I went today for their $1 clearance item sale. A few things I would like to note because what you don't know, you don't know. And because it pissed me off. 1st, after shopping and grabbing a few options of items in my size, I wanted to try a couple things on to make sure I fit them and that I liked how they looked on me. Well, I went over to the fitting room to try on my items but the girl told me that you aren't allow to try on clearance items. Like whettttt????? What do you mean? I guess because it's only $1, it doesn't matter how it turns out because you can't bring it back either. They are keeping that money period. 2nd, The line is long and people have a million items because of the sale. Well, they open a cash register for "Next person in line" then when you get to the register, "oh, I can only help customers with regular priced items." Whettttt!?!? So then , we not only lose our place in line and also could not get checked out. This pissed me all the way off. Mainly because I only had 8 items and not 50 like the other folks around me. Like Bruh..... Now, my daughter found some items , 1 clearance item and she couldn't get checked out in the regular priced register . But I digress. I enjoy this platos closet location. Near ASU, has huge selection of good clothing for men and women. Yes, it is a bit disorganized and yes, the staff doesn't pay you the time of day, but... you can get really good finds here, I always leave with a few items. This is more in reference to the selling process. I've been here a couple times and usually don't find much I'm interested in, I've found maybe one dress. I understand needs and trends at all locations are accepting different things. However, I come in at 7 pm pm a Tuesday. I'm turned away by a female worker because "we stopped buying early today". Mind you, there isn't another person in line and they don't close for 2 hrs. I shop at tj maxx, Nordstrom rack, express, online boutiques and vintage luxury brands. You can't even bother to do your job and look at my things? So disappointing. Mind you gas is $5 a gallon right now and this is 30 min from my place. Won't come back again. They took all of my items, 4 crop top sweaters for $20. Instead of cash I chose to buy a sweater and jacket of theirs and they applied the value. You sign up to be in a que as they appraise and decide whether they want to buy your items. Mine took about 30 minutes and I just hung out at Fate Brewing next door and had a beer. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. This was genuinely one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The employees were incredibly rude and completely lacked basic manners. One of them was even training another, which honestly just makes it more concerning. I came in after waiting two hours just to pick up one laundry basket of clothes I brought in and there was zero acknowledgment--no "hi," no "hello," nothing. Just a blunt "ID?" followed by being told what they didn't take and what they did, like I was some kind of inconvenience for even being there. No explanation, no courtesy, nothing. When it came time to check out, I was handed cash with zero communication. I was the one who said "have a good day," and they both just walked away without saying a single word back. I have been coming here for years now! It's my go to place to shop as I'm very conscience of waste- I try to buy secondhand as much as possible. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about Plato's Closet, and frankly, most of them seem to come from unrealistic expectations. This is a resale business, not a donation center or a luxury consignment shop. They buy what's currently trending and in demand and not everything you bring in will be, and that's completely reasonable and fair. Even if you bring in items that are brand new with tags, you're not going to get retail-level payouts because, again, this is a business. They have to resell at a profit. That's the model. It's not personal lol; it's just how it works. Personally, I've always had a great experience here. The staff is polite, the process is fast, and it's incredibly convenient for someone like me who doesn't have the time to list, ship, and wait on platforms like Depop or Poshmark. If you understand the resale process and come in with realistic expectations, Plato's Closet does exactly what it's supposed to and they do it well. read more

Everything I had inside was folded nicely, and they left me a mess and only took a few shirts that were not even brand. I don't understand if most of what they sell is what I had in my suitcase. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. The staff was not friendly, and they have a policy that doesn't allow customers to take purses into the dressing rooms due to theft concerns. If that's the case, they should count the items each person brings in and have someone monitoring the dressing area. Instead, I was asked to hand my purse to someone without a name tag, leaving me unsure if they even worked there. I also thought that since this was a Scottsdale location, they might have nicer items, but they don't. On top of that, it took them an hour and a half to go through the clothes I brought in to sell, and this was during the week, not even on a busy weekend. Only one star because I can't give a minus rating. I walked in with my Coach wallet, which happens to have an cross body strap, and was told I couldn't have it in the store. I showed the girl the inside of it and told her it was a wallet. She said, "sorry, it has a strap. We only allow fanny pack style." Seriously? So I'm supposed to pay for any purchases how.. exactly? So my husband walks in, takes my wallet and goes out. At this point, I don't even want to shop here. To add to it, there's a girl, shopping here, with a freaking little cross body purse. There's about 5 items that I took out of brand new packaging before bringing it today. & little do they know I have a separate room off the house for all my clothing so that way no food / candle / dog /any smells can get onto my clothing because I have ocd. Not to mention everything has been washed in the past two days if it wasn't fresh out of the package. I haven't stopped in here in a few years... I decided to try my luck today. I was greeted promptly. But With 4+ employees that were all constantly on their phones, they quoted me an hour or so wait to get to looking through my clothing. I decided to wait around. While my son found money, rubber bands, sharp objects, and screws on the very dirty floor. After 20 minutes past my estimated wait time, I asked about the status, they said for my one bag, which was next (I had two bags) it would probably still take 20-30 minutes. I decided to come back later to pick up, 5 minutes later, as I'm driving away, I got a text my bag was ready. I was kind of dumb founded, that my two ikea bags were looked at in a fraction of the time quoted. You can't go through the items that fast. They took 3 items off the top. Said they were full of inventory already. But honestly, the overwhelming amount of target brands, SHEIN etc told me they were full of the wrong inventory. :( I did scout out some school sneakers for my son to come back and maybe try on- but the dirty floors, having to hand my purse over to strangers while I try on jeans, and the failure to the details of time and accuracy... I'm not sure that I will actually make it back there. I much more success at Buffalo exchange consistently. read more

When you ask for help, they treat you like a burden. They are only friendly with one another. Also the music is so horrible.
