers shared unique edible desert delights--perfectly paired with just the right amount of information to spark curiosity and leave you wanting more. A heartfelt thank you to Mimi, Diane, Abby, and the many dedicated volunteers who make this "best kept secret" so special. I had some groceries to donate to the Foothills Food Bank. A outside staff person directed me to…read morethe donation area. The instructions ask that a donator ring the bell for service. A staff person came out to help me. I gave him the bags of donations. He asked that I step into the warehouse. He weighed the bags and gave me a receipt and some information regarding the food bank. He was thrilled over the donation and thanked me. This building is a huge improvement from their previous home. They have a large warehouse. Volunteers sort groceries. In fact, there are many positions open for volunteers to help. Plenty of parking in their lot.

These ladies were…read moreamazing to work with and you could tell right away that they truly loved the animals and their first consideration was for their well being. This love is reflected back to us from our kittens because they were so well cared for. Everything about our experience was positive and we enjoyed getting to know Lisa and Ariella and we will stay in touch with them so they know their babies are enjoying their new home. I have volunteered with several animal shelters and have never seen a better run dog shelter than…read morethis one. The owner, Luisa, is amazing and truly cares for all of the senior dogs. I fostered a dog from here and eventually adopted him. I continue to volunteer with them because of how well run it is. The dogs that come in all go to see a veterinarian. They receive all their vaccines, dental work, and even surgeries needed. They do a great job of vetting fosters and adopters. Their facility is beautiful and clean. Their adoption fees are very reasonable. They have a wonderful trainer that works with the dogs as well. Dogs go out on field trips, walks, and even visit senior center residents. I definitely recommend this organization.

Bo was my second experience, although he was not in the sanctuary as long, he is still sweet and lovable, and I am greatful to Forever Loved for rescuing both my dogs, and all the other dogs, they help to find forever homes for. I also want to say, I love that they have different ways for people to help them out, even an Amazon wish list, which I go on to donate Green Beans for Miss Ruby and her friends.

Anthony Bates was 20 years old when he died from undiagnosed Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, HCM…read more Anthony, an only child, was an honor student, an Eagle Scout, and a Division I college football player at Kansas State University. Anthony starting playing football when he was nine years old. He played other sports throughout his youth including baseball, soccer, wrestling, but football was his true love. Each year he was required to have a "pre-participation sports physical." Heart examinations were not part of this annual process. Anthony's HCM might have been detected when he had an EKG in conjunction with surgery on his finger, but there no detection of his heart problem then either. Though EKGs are required in surgery, 10% of people with HCM have normal EKGs. Apparently, Anthony must have been in that 10%. Young, strong and a dedicated athlete, Anthony never complained of any symptoms. Sadly, his perfect health was an illusion.
