This Goodwill moved locations a few years ago. It used to be next to Menards. The parking lot was reduced as it shares with Chipotle. J did meander in on senior/ first responder/military discount day. I did have a Hometics Refexology mat in my cart. I did open it and it was obviously used. I put back on the shelf. I am a property manager and aways bring great stuff to donate. Today I had two nice small pieces of furniture to donate but was turned away as they don't have the room. You need donations but Goodwill turns them away. I guess they don't need my business. I won't be bringing anything else to this store. read more

Stopped in to make a donation. I was the only one in line and waited about 5 minutes before the door opened so I was able to pull in. Turned off my vehicle because last time I didn't, I got yelled at and didn't want that to happen again (learned my lesson). I said hello to the gentleman and he didn't even say anything to me, just looked at me. I thought that was rude way to treat a customer. Handed him my clothes donation and said thank you. Again, still no response. It would be beneficial if basic customer service skills were used. Make for a better experience for customers. Overall, donation drop off was seamless and quick. I was glad there was no line this Tuesday evening because I know that's definitely not always the case. I'd likely come back to donate as it's close to my home. read more

Sadly today, through the school of hard knocks I find GoodWill has undergone significant changes in store etiquette altering the admirable charitable business environment I once knew. Despite living near the store for 15 years, regularly purchasing and donating, recent experiences have left me questioning its integrity. A couple of years ago through reliable sources I was informed the store and the organization as a whole are thriving financially, with the West St. Paul branch alone grossing over $100,000 in a previous year. However, today's encounter has cast doubt on my overall once positive perception. Having not made a purchase in several years but regularly donating, and some very nice things, my recent $22 acquisition--a sleeping bag--did not meet expectations. The material proved, by using a state of the art compression bag at an outdoor store, that this bag proved to be non-compressible like most sleeping bags. The bag was sadly unsuitable for my intended use. Not being one who can afford to own a car, I was planning a bike camping trip. Attempting to return it, I was informed of a no-refund policy, only offering store credit, and not only that, the credit is valid for a mere two weeks. On top of it all the in-store credit could only be utilized in a single transaction, any remaining value treated as a forced donation! Wow! Despite my inquiry about a universal indicator or interconnected system for tracking in-store credit across the multiple GoodWill locations in the Metro Area, the clerk confirmed the absence of such a system. So with only a sales slip there was no proof at other stores I even had in-store credit the clerk said I'd have at all of their stores! After a long search I found two shirts and a pair of gloves. I looked toward where the fitting rooms once were and nothing, absolutely no fitting rooms! The clerk said they were taken out! The lack of fitting rooms and the discovery once I was home that purchased items had shrunk in size, a not so uncommon condition when purchasing used clothing, further contributed to the deteriorating shopping experience. The now GoodWill corporation's inflexible policies and apparent lack of customer-friendly measures led me to question its commitment to the nonprofit cause. In light of these issues, I've decided to instead patronize alternatives like SAVERS or Salvation Army Thrift Store, reserving visits to GoodWill now a "corporation" as a very last resort. The shift from a community-driven nonprofit to what seems like a profit-focused corporation has prompted this change in preference. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

A decent Goodwill. Unfortunately I didn't find anything at my first visit but it seemed like your generic Goodwill. I went on a Sunday so it was pretty busy (even with the construction on the street). The store seemed packed with items and could have been more clean and organized. read more

My 8yo autistic daughter's bike was stolen this week. When I stopped by this location for their tag sale, I happened to see it sitting for sale in the front of the store! Delighted to have found her beloved bike (but really unwilling to repurchase my own property) I asked to speak to the manager. I showed him the pictures of my daughter on the bike, and of my other children on the bike, going back three years, pointed out the broken chain guard that matched up perfectly, the placement of the pegs, everything, and the manager rudely told me it wasn't his problem - I could either buy the bike or come back with the original receipt or box or serial number to match up. I pointed out that this is a three year old bike and I don't have the paperwork. He was incredibly rude, unnecessarily. When I pointed out that they got the item for free and were flipping it, so giving me my property back was no different than if it had never been donated, he replied "we need to keep the lights on so once it's in our doors, it's our property". read more

So you can't try stuff on, but you can only return stuff for in store credit. And they usually don't have anything good there. And my tag accidentally fell off my item & they refused to return it even though I had the tag. And if they would of let me try it on, I would of never bought it to begin with. It's used, it doesn't matter if the tag is on. They can put it back on. And I donated bags & they didn't even acknowledge it or appreciate it. So much for donating bags when they wouldn't even return my item. read more

This Goodwill is shitty. I don't like driving in the parking lot and fighting all the old folks to get a spot and I hate walking 2 miles from where I park to get in the front door and for what I ask? It is all crap. It seems so depressing inside with the lighting and the layout. Sometimes I look at the price and just shake my head because they want more for it at goodwill than it was on clearance for at the regular store. Save time and drive on by! read more

Goodwills rock. The idea of them. People drop off their junk and you buy it. "Another man's trash is another man's treasure", or whatever. You must be in absolute browse mode if you wish to make an efficient Goodwill stop. Any thrift store (besides Trade Zone in Cambridge) for that matter. Everything is where you'd expect it... until the first time you find EXACTLY what you want scattered astray. Every visit after that is a frantic overview of the store. And HOPE you don't get A.D.D. in the midst of things (or you'll think of all the great things you could have gotten the rest of your day). My average for Goodwill stores is 4, I'm gonna say. This specific location seems to have less of what I want, so she gets a 3. read more

I was there with a nice load of furniture a little bit of everything. Dinning room set dressers hutch and misc all real wood I think he didn't want to work hard that day because he told me the st.paul store would love to have it he was full but yet still taking car loads from people. So I went to a different donation place and they were more than happy to take the nice furniture Won't be going to this location again. read more

First things first: I love goodwill and thrift store shopping!! This one is kinda small, has a really minimal section of furniture, and really doesn't have the best selection. But it is close to me, is not overpriced like some thrift stores have become, and the staff are all really nice. read more

I love Goodwill and this location is especially fun. There are always a lot of interesting people shopping and deals to be found. All the workers are super nice and considerate, too. I come here all the time for the specials they offer and have gotten nearly every Mary Kate and Ashley video on VHS from this store :) Can't go wrong with the West St Paul Goodwill! read more
