Whatever you do, do not shop at the union and idlewild i've made some purchases there before.That were full of bed bugs. The store, it's ravished by bed bugs and the cashews. Rely on you and have poor attitudes, because there's only one cashier, and they don't want to go and open the case to show you what you want to look at without an attitude. read more

The aisles & the clothing were very neatly displayed and & organized- there were workers constantly setting out new items and straightening the racks, which makes for easier shopping. The employees and the manager were fessional, courteous and helpful. DOWNSIDE: The prices have almost doubled in the past few years and that's the only thing that disappointed me . This location & the others on Memphis & Collierville have elevated prices considerable- to reflect a consignment shop as opposed to a thrift store---- so I didn't put very much in my basket at all. Consignment shops only sale current trendy fashions that are clean and recently washed and their knick knacks and Jewelry don't have dust on them and they are displayed on racks and you don't have to take them home and clean them immediately . A thrift store, which the GW is - has closing that hasn't always been washed and has stains and holes in them so they haven't been looked through and there's lots of knick knacks and glassware on the Isles that are broken or missing pieces . I've noticed that in addition to taking the lamp shades off the lamps, that you're also taking the hardware that holds on the shade and the finials off the tops of the lamps as well . So you can't even buy a lamp and go home and put a light bulb in it because there's nothing to hold a shade on it to block the naked bulb- I realized space is limited but I truly believe the lamps should be sold with the shades they came with and the finials attached on top . I believe that Used shoes , even leather ones, should not be priced at $35 or more in a thrift shop. GW started out as a corporation to HELP people- but the price gouging is not being tolerated by the consumers well and that's why their shelves and clothing racks are so full and overrun with inventory. I still had a good time perusing the aisles and my teenage daughter found several pair of pants and jeans and t-shirts she liked. They luckily had the chasing booths unlocked. read more

I have loved this Goodwill location for years and ALWAYS find a few things to pick up. Recently they have upped their shoe organization and the endcaps of the trinket section. A decent thrift store, but a little overpriced. I go in about 2-3 times a week to look for vintage and antique items to re-sell. Employees all seem to be pretty nice and helpful. Giving the place 2-stars because of the security guard. Has followed me around the store a few times. Seemed to be a certain "demographic" that he does this to.Talked to the store manager about this issue, but he didn't seem to be that concerned. read more

Favorite goodwill store, can't begin to describe and list all of the amazing houseware, furniture, and clothing I've found here. Boyfriend relocated to Memphis last year from northeast and has heavily relied on this place for many household and kitchen items. No need to buy new clothes or most things anymore, everything from vases to umbrellas and electronics or gadgets, is covered here. Great selection of items and extremely well organized. As a frugal person in more ways than one, I enjoy high end shopping to thrifting and donating to non-profit organizations. However, the Goodwill has gotten SO OVER PRICED until some of the prices are higher than the retail stores. And then the Employees are taught to beg for your change. When the Goodwill is not treating all these Employees fair. Low wages, strict work guidelines working with NO HELP, and definitely not proper training. I was in line for 40+ mins at the Union Avenue Memphis, TN location where one young lady was providing the best service she could. With at least 13 people in line, and another cashier had the nerves to come out fussing at her because she was taking care of business. There was so many other staff members throughout the store that could have aided in getting her some help, but they didn't. There can't be any real training because over 50% OF THE GARMENTS WAS DAMAGED BY STAFF PINCHING HOLES TRYING TO PLACE TAGS (I have pictures). The public needs to know the Goodwill does not respect the items, monetary gifts, nor time of their customers, and certainly not the staff being hired. Or the Goodwill would respect the many donations and acts of kindness that come their way. The Goodwill is damaging products, goods, and services across the board. I want to see some changes before I trust you to anymore business where I am always trying to support. GOODWILL MAKE SOME EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT CHANGES FOR EVERYONE!!! read more

I just bought two short sleeve shirts an a pair of swim shorts for $19.95. The swim shorts had $3.00 on them but the two shirts were unmarked. Being used donated items I surely didn't expect to pay more than four or five dollars for them. I was a little stressed with being on a budget an one of the items had a green tag that suspose to take off 50%. I told the guy checking out about the tag and he replied the plastic attached to the tag suspose to be green... I've been shopping there before he ever started working there and never heard that... I feel cheated by the store... Right is Right n that was Wrong. read more
