First off, I'm not someone to make a bad review, ever. With that being said, I think it is completely unethical and a bad business practice to sell something that is either broken, has missing pieces, or an empty container without the item that you paid money for. That would be called scamming people and/or theft.
My intention for this review is to spread awareness about this store's bad business practices. Sunnyside is a lower income community with a lot of farm workers so I doubt that they would ever complain or know where to complain to begin with. I feel it is our social, ethical and human responsibility to call out unfairness when we experience or witness it.
I purchased several toys here for my kids Christmas gifts. When my young ones went to open their gifts, it was very sad to see their little faces when they opened the boxes to see that their gifts that I purchased from this location. The toys were either broken, had missing pieces, or even missing the entire item inside the box all together.
If that experience wasn't bad enough, when we attempted to return the items, we were refused a return for the one missing the entire item inside the container. I paid money for this.
The first employee who was helping us, was friendly and had no issues with the return. As soon as the manager took over, she denied the return because "it did not have a tag". Seriously?
I'm so disappointed. I thought Goodwill stores stand for doing the right thing. And their management are supposed to reflect the company's values. At least, that's what I thought.
As I was leaving the store, other customers agreed with me and were appalled at the store manager's behavior. This isn't about the money, it's about integrity. Which, I thought is what these stores strive for.
I have placed a call and left a voice message for "Heather" at their headquarters (509) 735-7238 located in Kennewick. She has not returned my call. read more
