Kind and friendly staff personally and professionally. My mom used to leave stuff for them to come pick up on our driveway and that was never an issue for them to come and pick it up. I'm a little disappointed with my first drop off here. They've already closed half of the building, and as of 1/28/2020 they won't take any donations at this location. I've been trying to not support Goodwill after learning about their controversial business model. But since Hope rarely picks up in my neighborhood, I had no choice but to seek out their donation center. This one is closest, but I am bummed that they won't have the donation at this site. They lost some points, because the receptionist appeared to be super annoyed with me that I had donations. I guess I'm sorry I tried to help out. I'll be looking at other organizations. read more

love love love this group. They always give me a reason to clear out my unwanted stuff that I'm too lazy to pack in my car, drive to good will, drop it off and then come back home. They send out these awesome notices about when they will be driving by your neighborhood and all you have to do is leave the stuff on your curb. They will always tell you what they need and all you have to do is look at home and ponder 'do I really need that?' And then they magically drive their truck and pick up your stuff--it's like the opposite of Christmas day :) read more

I got a flyer from them saying they'd pickup on a certain day. I had a bunch of stuff so called and asked if they wanted to schedule a time. Never heard back. I put things out first thing in the morning. It was out there all day waiting. They never came. It's incredibly rude to make people do all that work and not even come out. I called to ask what was going on, again no response. They may do some good, but I will never again support and organization as inconsiderate as this. read more

I had a terrible experience trying to donate to this organization! Received a flyer at home stating they would pick up on February 14th, and spent much time and effort collecting items and dragging them to the street from my unit at the very bottom of my complex. I even broke a sweat! Yet, on pick up day, no one ever came! four other families in my complex also donated and left items out all night and into the following day! I called spoke to a very nice woman named Megan who told me they're driver had already been down our street the previous day and that he was unable to come back today to get the items. In our complex we are fined for leaving unattended items outside. Why should I pay a fine trying to donate to folks who say they value my donations? I will not be donating to this organization any longer as I do not feel they value my time, or effort, or donated items. I'm looking for ways to get off their mailing list so I no longer have to receive their fraudulent adverts...but be aware if you are relying on pickups to donate...they do not always follow through. read more

It is always easier to part with those things that are hard to let go of when we're sending them off to Hope. They have provided precious opportunities to our daughter with Down syndrome and many of her buddies from early infant home-based programs for medically fragile children with disabilities through work programs for adults with more serious disabilities. We just took a load on Monday to the Santa Clara location on 3100 Alfred Street - a super nice senior volunteer took our donations and we left with new inspiration to clean out the rest of the garage! I received the flyer saying that they will pick up donation rain or shine last Friday. I spent my time to collect as many items so that it's worth their pickup effort. But they didn't pick up as promised in their flier. I got home late, so I couldn't call them that day. I thought if I called them on Monday, they'd pick up. So I left my items (about 4 big boxes) on my front yard the whole weekend. But when I called on Monday noon, the representative told me the truck driver said their truck was already full; there wouldn't be another pick up until 2-3 weeks later. They should know that once we put the items out, we don't want to take them back in and wait for another time; plus, there won't be any guarantee that the items will be picked up next time. It may end up like this time that the items are put out and won't be picked up. That response basically tells me that they don't care for our donation, go elsewhere to donate. Please don't waste your time and effort with this company. There are plenty other services that truly care to get our donations to the people in need. read more

I just dropped off quite a few clothes to their office on Alfred street. It is closer to my house than the truck in Cupertino, and it is really simple to drop off your stuff. LOVE that it is a LOCAL charity. read more

Purchased a bike from Hope Services yesterday at their Bike Store located at the back of the building. Very nice people and they were kind enough to walk me through their available bikes. Very knowledgeable people working there and did not try to up-sell me. Picked up a bike to keep me riding on my downtime while I am temporarily working in the Bay Area. Prices are very reasonable and the best part is the money goes to charity to help people in need. Great service ! read more

This is the second time they have NOT picked up donations on our street after sending out their yellow mailers with a date and I even called the day before to confirm pick up! This is on the La Habra donation center in So Cal for being careless. 3 houses on a 1 block street had things out by the end of driveways and the driver of the donation truck sped down the street not even glancing at the curbside. I called after that and the woman in the office said she was sorry the route was over for the day! RUDE! Those yellow cards are going directly into the trash from now on! It did not help to schedule at all. Now we all have to find other places to donate or put everything away in the 100 degree day. Also this group probably does good work in Northern CA Bay Area, they have no services in So Cal so know that you are NOT donating to any local group when you see those yellow cards asking for your goods. read more

We received a postcard in the mail from Hope services. We put our donations in a location with good visibility from the street, and we taped the postcard on top of the items. The items were picked up as promised. Thanks for making it easy to help others in need. read more

Terrible experience trying to donate here. I had a nice girls bike and noticed that Hope Services has a large website soliciting Bike Donations at four locations. I called the Santa Clara location before I made the 30 minute drive to donate the bike. I was told they accepted bikes. When I got there I had to hunt for somebody and finally some apathetic millennial came to greet me and inform me that they did not accept bikes. After I informed this person I had called prior to driving there to verify the donation she acted like she cared less and walked away without comment. Go to Salvation Army or Good Karma Bike Shop - don't waste your time with these clowns. I wouldn't give this organization $10 if they were the last charity in town. read more

As with other reviewers, I attempted to make a donation to Hope after receiving a flyer in the mail. I called to make arrangements for the items I planned to donate, as I wanted to ensure they'd be there for pick-up. I was assured the driver would be on our street at a specific window, but they never came by, nor did they pick up our neighbor's donations. Hope Services mailed a post card soliciting donations. I blocked out the pickup date, collected my items, clearing much needed space in my garage. I felt pleased that others might benefit from my donated items. I had to use an open curb on my condo street. By noon, no one had come. I phoned the number. No one called back. By 8:30 pm on pickup day, I had to load the items into my car to take to the Salvation Army - a place one can rely on. For donations, I suggest that you take your items to a reliable agency rather than placing them curbside for Hope Services. I'm pretty mad about doing all of this preparation only to look like a messy neighbor. read more

They sent me a notice they would be coming to my street to pickup used clothing. We spent quite some time setting everything out and even called beforehand to alert them of the pickup. They never showed. I think we will just stick to Goodwill or Salvation Army. read more

So badly I wanted to donate lot's of great things that I no longer want, BUT they don't take any furniture, you have to put it curbside, they won't come in the house (no important) BUT, they won't give you a time. Time to call Goodwill. read more

The Driver even picked up my boxes on my front porch in Sunnyvale, per my request. When I left them curbside, those walking by would take most everything before he could even pick up. This organization can do alot of good. Hopefully management can solve the need for more drivers, trucks, and volunteers; as that seems to be what has been discouraging to some. read more

Sent a flyer saying they would pick up on Tues, Nov 22nd, rain or shine. I use a cane & had to have a neighbor help me. I called them about 3:30 pm & they said their driver was headed back. I now have to find someone to bring the stuff back to my garage. They said the driver came up my street & I said he did not as my stuff was out by 7:30 am. They said they would pick it up tomorrow, but I am having surgery & will be in the hospital for several days & I don't want to put it out again & them not picking it up. They will never get my donation again!!!!! Poor business practices. read more

I went to their Friday bicycle sale which was advertised on craigslist. Apparently they have the used bike sale almost every Friday. There was a large selection of bikes, mostly for kids and a few adult bikes. The condition of the bikes vary and sale is final and in cash so make sure the bike you are buying works well. They let you test ride their bikes in the parking lot. Be sure to bring your helmet as they require kids to wear them during test rides. They do have some helmets to borrow, but it's better to bring your own. The staff was friendly and patient. I was able to find an older model Trek kids bike that was perfect size for my son. The paint was a bit scratched and the seat needed to be replaced, but the gears and brakes worked well. I saved a lot of money compared to buying a new Trek bike which he would outgrow. And the money spent on the bike directly helps their charity organization. read more

hope services visits my my hometown, hollister, ca about every 6-8 weeks and accepts small household items and clothing (no furniture or large appliances). they mass-mail a flyer in advance with donation details that i can attach to bags or boxes left near the curb. they do not schedule pick-ups in our area by request but i am told they can be dropped off at 650 san benito street, suite 120, mondays thru fridays from 8am to 3:30. it feels good to donate to an organization that does so much good locally and in california for people with disabilities-- especially when they make it easy with curbside collections. i haven't had problems with pick-ups but i have heard of mistakes so they are not perfect in their coordination efforts. as far as i know, they are the only local charitable organization in san benito county that will collect donations... read more
