Convenient location for this area. Served a particular need well. Staff attentive, helpful, though a bit awkward.

I feel badly for all the people who've had bad experiences donating their vehicles…read more Every charity on Yelp has bad reviews and low star scores from people who've donated their vehicles and didn't understand who's liable for the vehicle after that, nor who's responsibility it is to transfer ownership. The truth is, it's not really the charity's fault. When you donate, (or even sell) a vehicle, YOU must fill out a form through the DMV. If you sell it, you can hope the buyer will do that, but if they don't, it will still be in your name and your responsibility. Even if you sell it to a junk yard, assuming it will never run again, if you don't take it out of your name by filing with the DMV, and someone gets it running again, it could mean trouble for you. So whether you sell, junk, or donate a vehicle, the DMV holds YOU responsible until YOU fill out a form and submit it saying you no longer own that vehicle. Really, it's a bad policy of the DMVs to not have an online form and make it easier. There are some states where they accept a mailed in form, yet others you have to go in person. Regardless, this is not the charity's fault. Yes, the Hope contact person is almost always out, on vacation, away from the office, etc. but this is a charitable organization, they might be a volunteer. I was able to purchase an excellent vehicle and they gave me a good price, as it was going to a single mom of three. So the charity and I both were greatly donated by a wealthy family's decision to donate the vehicle instead of selling it themselves. If you're able to donate your vehicle, you should!

Strolled through the woman's clothing and spotted a leopard pattern, it was a new blouse with tags from the Avenue. second find was a dress new with tags. Price was a bit high considering that it's the Goodwill. They were new so in the cart they went. Also found an awesome jumpsuit from Lane Bryant new with tags in a beautiful color. And if you been to Lane Bryant you know their clothing is not cheap. Regular price was over $100.00 and it was only $15.49 great deal. Too bad the fit wasn't right. I should have taken a picture, missed opportunity. Next walked the house wear isle and found a few good items. There wax a good verity of vintage goblets in different colors and styles. Found some milk glass egg holders but they were a bit pricey so I passed and now I wish I would have bought them, ugh. Did get a milk glass goblet and hope to find more in the future for a total of 6. Found a great wire basket with copper handles to hold all my recycle and shopping bags. This Goodwill almost always has great items in the house wear department and good clothes but it's a bit more expensive than other Goodwill stores.

This particular spot was a little more challenging than the others I have been to. Parking is tight in this strip mall. I assumed drop-off was around the back and went around looking to no avail. Drop off ended up being a couple of doors down next to the salon. I wish they had better signage to avoid the run around. Not a biggie.

I first learned about Sacred Heart through research for one of my college classes, and I was…read moreexcited to volunteer because I truly believe in the organization's mission. During my time volunteering, I did enjoy getting to know some of the families who came through the lines, connecting with other college students, and working with a few kind staff members. Helping people in the community was meaningful. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to the behavior of some long-time "regular volunteers." I frequently observed volunteers speaking harshly to people receiving food, yelling at them, and showing little patience when there were language barriers. I even witnessed a volunteer smack someone's hand away from the produce boxes. While I understand there are rules that must be followed, the way some people were treated felt disrespectful and lacking empathy. I also noticed inconsistency in how rules were enforced. Volunteers were told not to leave their stations or keep water on the floor, yet some long-time volunteers regularly ignored these rules themselves. There was also frequent gossip and negative talk about other volunteers. Sacred Heart serves people who are often already going through difficult circumstances. Compassion and respect should always be at the center of that work. Unfortunately, I didn't always see that reflected in the environment. I hope the organization takes time to evaluate volunteer conduct and reinforce the importance of empathy when working with the community.
