Usually at the Goodwills im used to, they have racks and items are somewhat sorted.. this looked like they just threw stuff in bins and it was a yard sale, where people were sorting through the bins.. Goodwill Darboy WI 7/6/23 @2:35pm A long time ago when I used to live in the Appleton Wisconsin area family that came in from out of town. We always had to make a stop at the store. I like this store because it's very clean on the inside and people are very helpful. I had to take my cousin here who's up there in years and is disabled . There is plenty of parking in the front of the whole store for disabled people. Also, there's an area where I can drop off goods. Please don't put them in a landfill. If you have something you don't need consider going here if you live close by. Don't stick it in your garage taking up room when you can give it to somebody that could really really use it. The store is arranged according me again, very clean on the inside employees very hopeful while I was there for about 45 minutes. A lot of people came in the store or we're leaving the store. I was on a mission to find some frames because I do a lot of artwork, and I was very pleased with what I found the items I got were priced accordingly my cousin also was able to find what she was looking for for a very small amount of money. The mission and intent of Goodwill Industries is to provide a good charitable service for its local community. I get that and I commend them for it. What I don't agree with is offering people local garbage and calling it a "bargain". A Bargain; 2. a thing bought or offered for sale more cheaply than is usual or expected. "the secondhand table was a real bargain" synonyms: good buy, cheap buy; (good) value for money, surprisingly cheap; informalsnip, steal, giveaway. There's very little to no value in most of the items that are displayed in large blue troughs. It's sad really. I work in the waste industry and I believe in recycling and reusing as much as possible. However what I witnessed in this place is neither of those based upon items discovered and uncovered as you'll see in the photos I am submitting. If they would take the time to sort inbound items a bit better perhaps people's experience wouldn't be so terrible. I believe Goodwill Industries can do much better in the future. read more

I purchased a set of dvds about classical composers via the shopgoodwill website. The items in question were very clean, unmarked (no random pen or marker), in excellent condition for a used item, and fairly priced. The shipping department did a fantastic job. Kudos for choosing an appropriate box and recyclable stabilizers. No signs of damage over the 2,000 mile trip. I definitely recommend checking out the auction listings. I have a friend who swears by "the outlet," as she calls it, so I met her here recently to do some shopping. I clearly looked like a newb, as a worker asked me if it was my first time. Keep in mind, I think all this stuff failed to sell at actual Goodwill stores, so as some folks have mentioned, there is a lot of CRAP to dig through, in dubious condition and cleanliness. The signs in the store actually say that gloves are recommended, if that gives you any idea! However, everything is contained in bins, which seem to be sorted by clothes and not-clothes, as well as books and VHS tapes (no DVDs here!). They brought out new bins on a regular basis, which were covered, and though people lined up to get the first crack at them, everyone was very well behaved, waiting until all the bins were out and uncovered and the workers gave the okay. At that point, the rummaging sounds were unbelievable! If you are a shopper or bargain hunter, this is the place for you, as they sell by the pound. My modest purchases amounted to a whopping $2.48, so even if clothes turn out not to fit (I'd recommend washing them before trying on...), you can just donate them back and it's no big deal. Beware, however, that the shopping urge can take over, leaving you fuming at the next person to pick up an item that you rejected, even if you didn't remotely need it. I can see how this could become addictive! As far as customer service, let's get real. This is a "do it yourself" thrift experience, so the fact that they actually bagged my stuff for me seemed like a high point. Embrace it for what it is, or stay away. read more

My friend and I drove 2 hours and 30 minutes out to this location. Walking through the automatic doors was a surreal experience for us. There were dozens of bins full of clothing and other miscellaneous items. At first, this felt like a dream. As we rifled through each bin, I began to notice the selection seemed stale. Many pieces of clothing were for children or covered in stains. Though we did find some treasures in the junk, I have to admit I was indubitably disappointed in the selection offered. The prices were obviously amazing since everything is priced by the pound instead of by each individual item. As for the cleanliness of every item, I doubt the staff washes the donated items before putting them on display. All in all, I do believe every thrift-lover should at least experience a Goodwill Outlet. Hopefully there is a better selection at this location if you make a visit or find a better one. read more

prices are awesome. Selection varies. We got a perfectly intact office chair here for $0.99. Customer service...we've had people downright ignore us and not say a word to us at checkout, then turn to a coworker and chatter away happily. There are some people who just don't belong in the customer service industry. read more

So so so cheap. I believe it's $1.09 for a pound of clothing and $0.99 a pound for household items. You just need to spend some time digging and I guarantee you will find some great things. I do recommend that you wear gloves if you don't want to touch anything nasty. But trust me, the risk is totally worth the payoff! read more

As most of the Goodwills North of Fon du Lac are owned by the same company, they're virtually all the same. There's too much emphasis on low-end new items (usually seasonal). That's great if you are looking for a new shirt for work. That (and their habit of keeping collectible donated items for online sales or Halloween) isn't so great if you're thrift shopping for something cool and kitschy. read more

I hope Corporate Goodwill sees this. I recently was visiting Appleton over the weekend, from here originally, and I hit up 3 different Goodwills with my mom. Calumet location, Appleton rd and one out by the mall. I have never seen such high prices for a "Goodwill used clothing store" in my life. Even thrift stores in Milwaukee and Chicago, prices are lower. I noticed particularly at the Goodwill behind pick n save on Calumet road now has a boutique section, supposed to be nicer brands so they price them higher. These "higher brands" are really items from The Limited, Express, Calvin Klein. Not super high end if you ask me. Some were, however. Such as Michael Kors, and those prices were VERY high. $40 for a dress? I can find that cheaper at Macy's in clearance. Now, I picked up a tank top that was from Banana Republic and it was listed for $24.99. That is insane! For a Goodwill? Isn't your mission to be able to help everyone to purchase clothes for a lesser price? They had a fake fur coats there for $50-$80! I honestly was disgusted. My mom also found things in the decor section that still had price tag on them and the Goodwill price was actually MORE than the original price sticker--which was still left on Isn't that illegal? I buy and sell on Ebay so I go here looking for bargains, things I can either use myself, for my home or to sell. I wish they were located closer to me but on the other hand, probably good they are not or I would be there every day. It can be addictive, is a hit and miss when you go for sometimes I come back with a cart full and others times just a few items. You just never know what you will find but here are some gems I have got and profited big time from in resale of. I have found a perfect man's Hardley Davidson leather jacket that I sold on Craigslist for $50, I also found one of those sleep apnea masks with hose (sealed in package) that I sold on Ebay for $ 92.00. I found some freshwater pearls in a case I sold for $25 on Ebay, Barbie doll stuff which is a hot item on Ebay along with quite a few old vintage dolls which I sold from prices ranging $12 on up to $150. Sure you have to wash stuff but so what. I got an old stainless steel coffee pot perfect with all the insides which I sold for $25 on Ebay. I also picked up just two weeks ago two stuffed Easter rabbits with original tags on them. They were Dan Dee Collectors Choice (both were 24" to tip of ears) One just sold on Ebay for $96.00 plus buyer paid another $13 to ship it to California, and the other sold for $81,00 so I definitely like this place as a reseller and don't mind pawing through stuff to pick up some goodies with great profits to me while helping Goodwill in the process. Great buys on furniture.. I'll be back, I recommend wearing gloves for did cut myself going through stuff once in all the times I have been there for people toss things around and in process wreck stuff which is a shame. I do not recommend letting kids paw through bins which I have seen being done. Check out has always been pleasant and clerks friendly to me but see me in there all the time too. read more
