This is the store whose sign you always see just a minute too late when you're headed south on I-5, so we usually end up going to this store when we're headed back to Seattle at the end of a weekend trip. So maybe I'm underwhelmed by it because I only go there when I'm grumpy, bloated on junk food, and ready to be home? The South Tacoma store is charmingly located next to a Hustler store, and it seems pretty large when you walk in. But each individual department is fairly small and some are hardly even represented (on this last visit, office supplies consisted of a single endcap, and I didn't even see beauty products anywhere). The book section and kids' section are also pretty limited. On the plus side, the store is clean and seems well-maintained. We were there for the Memorial Day sale and other than the usual sale chaos that you'd expect, it was well organized and things were displayed or hung neatly. The prices are reasonable, like all Goodwills, and they have the colored tag discounts and holiday sales. If you're heading back to Seattle and want to hit one last thrift store on the way, this isn't a bad one, but probably not worth turning around and going out of your way for.

Definitely the horrible experience I ever had, I believe that Goodwill is a great company just because their philosophy about create jobs but today I went to this store to purchase a microwave, I already knew that the microwave dish was missing but I decide to buy it any way, it was a red sticker with any discount or something like that. I get home and tried to tested and guess what didn't work, the receipt? I just throw it away I had no intention to return it but I went back to the store and spoke with the manager she was ok to accept the exchange without the receipt because she inspect the microwave when I bought it couple hours ago and she said she remember me so I went to see if there was another to get the exchange but she came to me and said I cant accept it because I remember it was a yellow sticker and I also remember that there was a plate inside, really? what a bat memry, I felt very bad and angry when she said that, she suggested that I change the stiker and I also steal the microwave dish. I told her to check the security system and to look into the system and I wanted her to apologize. I no longer cared microwave, just wanted to be treated with dignity. but she said she was the manager for five years and was not interested in my arguments. at the end I'm sure she found the information on the computer but did not have the moral courage to accept it. I asked her for her bussiness card but she doesn't care. I Let her the non working microwave with a red sticker on it and without dish and I left the store.

I think it's dumb they don't have a public bathroom for customers to use while they are out shopping. Do better!

I found brands such as Madewell, J. Crew, American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie each tagged at around $8.99 (minus 50%!). I paid $20 for 3 hats (Rainiers and Mariners), jeans and a skirt for my daughter plus, the best deal, Paige jeans which came out to be $4! Pros: Clothing was organized into type and color which makes it easy to sort through. Cons: Location is kind of sketch. Items sold as is so it isn't always clean. Go on a Thursday if you love the value and the hunt! Bonus- If you bring your receipt on Sunday it's 75% off your purchase.

I did get a button down shirt here of a tropical design that I have taken a serious hankering to. I wear it once a week. But usually my timing and my pickiness usually are the dominating factors in the situation and I don't usually wind up purchasing anything at all. So definitely check back frequently is my guess if you are this type of shopper like me to eventually get the timing right at some point. Steve on the other hand isn't picky and he often makes purchases here. So I guess it depends what you are looking for. Other shoppers often make a real haul here when it comes to check out time and the prices aren't bad at all. There is a decent sized clothing section for men and women as well as books, DVD's and more. If my libraries weren't so vast at home I'm sure I'd pick up a few from time to time. But again. Picky.

There were a lot of people there who were clearly regulars. Shopping at the bins is always going to be a competitive environment, everyone's looking for the best stuff in a limited space. It can easily get a little combative in other locations, I've seen pushing, grabbing, and even fighting at other outlets and to some extent I expect it. But that was just not the vibe here, it was relatively chill. The staff here had very clear procedures to make it as fair as possible which they kindly but firmly enforced for everyone. From what I witnessed, all the other patrons respected the rules and kept calm and considerate of each other even in such a small space where everyone's digging around in the same area. And of course you can't beat the value, it takes some effort but I got so much great stuff for way less than I expected to spend. They have just about everything you could ever want, clothes, books, toys, household items. I will be back for sure.

Definitely give everything a thorough look over before you buy. Especially with clothing there is usually a reason why it ended up there. BRING GLOVES!

But, otherwise, I would recommend Ross, Marshalls, tj max, or Burlington. They're all discounted shops that are comparable to the goodwill prices, but they're new. Eg. Ross had a painting for similar size around 25$. This painting is $20. You can find unique items here though.

I don't know how long they may be going through the clothes and formulating the outfits in their mind but some pull it off really well. For me more often than not it doesn't go that way. More specifically with this particular store they always accept the clothes I give for donation. It's almost always clothes I can't fit into and unlikely I ever will again. As a customer the first time here was frustrating. Returns aren't likely to happen but Steve bought a pair of shoes here and both shoes were for the left foot. The folks acknowledged the situation but wouldn't give a refund. So watch out for stuff like that. After a long absence as a shopper here after that we came here and bought some pieces of luggage for some upcoming longer trips we will be doing in the next year or two. Nothing seems amiss with the luggage so I think that transaction and the items will meet their purpose. However if a bad turn comes of an unusual sort with the luggage we bought here that may be relevant to Goodwill I'll post an update but it's unlikely.
