Prob cuz it's summer now so that stuff isn't bought up. They had a lot of jeans in all sizes but not so much colored pants. I'm looking for a volunteer work outfit, khaki pants and polo. I'm not sure why I continue to go back to this Goodwill location. I donate about once a month. Today I brought a carload of things over for donation. It filled an entire cart that was brought out. There were several cars there all unloading at the same time. On the top of my pile in the cart I had carefully laid a fragile holiday wreath that has adorned my front door the last several Christmases. It was made of twigs and small red berries, still in great condition. There were also some breakables underneath it. One of the employees came out and took a TV from the next car behind me and dropped it on top of the wreath in my cart. I said oof you just crushed the wreath I'm donating. The girl said "that's just a wreath and it ain't gonna smoosh" as I heard the twigs crunch. I wasn't going to stand there and disagree with her, but it made me realize that I will never bring another donation item back to that location ever again. She made me feel like what I was donating didn't matter. That wreath is probably in the trash now. I got no "thank you" and no receipt offered. I was having a pretty good morning until I rolled up to donate. I did drive around the front and go in and speak with a manager. I let her know how disappointed I was with the attitude of the girl in back. She was apologetic. I'm tired of poor customer service. After working in retail for more than 35 years, I know how to treat a customer and that was not it. Most of the employees who take donations back there are not very pleasant. I will head to St. Vincent de Paul next time which is much closer to my house. Just wasn't on my way today. They always greet you with a smile and a story. read more

This goodwill was ok. It was pretty big but their book section was comparatively smaller than other Goodwills I've visited. It was also funky in there. It just had a rank smell but probably from the cliente? Idk. I only found a books to purchase so not really a successful visit. The racks in the back of the store were pretty sloppy too. I am a very loyal customer and spend a lot of money in your stores. And have done so for many years. Last night a store employee refused to accept my returns because the pendulum on a clock was missing. The employee would never have even known the pendulum was missing until I told them so. That was the reason for my return!! She said we don't accept returns that have been tampered with. Excuse my French but WTF. EVERYTHING IN YOUR STORES HAS BEEN "TAMPERED" WITH. It's a used inventory. Now the 7 day return period has expired!!! I'm very upset. Also when I called customer service the person who answered the phone defended the employees poor judgment and she hung up on me! I had an uncomfortable experience at this location. I asked the cashier if I could use the restroom while checking out, and she said someone would unlock it for me. When I got to the restroom, it was already open with a trash can against the door, so I went in. While I was inside, an employee angrily told me the bathroom was closed for cleaning. I apologized and explained that the cashier had told me it was okay and that the door was unlocked. As I was leaving, the same employee also accused me of trying on clothes without paying. I let her know I had already purchased the items -- at which point she changed her tone. I understand policies can change and staff can get busy, but the way I was spoken to felt rude and unnecessary. It made an otherwise normal visit feel really uncomfortable. read more

It's sad how greedy this location has become. The inventory is terrible, it's actually offensively bad. Prices have doubled on basically every product in the store. There is never more than 1 person running the register. This goodwill over charges and under delivers on a level that should be illegal. I came to this Goodwill for first time, cos I was coming back from a business meeting on the Westside, this Sat morning Nov 4, 2023. This Goodwill is large and well-stocked, shelves are piled up and stacked with merchandise. I found a Hoover Windtunnel self-propelled vacccum cleaner, but it had a price tag of $39.49, shocking! It was missing all the extension wands, and all the attachments and every part that came with it, which is not usual, when I find this vac at thrift shops. I buy this vac often at thrift shops, and it is never more than $12.49. The other Vacs were $12.49. Manager took the $39.49 price tag off the vac, which came off so easily it was obviously someone stuck it on there from another piece of merchandise. Manager said she would sell it to me for $12.49. She also told me that there is a 20% coupon if you buy $20+ stuff. So I found more to buy, but it took me over an hour to find things to make up the difference. The cashier got the 20% off coupon to appear on my phone, cos she knew how to get there real quick. You can use the 20% off coupon once a day, but remember you have to buy $20 minimum! This store has many things that do not have prices. You bring them to the front and eventually, someone will come and price it. This day, the 50% off color was pink, but almost nothing was pink. It is mostly orange and blue tags. If it weren't for the many things that do not have prices and the trouble and waiting time it takes to GET prices, I would have given this store 5 stars. read more

I went to a few Goodwills looking for a 90's outfit before I finally found one here! I snagged a red retro blazer, high rise shorts and a cute white t-shirt all for $15. I could've waited til Saturday (50% off) but I was too excited! Not pictured is a gold and black blazer I also got for $5, that I actually wear to business meetings all the time (score!) I also was able to get some gold frames for $2.99. All in all, great finds at this Goodwill. read more

I stopped by this store last Sunday night to check and see if they carried vintage scrapbooking items and lo & behold, found 4 very thick Creating Keepsakes publications (3 of 'em in binders with freebies) that I had wanted then (from QVC channel) but didn't purchase due to the high prices. So, I got 'em all here for $4 each in excellent shape. Happy dancin'. I am not a thrift-store shopper and was inspired to stop by due to the Creativation (arts/crafts/hobbies) event held during that week/end in downtown Phoenix to look around... I am actually writing this review because of the bored eccentric boy/girl (don't know which?) cashier at checkout. S/he had on a black shirt and wore a very short bob with a gold necklace and rings on fingers and moved about in a slow female manner. I inquired him/her about the 50% Sunday special(?) and when s/he said something like pink label only, which I didn't know specifically what's meant about the colors because all I saw was the price on each book and didn't know to pay attention to the colored stripe above the price- I thought it was just a fancy sticker price. After s/he slowly pointed on the book's label showing that since it's a yellow stripe, it didn't qualify for a discount. (At least, it was cheap enough for a very thick book in like-new condition that's considered a collectible.) Books with pink are small or thin or simple. This was my 1st / last visit so how the heck was I suppose to have known (it stated nothing like this on the website anyway)?? When I politely said, "oh" (as in oh, I see), the cashier mouthed in a gay-ish 'oh' and looked away as if s/he's turned-off telling customers that. I did nothing to provoke such ick reactive behavior. Post this information in the store then! Duh! Lazy! Find a different job then, dude/dudette! You make fun of a hearing-impaired customer, I in turn make fun of your 'mannerisms'- and write all about this here. You can bet I will let your boss know about this. I would've given 4 stars but am knocking off one because the boss didn't give this 'cashier' a temperament test before hiring... The better part is when I spotted Ms. Linda Williams, the iconic anchorwoman from Channel 10 news, was at checkout trying to get the card machine to read her card, and in the process, I said "hi!" to her as if she were an old friend and ID'd myself as her FB Friend and Liked her Thanksgiving posts, and she reacted like, "oh, yeah, I remember!" And, the cashier smiled at us both as we both checked out and politely accompanied me as I asked for an extra bag for my heavy books... Big thrift is going a bit more upscale in new location diagonally SE across Camelback from old location, in or adjacent to old Fry's grocery, adjacent to Blast Fitness. The floors are polished concrete, the walls freshly painted a bright green, signage attractive and modern, and the restrooms (at least the men's room) cleaner and more modern than that of many fine dining establishments. The place is big, high-ceiling-ed airy, bright, and though there's still just a bit of that thrift store musk of vast quantities of donated clothing, the exposed shiny ventilation overhead I think clearly pushes the décor into the category of "industrial chic". Thankfully, at least so far, prices do not appear to have been jacked to match the fancier digs. They've only been open since 8/16/13 at this location and were two weeks later a bit light in electronics and computer gear for the scavenging geek, and I didn't see any washers, dryers or refrigerators, but there's still room for more - or maybe I just missed them amid the vast array of other stuff. Despite the wide open spaces, clothing racks are still placed closely enough together that it's difficult to pass someone in many of the aisles. Note there are at least 4 dressing rooms, all shiny clean and new, would but that they could stay that way for long! All in all it's a nicer location for thrift-mining and exploration and the parking lot is much easier to get in and out of than the former location. If you exit the lot to the west side, you even have a traffic light to get you on to or across Camelback at (I think) 17th Ave. If I had a little more energy and enthusiasm today, I might be "a fan", the 4-star rating, but for the moment it's 3 stars - and a positive A-OK from me. read more

I just reviewed another Goodwill location (off 7th Ave and Indian School). Again, I won't go into much depth here as my prime concern with second hand shopping is selection. The thrill is in the chase and never quite knowing what you'll end up with. I personally don't care much about the cleanliness or customer service here, as neither really get in my way. I will say that the staff I have engaged with here have been friendly and helpful. This store has what I want and that's selection. More than any other I've visited in the valley (probably 5 or 6 other stores). While I may not always leave with what I hoped for, I'm generally pleased with the amount of options I have. They have a great children's clothing selection and a good stock of books and men's clothing. While I find Saver's (on Bethany Home and 19th Ave) to be a better option when looking for kitchen electronics, household goods are pretty plentiful here -- I've even found glasses for the set that we already own. This is where we come back to, especially on 50% off Saturdays! read more

The best donation drop off location I've ever been to. I pull up to the double sliding doors, open my trunk, a courteous receiver comes to my car, unloads my unwanteds and gives me my tax receipt. It is that easy! Furthermore, I cannot believe I'm still purging and donating crapola almost four years after my big break-up. Will my closets and nooks and crannies ever stop regurgitating clutter I never knew I had and most certainly have no need for!! This Shiz is 'nanas! P.S I refuse to shop at this Goodwill because I'm just the type of psycho that donates bins of junk only to repurchase said junk during a future wild hair goodwill-hunting shopping spree. This has the potential to be one of the great Goodwills. It is large. It is well-lit. It is jam-packed with stuff. While there are a lot of Target brands on the racks, there's also an encouraging scattering of Old Navy, J Crew, Calvin Klein, and other name brands. The household section is ripe for fantasies about decoupaging one's first apartment. Time your visit carefully. Noon on Saturday is a Hobbesian scrimmage for dressing rooms. Wear opaque tights and leotard so you can try on clothes in the aisle, and keep a firm grip on your original clothes, as the aisles are tight. My next trip will be at dawn or something. To soothe your shattered nerves, the water store in the same plaza has Thrifty ice cream at just over $1 for a single scoop. read more

Gone are the days of biking to my old, beloved ghetto Fry's. After setting vacant for a few years, new "life" has sprung up in its place. While my barber, in the same plaza, thinks this is bringing in trash, I think it's okay. For now. As John mentioned, this is a much nicer space than the former location. Parking is ample, the dressing rooms better suited to trying on one's recent finds, and it lacks that God awful stink of cinnamon. Picture this: I'm going to be Sofia from the Golden Girls for Halloween and was able to find a dress, shoes, purse and pearl necklace for under $15! Dorothy better not be thinking of sending me off to Shady Pines for losing my thrift skills. read more

By far the worst Goodwill customer experience I have ever had. Employees were rude and the manager was worse. My SIL and I were getting her a TV and some other necessities for her new apartment. As she finally picked out a Tv, (A very heavy TV mind you) I asked an employee for help and he just walked away. Although they had a huge selection of various items, which was awesome! We got everything we needed for her apartment at a decent price. Everything was so organized and we had no problem finding her other things! Thus, I will NOT be returning to this location in regards to horrible customer service and unhappy employees. I want to enjoy shopping, not dread it. read more

For the most part this goodwill is pretty stand up place and most of the employees are good. Today though I went to buy a pillow one of the new ones and the price on all the bamboo pillows say 8.99. Well when I got up there it ended up being 9.99. The manager refused to change the price even though 10 other pillows over there where the same price. I bought the pillow because I really wanted it however if it is priced a certain price they should honor that. Especially since 10 other pillows where the same price. read more

my visit Saturday December 26th at 17th Ave and Camelback Goodwill was extremely disappointing. I had two large purchase item that wasn't given to the cashier during checkout, soon as I realized I came to goodwill. I called them and arrives 2 minutes before closing.the doors got lockedsh as I was walking up. I was told I could not pay for the items and pick them up tomorrow. There is an opportunity here to meet needs of both customer and employee. Goodwill is terrific. I clean out my closets, drawers and household items and rather than the hassle of a yard sale I can just run it down to Goodwill. No need to get out of the car either! You pull up behind the store and wait until a worker comes out, takes all the donations you have and give a receipt for taxes right there. Easy peasey and you know that it is going to a good cause. They hire so many people who need training, sell low cost clothing to people who might not be able to afford it otherwise. They do amazing work and I get to write off the value on my taxes and get the money back without the headache of a yard sale. It makes you feel all the feels to donate as well.
