The people working there are friendly and helpful, although it seems to be a bit understaffed. The Fairlawn Salvation Army thrift store used to be one of my favorites, then they eliminated some of the discount colors and then went to a system with most of the clothes being priced according to what they are, i.e. pants and shirts are $4.99 and there is one color that is half price (although on Wednesdays everything except one color are half price). On my most recent visit they have backtracked a bit so that most of the brick a brack and shoes are individually priced. There are still some good values, however the selection seems to be not as good and it can be confusing what certain things cost. The advantage of the current system is that if you find a high quality piece of clothing you do get it for a good price. The non-clothing selection has definitely decreased, the selection is limited and there are not a lot of interesting items. In the past I have found some really nice items, but now it seems like most of the stuff is nothing really special. Overall a pretty good thrift store, but not worth a trip just for thus store.

I spent $80 and got so many beautiful clothes and glassware, scarves. Staff was so nice and attentive. They have new stuff donated everyday, too. Lots of Furniture too! Located in a small shopping plaza, the Discovery Shop gets great donations so it is always worth checking out for housewares, art, decor, clothes and furniture. I almost always find some interesting items including wood carvings, shirts, suit jackets, shoes and assorted other items. Recently the shop acquired the store next door and have expanded with more furniture and other larger household goods. Each week they have a half off color and then the last weekend of the month the whole store is half off. This Discovery Shop often has some very high end items that are really impressive. If you are thrifting and looking for better items a would strongly recommend the Discovery Shop, even better the money generated from the shop go to a great cause. The volunteer staff is always friendly and helpful. Plus if you sign for every $100 you spend you get a $10 credit, so over time the prices are even better then listed. Go and check them out.

It helps that this is a donation-only location, and there's no thrift store here, so Goodwill can concentrate on the intake side of things. I dig Goodwill's mix of employment-for-those-who-want-it and lack of religious affiliation; Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul both do good work but sometimes irk me.
