One of my biggest concerns was how situations with residents were handled. I had an experience with a resident and when I went to my manager about it, I was told it was my fault. I thought that was very unprofessional--especially since if I had actually done something wrong, I would've been written up or gotten in trouble. Another major issue was the cleanliness upstairs where Thelma's Place is. Me and a coworker discovered how unsanitary it was. We even found mold growing inside the kids' water bottles, which the kids were actively drinking from. When I asked my coworker if we should say something, she told me she already had--and that management didn't care. To make things worse, I was told one of the manager's daughters is the boss of Thelma's Place, so nothing gets addressed. I had multiple pictures of the mold in those cups. Please, please, PLEASE check your children's water bottles and belongings if they go here. Staff was only scheduled to clean upstairs once a week, meaning water sat in the cups for days at a time. Parents deserve to know what's really going on. They treated their staff terribly too, they had fired a kid and went around telling everyone he was "worthless"..

As a caregiving assistant to one of the participants in Thelma's Place Day Respite Center, I have…read morewitnessed the most supportive and integrative approach by staff to help seniors (with and without disabilities) engage in the community, as well as engage with children in the intergenerational program. Seeing how the seniors interact with the children of the new intergenerational child care program has been humbling to witness. Thelma's Place participants engage in activities that stimulate memory and physical movement, as well as community integration that involves field trips to places like the high desert museum, the library, breweries, farms, and more. I would recommend both seniors and children to participate in Thelma's Place Day Respite Center and Whoopsy Daisy Child Care because there are so many opportunities for the young and the old to build understanding and meaningful relationships that encourage positive development for all participants.

Bingo! Yup . . . they have BINGO on Wednesdays (6:00 pm), Fridays (6:00 pm) and Sundays (12:30…read morepm). It is open to the public . . . just go upstairs when you pass through the doors. Took my mom there to introduce her to bingo, not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. When we walked through the door, we spied a large hall with lots of large tables and monitors, with a bunch of professional-looking senior women seated at the tables. They all had their tables marked off with bingo bags and cards, colored pens and markers, and good luck charms. Golly, were we intimidated! It was as if we had entered the World Series of Bingo. We wandered aimlessly in, wide-eyed, and were immediately greeted by several of the folks in the room. They quickly taught us how to buy game boards and how to play the different games. Our heads were spinning . . . there were so many choices of games to play! However, when the games began our minds were put at ease and we transitioned comfortably into the bingo world. Now we are hooked. We have now played here three times, and each time several people helped us with our questions. We genuinely had a lot of fun. Although it looks intimidating at first glance, everyone is there to make sure you have a good time. A few tips that helped us: Get there early and ask lots of questions. Understand the games and only play the ones you are comfortable with. Eat beforehand, as they only have a little snack bar with sodas, candy, nachos, popcorn, cookies, etc. Have fun!!!

In my time with the Red Cross I was blessed to get to know COVO a bit and had a deep appreciation for the care they put into the community and our veterans. Serving those who have served is something that I feel is of the utmost importance and something everyone should take part in. COVO offers outreach where they help supply food and clothing to veterans in need as well as housing services to provide shelter where they can. You can donate both food and clothing to COVO as well as fiscal donations, I encourage you to do one or the other. Your resources will not be wasted here as they are as fiscally responsible an outfit as I have seen. You can also volunteer and I encourage you to do so. Give back to the ones who gave, our veterans deserve that.

I am an ERDC childcare provider and I had to take an orientation class. I was directed to Monica to get signed up. I had been trying to reach her for 3 weeks now and still haven't heard back from her. I reached out to someone else at neighbor impact who forwarded my email to her and told me she got a new laptop and the emails weren't transferred. I emailed several times after that and still haven't heard anything. Her mailbox is full so I couldn't leave a voicemail either. She later fixed that, so I was able to leave a voicemail but never received a returned phone call. I reached out to the direct pay unit, who told me to just keep calling. I ended up just signing up for a class in a different county because I'd rather not waste my time every day calling and emailing. It's very inconsiderate how I've been treated by her. Everyone else at neighbor impact is always so nice and easy to get a hold of. But this experience has really bothered me and stressed me out because I only have a certain amount of time to take the class.
