I was here today, and found a halogen floor lamp I wanted, but it was priced $24.95, which is way too high. When I pointed this out to employee, he said it was priced wrong, and he went to change it All this took about 45 min, cos the girls at the cashiers didn't know how to handle it, cos the yellow tag had to be printed in red, but yellow was the 50% off price for the week. They didn't have any yellow tags, so how do they tell the cash register this. I did end up getting the floor lamp for $7.25 (half of $14.50, the floor lamp's revised price), but other lamps had no price at all. It takes about 30 min for someone to get you a price, when there is none, cos this happened to me several times in the past. I still don't know if this halogen lamp works, because it is missing the light bulb. Halogen floor lamps are from the 1980's and are no longer sold, because they started too many house fires. This one is also missing the light bulb fire guard (keeps curtains from touching the bulb), and I have to make one. But the lamp points to the ceiling and is to bright (500 watts) and intense (and HOT), that one light bulb bounces off the ceiling and lights the entire room with diffused light. So I really like them! This store has too many items that don't have prices. Also items that are priced pretty high such as electrical tools, but their rechargeable batteries are always missing, or vacuum cleaner with the brush roller totally missing.. Of course, as with most thrift shops, so many things are priced more than new retail. Sundays are senior and military 25% discount, but today I got 50% discount,, due to yellow tag this week, so only one discount. I miss the days when all the Goodwills in AZ had 50% off everything in the store every other Saturday. That stopped during Covid and never brought back. To this day, at age 72, I never made more than $21,313 in any year I worked, in my life! I averaged less than $10,000. So I am grateful for Goodwill. I even bought many things to decorate an AirBnB rental, at various Goodwills, and other thrift shops. I can't pass one without going in to see what is a good deal that day. I just purchased a $45 (on Amazon) super light camping table that folds up, and legs retract, to the size of a school 3 ring binder. for $9 with my senior discount, that I found in the front of a Goodwill, by the window. I am so delighted with it, and love doing "show and tell" at each campsite, that I got it for $9. read more

I just dropped off a bunch of donations at this location, and as I was unloading some chairs from my car, another family who was dropping off donations as well asked if they could have them. I said of course, and happily gave them to them. 30 seconds prior to this interaction I had put a brand new bedspread in one of the bins as well. I grabbed it, and pointed out to them and said offered it to them as well. Two seconds later, a goodwill worker comes up to me and explains how this is only adding to more theft problems and that I'm on private property and if other families see me doing this it creates a problem blah blah blah. Now, I entirely understand this policy and definitely will not do this moving forward, this is not why i am writing this. It's the way he was speaking to me that left me feeling incredibly belittled and disrespected. He was "mansplaining" this policy to me and was entirely talking down to me in a very disrespectful way. All in all, 30 seconds prior the bed spread was mine and i can give it to whoever i want. That interaction should not have resulted to me being talked down to and i definitely shouldn't have been spoken go that way, especially after Making donations. It's unfortunate that this interaction alone has altered my options for who I will donate to in the future, because I definitely will not be talked to like I'm incompetent by this man again. read more

Very clean and well organized clothing by size and by color. I was shopping for women's clothing and found nothing interesting, a lot of Walmart brand, target brand, JCPenney brands. As in all goodwill stores, they were plenty of children's clothing, children's toys, men's clothing, housewares, sheets and books. read more

My 999th review! This Goodwill had a friendly feel as soon as I walked in. The stuff was in good condition, maybe priced a little higher than I'd like, but I'd still come back. Today, Friday, orange tags were half off. Naturally everything I liked had purple tags or other colors. I still found about $13 worth of stuff to buy for grandkids, crafts, etc. Worth the unscheduled stop. When I walked into this Goodwill, I wanted to cry. Tears of joy that is. You see, I used to live in AZ and would always frequent the "old" Goodwill north of this one on Scottsdale Road. So when visiting this past week, I asked my friend if we could go. She gave me the bad news that the old one had turned into a furniture only Goodwill but there was a new one. I frowned as sometimes, I am not good with change. But then we pulled up to this one and I could have sworn at one time Ty Pennington was there for Extreme Thrift Store Make Over Edition with people in the background screaming "MOVE THAT BUS!!!!" Why? Because this Goodwill is frickin pimped out! I was in sensory overload when I walked in thanks to the row upon rows of clothings, brick brack, books and more. Clothes were very organized and in order and after a few minutes of pawing around, I finally got a dressing room and everything fit. Can we say success? Yeah, the clothes seemed a little overpriced compared to other thrift stores I've been to around the country. But I guess when I get a compliment on my new-to-me Express top complete with all the rhinestones, I can say I got it in Scottsdale with an air of confidence. read more

This location struggles to offer the best it can for customers. This location deals with rampant theft. 'Customers' come into this charitable thrift store and stuff bags and walk out the door, remove tags or tag switch to make a cheap item even cheaper. Now instead of $1 Thursdays the store is going to $2. This is not just due to inflation, but also from theft. Customers frequently verbally abuse staff who are simply trying do their jobs and are over worked duet to worker shortages. In short, don't steal and don't trash the store and appreciate the people who showed up to work that day. read more

This store was ok. clean and friendly staff. not enough check out clerks. only one was working. I spend $50 plus dollars in this store and was surprised that I could not take my cart to my car. The gentleman did offer to watch the cart but no assistance to my car( had I know this I would not have purchased some of the items.) Another observation, the store had decent prices on their merchandise and lots of holiday items, however they had a dress set. They were on together on the same hanger, but when I got to the counter, I noticed that were priced separately. what a big disappointment. and no offer to make it right. managewas stand there. all in all. this was an ok store but for an out of town shopper and an avid thrifter, I will not be returning. read more

It's nice and clean and organized, which is really all you can ask for at Goodwill. I like to peruse the used books aisles on occasion, especially when they are selling for just a few dollars, so that's pretty cool. What's ALSO cool is when they have cheap AF furniture or electronics. I've also donated clothes here and it's a very fast process.. You basically dump garbage bags full of stuff and they give you the tax deductible slip. No fuss, and takes a few minutes at most. If you don't donate your used clothes every year, I highly recommend it. It feels great to get rid of things you know you'll never wear. Plus, Goodwill takes accessories, housewares, books... basically anything that's piling up and taking up space. (And is in relatively good condition.) Yay for Goodwill! Everything a thrift store should be. Cheap, vast selection, hidden treasures and one of a kind gems mixed in with garbage. If you're in the mood to hunt - there are great bargains to be had. Extra kudos for the book section - love it! This location is safe, clean, well managed and abundantly stocked. Employes are friendly and helpful. Balloons color indicate the color of the tags that are marked down even lower for that given day. Good stuff. read more

Had a great experience. Large store, clean, well lit and well organized given the daunting task of organizing a constantly varied inventory. Quite a few brand new items like mattresses in boxes and linens sets in bags in addition to the standard used items. Lots of "goodie bags" in the housewares section with a selection of kitchen utensils, etc. Ended up getting a super comfy loveseat in decent condition, two really nice dining chairs and a small table for under $75, plus some odds and ends. Staff were helpful with getting the furniture purchased and loaded. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill. They always have SOMETHING that is just reasonably priced enough that I will buy it. Sign up for Goodwill emails and get a 20% off coupon, come in every other Saturday and get 50% (almost) everything. I like to go to Goodwill right after the college semester ends because all of the students who are moving are donating the items with which they cannot move. The dressing room attendants here have always been very accommodating when I occasionally ask for help zipping something up. The struggle of getting dressed alone as a woman is real. This location has a great little parking lot with a few trees and shaded areas. I just wish that if items did not sell that Goodwill did not destroy them. For instance, if plates do not sell then Goodwill will smash them before throwing them away... I'm sure a food bank would be happy to take those, or maybe UMOM? read more

-This store is located on the West side of the street, sort of behind the Burger King...not to be confused with the "Goodwill Furniture" store located further north on Scottsdale Rd. -Clean Goodwill store. Well-lit. Friendly employees. -TONS of clothing and a whole wall with newer fashion jewelry. -It seems like everything that would normally be $1.99 at other Goodwill stores was $2.99 here...knik-knacks, games, plates, etc...$2.99. -Furniture was average priced...some pieces were overpriced compared to other Goodwill stores. -Convenient parking. -I'm a fan of Goodwill Thrift Stores! I've been a fan of Goodwill since childhood. It's where all my "oldies, but goodies" went after I out grew them. It's where I bought that crazy costume, cool cowboy boots and old prom dress. So a little background information I'm from Indiana/Kentucky and I've been to numerous Goodwills throughout those 2 states. This one is exactly DOUBLE the price of the stores out east. All dresses here are $10 and they were always and I mean always $5 where I'm from, even amazing glitterama dresses. I have one such dress that I bought that I could probably easily sell for a few hundred dollars if I fix the small tatter at the bottom. Granted there were never any sales back home just a great value everyday of the week, which I prefer over madhouse shopping on 50% off days which is actually just bringing you to the fair price that most every other Goodwill in America charges (I can't speak for California). Which brings me to the question, Why does the Valley try to scam poor or poorer people so much? I break it down to supply and demand. There are just so many people on a shoestring budget that they are able to bring up the prices the demand is so great for thrifty items. It is a little out of hand though here in the valley at ALL thrift stores. It probably has been this way for a long time so no one really has a comparison of what a thrift store should cost. I will save my money and shop at the plethora of yard sales before I go to these rip off thrift stores. read more

Small Goodwill store that was nicely cleaned and maintained. The book selection is very small compared to other stores as was their purse selection. The employees were very friendly. The shoe and clothing selection just wasn't there which was surprising as I was expecting more from a Scottsdale Goodwill location. The clothing all appeared in good condition, I'm just very picky about what I wear and I'm young so I'm always on the lookout for a particular style. I was happy with their toy selection and was able to pick up a giant Patrick Starr stuffed figure for my sister for 2.99 in good condition and a Boba Fett helmet for a few bucks new. read more

Oh my god. This place is a cluster *bleep*. Let's start with the good: it gives back to the community. Also, things are color-coded. If you know you need pastel purple pants, you could find them with *relative* ease, notwithstanding the cluttered store. Neither of those things make up for the large list of negatives: 1. They have the same price for each style of clothing. All the dresses are $9.99, all the shirts $5.99, etc. Unless it has a name brand, and then, for whatever reason, it's $12.99 (regardless of condition). I understand that they get a lot of donations and this simplifies the pricing process, but you end up with shirts worth .25 cents costing you $9.99. It's frustrating to look through their selections. 2. Disorganized. Even on weekdays, when it's less crowded, stuff is scattered everywhere. You end up rolling over grandma panties in the shoe section and forks from the silverware department stuffed into couch cushions. It's just a mess. 3. Under-staffed. This would solve the cluttered store issues, and would also resolve the god-awful lines, if you end up buying something. You also must embark on a wild goose chase, if you decide to make use of the dressing rooms. 4. C R O W D E D. Even though there are so many negatives, it is somehow crowded every dang day. I don't get it. I have definitely visited for the last time. This place gives me anxiety. Never again! read more

The only reason I am giving it one star is because of an incredibly awful encounter with another shopper. She was yelling at two women in the dress aisle and then left briefly. I was looking at dresses in that aisle when she came back and stopped right in front of me, slammed all the dresses on the rack, and yelled at me to get out of her space. I walked away and she followed me and continued to yell at me to get out of her space. To yell at a complete stranger because one is having a bad day doesn't make for a pleasant shopping experience. read more

Clean store with a good selection of items including clothes and household goods. The color coded sale tags are a plus and they help save a couple bucks. The staff is friendly and when we make donations, they always thank us and give us the form to show that we donated. The drive-up donation area is a big improvement over the places that have you shove your donation into a metal bin. read more

Just outrageous through the roof prices on used donated items they get for free. Just an example: Super Nintendo game worth about $10 ncaa basketball and they had a price tag of $59.99..?? Wtf? I dropped a box of items to donate at 9pm tonight, I realized I may have accidentally dropped my bank card in the box I donated. So I turn around to go back to the store within 20mins to look for it. The lady wouldn't let me back to find the box so I could look, she also says she can't either and suggested I just cancel my card. After 20 years of donating to this place, she can't take 5 mins to walk to the back and bring the box so I could look for my bank card! I'm fuming and so disgusted with this place and their service. i LOVE goodwill...or my goodwill. 2 locations to shop near us...the renovated home goods goodwill on the east side of scottsdale road near oak street, and the new goodwill on the west side of scottsdale road near mckellips. almost all my work clothes are from here....khaki and polos....and they look pretty good. just a good toss in the washing machine and clothes are good to go. they have racks and racks of good clothes...you just have to spend a little time to filter through the items. of course, they have great items/clothes for parties, mud runs, halloween, etc. books, knick knacks, ties, belts, sheets, everything. great place! read more

I scored a 100% cashmere Michael Kors sweater today. With today's 50% off sale, I paid $4.99. Sure it was slightly shrunk and worn (some pilling) but it was pink striped and still durable. Then found more H&M sweaters and Banana Republic merino wool sweaters. I bought the BR one for $3.50. I love a bargain and I didn't have to hunt for it. The better quality racks were separated from the others and I had to convince myself that I didn't need one thing or the other, I persevered and put stuff back, but I love shopping for my toddler's clothing here at the Guadalupe and Rural store for housewares and licensed character and better quality clothing. I always try to make it here every $1 Thursday. I like the selections for the dresses as well as women's tops/blouses. I'm editing my wardrobe and this place is a great way for me to experiment on my style! After Goodwill Industries International hired a high-end marketing firm about ten years ago, they amended their business plan which included hundreds of new locations and significantly higher prices. There are opportunities for discounts ... senior day, 50% off Saturdays, occasional coupons ... but, overall, I liked Goodwill better when it was truly a thrift store. read more
