For the last many years, I have been a very regular and loyal patron of this Weddington Store. I am there almost daily and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars in this one store. I know lots of employees there and have befriended many of the other loyal patrons. Shopping at Goodwill has been one of my retirement hobbies and I have had hours of fun there. I even started a Facebook group entitled, "Goodwill Fun Finds", that has 9,000 members and is growing rapidly. Something happened to me today in the Weddington Store that needs to be exposed. As I often do, I brought my new 3 month old seven pound puppy with me. He was in my arms the entire time I was in the store and was asleep. He has never made one whimper and is loved by store employees and customers. He is well mannered and never meets a stranger. Unfortunately, there is another customer who frequents the store who brings his unruly and misbehaved dog. When his dog sees other dogs, he barks and becomes very disruptive. The previous store manager there, he would politely ask this customer to leave the store, which was entirely appropriate. Customers do not like to be surrounded by barking or upset dogs when they are shopping. Today, when that unruly dog saw my dog, he became unruly as usual. The assistant manager, Carol, approached the man with the misbehaved dog and told him that he needed to leave the store immediately. I was in another part of the store, minding my own business with my sleeping puppy in my arms. Carol came after me with a forked tongue and told me that I also needed to get out of the store. She told me that when one dog barks, all the dogs have to leave. I told her that she sees me every day and knows that my dog never makes a sound. I asked her if it was fair to throw the whole bunch of apples away if there is only one rotten one. She told me that if I didn't leave immediately, she would call the police. I told her that it wasn't my intention to leave and if she made me, she would never see me again in this store. She abruptly rushed to her office to call the police. Her tone, attitude and manner of talking with me was entirely inappropriate and unprofessional and I am quite certain, it is not the what GW would want to represent them in any of their stores. She approached me like I was a piece of trash. This entire conversation was witnessed by an employee, Lisa, who has also known me for years. It was also witnessed by several customers, all of whom were in disbelief that I had been treated in this manner. So, because I didn't want a confrontation by police, I left the store after I told a few of my favorite employees there what had happened and why they would never see me again in this store. I am in my sixties and have never been talked to as I was addressed today. I have seen Carol speak inappropriately to customers for years. She has never been welcoming to me and has never been kind. She is brash, loud, unprofessional, and radiates negative energy. I have heard many customers complain about her. When I posted a google review for this store today, I noticed there were multiple complaints about her. Why do they allow this to continue? I had a very successful high level management career for over thirty years. I have had a lot of experience and professional training in managing people and have a good sense of what is effective and appropriate and what is not. What is going on in that GW Weddington store is far from acceptable. The Ballantyne East Store is cleaner, more organized, and has friendlier and happier employees. The store manager is consistently kind, as is the assistant manager and the team leads. I would recommend this store over the Weddington store for many reasons. As long as Carol works at Weddington, I will never return. They do not deserve my business, or yours. read more

Very efficient operation and organization. They will do all the heavy lifting and move your donations inside to be categorized and processed. Some of the staff are very personable, others, not so much. read more

I was in this Goodwill location Sunday with my family and watched kids destroy the toy aisle. Another child about 6 years old was riding some kind of a scooter around the store a lady stopped an employee and she said oh well. Parents assume Goodwill is a playground for their children but wait till somebody gets hurt and the lawsuit start flying. Goodwill seems to be scared to ask parents to keep their children with them at all times it might offend someone. read more

Very busy today as we're getting close to the beginning of the school season. There's nothing wrong with paying $3 for a tshirt or a pair of jeans that would be $50 at the mall. Clothing is organized into men's, women's and kids. And then by color, which is consistent for Goodwill but a little odd. Lots of furniture, books and movies. There were some great deals on bicycles today including a brand new mountain bike for $25! If I was willing to take my life in my hands and ride a bike, I'd have bought it. I'm going to go on a "thrift store review spree" one of these days, so I'm starting it off here. I stopped in this Goodwill one day when I had dinner plans across the way at Lam's (delicious!). I arrived early and had time to kill so checking out Goodwill was a huge unexpected bonus! This Goodwill was like most, plenty parking, signage and goods! I lucked up on some super cute dresses and tops and only spent about $30 total. They had plenty of inventory to peruse and that I did. From furniture to clothes, to home decor, they definitely had just about everything. I'll most likely stop in here each time I visit Lam's just to make it a thing. I frequent this store and spend a lot of time & money. For the most part the staff is great. This review is only for Carol the manager who is angry everyday. Her negative energy is felt by us customers. She's rude and if she doesn't like her job we shouldn't see it. read more

I have always thought that the goodwill store in weddington was the best store. Lately the store looks horibble. Everything that comes out of the back is just thrown on the shelves. Some things are overpriced. I found a beautiful white casserole dish for 4.99 in one store. The same exact casserole dish was found in weddington for 9.99. I'm sorry the store is in shambles and there is no structure. it looks more like a junk store. I was there Saturday and it was the worst I have seemed it. I just ran out of that mess. read more

This is a nice goodwill with good customer service. The line for drop off is usually 8 cars long and they don't let you leave on their sidewalk even if you have one item and the car in front has 200. They could improve their drop offs but other than that I find something neat whenever I go and the children's clothing is always full of designer brands. read more

This GW is alway clean and well displayed. The clothes are rotated often. They also move clothes around to focus on the season. The clothes are often arranged by color. There is a good collection of shoes and purses. The household items are neatly put on shelves. Easy to see what is there. The dressing rooms are kept clean. The staff is very attentive. I always am able to find some good deals. No if people would just stay off there phones! I really don't want to spend my shopping time listening to you conversation. read more

My first time into this location and as reviewed by other people, clothes racks are sorted by season and color, so that makes it easy if you are looking for something specific....bUT- people were not wearing masks or had them pulled under their chin, also nit maintaining social distance. I specifically went to this Goodwill based on other Yelpers reviews but honestly its just a normal Goodwill. I didn't find anything here and its also kinda small compared to other locations. I probably won't be back just because its far from where I live. read more

I have been thrifting at this goodwill for probably 6 or so years!! This goodwill is honestly the best goodwill I have ever stepped foot inside!! I always find so much clothes, CDs, DVDs and shoes that I want to buy. I do think they need to add more dressing rooms, but I look past that due to their amazing selection. I recently moved to asheville and the goodwills are sooo bad here. Please take advantage of this goodwill if you live in the area! read more

Although a bit smaller than most other Goodwill stores, I do find this location to be a lot better organized and cleaner. The service has also been more engaging and friendly on my visits. Its location is somewhat hidden in the shopping center across from what was once known as the Siskey Y, but that doesn't seem to adversely affect business as midday and evenings can get quite busy. Best Goodwill I visited in Charlotte area and let me explain why... The Matthews Goodwill is in a relatively prosperous part of town (near Providence and McKee Rds) and then donations they receive outmatch what you find at other thrift stores. It's not uncommon to find gently-used men's Gap, Banana Republic, and Brooks Brothers shirts and pants. While other thrift shops have "vintage"-looking clothes (I'm using vintage euphemistically here), this Goodwill has clothes that pass for brand new. Also, the book selection is quite amazing. They sell hardbacks for $1.40 and paperbacks for .99! I've found some pristine books that may have been read once. Even if the store is out the way for you, you'll save major $$$ by purchasing your books here rather than at Borders, B&N, or other new book retailers. The service is typically amiss for Goodwill-the cashiers are indifferent if not downright unprofessional. The furniture is overpriced, so don't waste your time looking for a steal here. I have yet to actually set foot in this location, so I can't speak to inventory or customer service inside, and I'll update my review accordingly when that happens. However, I have been here about three times to drop off donations, and I have had great experiences each time. There's a nice drop-off lane that is covered against the elements. A bell chimes when you pull up, and employees are quick to come out to assist you in unloading your vehicle. They make quick work of it, and they have been sure to ask me if I need a receipt each time. read more

I love going here for cheap shirts and blue jeans. You can write everything off on your taxes and there is a good selection of clothes. I bought a red sports coat that was straight out the seventies for a little New Years bash. The shirts are a lot of fun and pretty random as well. I wish this one had a better selection of sunglasses, but it wasn't a real big deal. The employees here were the only let down, they worked like they were serving community service or something. Decent pick of clothes here.. but my kids say they have the worst toy selection of all the goodwill stores in the area.

I give it two stars only because I have found some great things, but as far as the customer service....hardly exist...The manager acts like she hates her job..(I would too though if I had to watch people buy awesome things).... ;) Aside from the grumpy manager Roxy, the two African-American women cashiers have the best personalities! :) If it was not for the "chance" of finding a treasure, I would not continue to help them meet their sales quota. I find myself shopping there less and less though because of the service. read more

My favorite location in South Charlotte - relatively clean, low prices, nice dressing rooms. Gets busy at lunch and on weekends so the check-out line can be long. Also has a drive-thru donation drop off, which is very convenient. read more

I enjoyed this location because it was extremely organized and clean. I am only giving it 3 stars because there was nothing in the showcases which is where I typically look for some fun finds and there were only three rows of shoes (Out of probably 10 rows) There also wasn't/ isn't a huge section of baby items. read more
