All profits go to support the Union Gospel Mission and as it were, it's the old Union Gospel Mission that was then transitioned into a store when they outgrew the space. It flows like the bottom level of the hotel, and now we know why! The selection of stuff is pretty vast, ranging from kitchen items, clothing, plenty of trinkets and a pretty good vinyl section. As with most thrift stores there's plenty of stuff that probably won't go with your current house, but while in there I was able to find a good number of things that did actually go with ours. Of all the thrift stores in the area that I've been in, I really felt like this one was the nicest, knowing that everything goes towards a good cause probably meant I bought a few more things. This place is absolutely adorable and has such a fun, thoughtfully put together feel. I especially loved how the clothing is organized by color. It makes browsing so much more enjoyable and honestly makes the store feel really cute and inviting. They also have different sections and displays throughout the shop that are styled around a theme, which I thought was such a fun touch. Some of the displays are so pretty that they almost feel like little boutique setups rather than a thrift store! The employees we interacted with were also very kind and welcoming, which always makes a thrift shopping experience even better. Definitely worth popping in if you're in the area and enjoy thrifting. That's what I get for buying a used dryer at a thrift shop. Be careful buying used appliances here!! If you're having trouble finding something, the staff I spoke to was friendly and helpful - they'll set you right with a smile. With both used and new books on the shelves, the prices are quite reasonable. Their "blind date with a book" feature is a fun addition and a great way to encourage trying new books. While I often prefer a bookstore that encourages exploration and comes with a little mystery, a place like Encore Books is perfect when you're looking for that one book you can't seem to find anywhere else. Excluding dinos, the town features an apocalyptic amount of small town urban blight and boarded up store-fronts. In this sobering landscape, HL Worden doesn't exactly stand out, but it is a funky little place worth a quick visit: they produce and retail kits for making your own tiffany-style stained glass lights, windows, etc. I think 90% of their business must be mail order or internet. Kinda goofy, but I find this little company strangely compelling and entertaining to visit. Hey the competition isn't tough, but Worden definitely makes the shortlist of "The Best of Granger."

She is exceptional with special orders, consistently sourcing titles for me (most often within a week) whenever they're available. Beyond the shelves, Anne creates a welcoming and vibrant community space by hosting a wide range of events, including multiple book clubs, painting nights, reading hours, book nook building workshops, tarot readings, and author signings. The amount of care, creativity, and effort she pours into supporting our local community is remarkable. I'm genuinely thrilled to have her store here in Yakima, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
