Some of the items don't seem to be priced right for the quality and the children's area has quite a lot of gross (visibly dirty) & stained items. $3.99 for a single STAINED baby onsie. There was a girls sundress for $5.99 with a tennis ball sized yellow stain on the front. I feel like if there was an area for stained stuff, or even if it was like $1 per stained piece, or fill a bag for $X, I would take a chance buying to spot treating it. When I asked at the front checkout if they would give a discount because of the stains, they said "no it's priced the way it is because of the stain", acting like that was a low price! read more

I could genuinely explore this store for hours. This thrift shop has a lot of little knickknacks and things that you wouldn't see at other thrift stores, and all at decent prices. Some of the interesting things for sale include bikes, furniture, party supplies, arts and crafts, decor, and of course, plenty of kids' and men's/women's clothes. The store is expansive and well-organized (for a thrift store) and it would definitely be one of my go-to's if I lived closer! read more

Generally impressed by this thrift store (for women's clothes specifically), with a couple small areas for improvement. Selection: 9/10 - high quality brands, but of course you'll still see Forever21 and SHEIN stuff. 5-10% of pieces had stains/tears so take a close look at everything before buying. Organization: 10/10 - things are actually sorted by size, as well as color! The racks aren't so overcrowded that it's an arm workout to look through things like some other places (*cough* Goodwill). Honestly this alone makes thrifting such a better experience here. Fitting rooms: 7/10 - they're large and have mirrors but there are no hooks to hang garments, and they're fairly dark. They also stay locked so you have to wait around for an employee. Checkout: 3/10 - cashier appeared unhappy to be at work and frustrated by questions. read more

The cashier Sam at the register is a jerk! He was so rude, "no price no sale!" I found a pair of Nike shoes that I really liked and he couldn't sell them to me because they didn't have a price on them. Do you know how many times I have donated to the store? This is the worst thrift store I have ever been to! I was completely surprised at checkout when the cashier informed me that they don't accept $50 or $100 bills due to their strange policy. I use to love donating to Hope, knowing my donation were helping others as the prices for items were marker reasonable. Exsoecially, in this difficult time when families are struggling because of inflation. I will no longer donate. I went in last week to browse and noticed second hand slippers, nothing near new $10.00, a dress $13.00 not even in style, blouses worn in the 70's $8.00 and faded. Better off going to Ross, Dd's or Burlington. Who ever hired the new pricer must re-trained him or her. read more

Just wow! I have shopped here over the past 4 years but since about February/March, the store has been superb! Color coded clothing styles, with ALL on the hanger symmetrical with shoes organized overhead neatly with matches. Even the toy areas are tidy! The customer service is really special and sincere. There was an Asian gentleman that maybe a manager, and I have overheard him a couple times patiently, detailed and encouraging remind employees of certain details to check. read more

The donation process is really quick and easy. I recommend calling ahead to hear about their hours for accepting donations as it can change. They told me where to drive up and a worker came out and helped me unload my items and sent me off with a receipt. read more

Its a nice place to browse and find whatever you need. Everything is organized, pretty much. I do agree the shirt, blouses etc being $10 is a tad much, as it's 2nd hand and should be lowered . I hope eventually lowered by owner or management. More expensive things are glassed in - in front opposite of cashiers. Good to look at if curious of finds. One of my favorite thrift stores in san jose! I have been going here almost every other week to look for new steals. The prices here are super reasonable, exactly what a thrift shop should be. Everything Ive gotten has been under $10 and you would be surprised on what you find here. I've gotten some LL bean quarter zips, nice gym shirts, and my gf has gotten lots of work clothes here. The good: This place is huge and is very organized. The clothes and items are all spread out so you don't have a difficult time looking through the clothes. They have older items but also some brand new ones in packaging (like socks). They have furniture, men's clothing, women's clothing and children's toys, books and clothes. There is plenty of parking. The kid's clothing were all hung nicely on coat hangers and were extremely organized. The bad: The children's clothing section was smaller than I expected. The shoes are in a shoe area but are also above the clothing racks. I think it'd be easier to navigate if the shoes were all in the same spot. There were some Karens inside who weren't wearing masks and no one reinforced their mask-requirement policy. They had 8 cash registers but only 2 cashiers. I was in line for a pretty long time on a Tuesday. I got scrub pants for $10.99. You can find brand new scrubs at Walmart for $12-13 so the deal wasn't great. They also had some picture frames that were $7 that I thought were worth much less. The interesting: The Karens that were inside were pretty rude and pushy with the nice cashier lady. I came back here with my boyfriend today and we had so much fun here! They have a huge selection of items. The employees were also incredibly friendly, we were greeted as soon as we walked into the door. We walked out with 5 items for $25. Today I was pleasantly surprised, when I visited the (Almaden) San Jose Hope Thrift store for the first time in almost a year. Then it was not so happy experiences, now is vastly improved & I like it here again! It is much neater, cleaner, organized, welcoming, pleasant now since a while ago. I'm saying before summer it wasn't worth a visit. Messy, dirty, no organization in sizes, no continuity within size designations... always hangers and/or clothes on the floor under nearly every row. And the toys & games section was hopelessly scattered. And you know I didn't complain but I didn't come back. Till today. I was astounded at the differences I noticed. I found my size IN my size. Wow. I saw spaces between garments. Wow. The glass cases contents spaced, visible, contents in order. I always enjoy browsing here, now more. Overall, I noticed a cleaner, happier store. I got my favorite Thrift Store back again! YAAAAY! Clothes, household, art, furniture, purses, toys, glasses, etc. I looked for & complimented who turned out to be the Manager, sharing with him my delight of the dramatic improvements. This place can be a hit or miss sometimes with the selection of items they have. What makes me knock down the stars is the not-so-friendly girl cashier in the front who only takes credit cards. No hello. No thank you and she's constantly barking at the customers. If you hate your job so much, don't work in an environment where you have to deal with actual humans.
