They charged me $100.00 for a Wellness Check when I made an appointment and they never informed that I would need to pay for in order to get a Bordetella vaccination. My dog had just been there 4 months prior. My husband took our other dog to Burkeview Animal Hospital the very next day for the same vaccination and they also did a Wellness Check but they did it for free. And our other dog had not been to the vet in over a year. -When I called to dispute my invoice the office manager did not offer to refund the Wellness Check, in fact she seemed put off, defensive and acted like I should have assumed that I would be charged for simply seeing a doctor. She offered me free Wellness Check on my next visit but obviously that is not going to happen. -During my appointment I had inquired as to why they were examining my dog and the doctor (who never introduced himself to me as a doctor) said that it's just something that they do and then went off on a strange tangent about how some people don't think of Vets as real doctors. He said something about being able to do human brain surgery if he had to. I was confused to say the least. -One of their doctors Dr. Greenburg seems like a misogynist to me. Or it's possible that he just doesn't like people in general. Spoke down to me during an appointment and really pushed a special type of dog food that they sell when I didn't ask for it. -Poor communication. Booked in for a vaccination for kennel cough but then somehow that was communicated to the staff that my dog had kennel cough already and that I needed to call ahead and bring my dog through a side door when I arrived. We already knew that. That's why we brought him in. Then she took him out again and we waited even longer. I've cried for two nights, unable to sleep because of the doctor's threats and accusations. My cat friend doesn't understand why, after a simple visit to the vet, I seem more hurt than he is. I took my cat friend for an annual check-up because he had been eating and drinking more and using the litter box more frequently. However, Dr. Nenad Paunovic employed layers of sales tactics. I struggled to escape the financial trap, managing to downgrade the $700 exam plan to $300, but the drastic difference made me unable to trust him entirely. After a long wait, he informed me that my cat friend had unfortunately been diagnosed with diabetes. However, their overpriced charges for insulin and their hostile reaction to my hesitation made it impossible to accept treatment for my cat friend in such a biased and discriminatory environment. I just wanted to find a graceful way to leave, but they twisted my reasons against me, exploiting my mother's language barrier to judge us harshly in that sealed room. He knew I couldn't argue back, neither in medical terms nor in English. Within his comfort zone, he exploited language traps and threatened me with accusations of animal abuse. I don't know what tragic experiences Dr.Nenad Paunovic had in the past that twisted his sense of right and wrong so severely. He said: "I know you won't pay to treat your cat. If you don't pay, I'll report you to the xxxx" "My time is precious" The implication is that if we don't get treatment here, even if we've paid for the exam, we're still abusing my cat. ***On one side, there's a licensed vet and his silent staff; on the other, there's helpless me and my non-English-speaking mother. In their kingdom, whose side would justice stand on? ***What's even more terrifying: How many others like me, with English as a second language and unfamiliar with animal healthcare, have faced his psychological abuse? ***As an animal doctor, he treats minority groups this way--how does he really treat the animals? He carried himself with an air of superiority, provoking and attacking me from his comfort zone. Though he seems appeared polite and professional, he was like a blunt needle that pierced my heart. It was clear he had mastered this technique. I'm not familiar in veterinary medicine, I just wanted to do some research. If my cat truly has diabetes, he needs correct and effective long-term treatment and a trustworthy doctor. Yet this vet didn't stop tormenting me after I left his clinic. He deliberately slandered me in the exam report, making it impossible for me to seek help from another hospital with a $340 report that brings only shame. Aren't they mentally abusing both the cat and me, the cat's friend? The vet, under the guise of "caring for cat," wrote defamatory comments about me in the report notes, causing other hospitals to misunderstand me and trapping me in an endless cycle of clearing my name. The wasted time is also a form of harm to my cat friend. I don't understand why being rational and cautious is considered a crime. They told me they did, but Dr. Ong was in surgery and could see me at a certain time. If she was not able to get out out of surgery I could like my rabbit and she'd see him. When I made the long trek to this hospital they put me in with some absolutely random vet named Dr. Yip, who just had some business cards with his name hand written on them...and introduced himself to me 3 times. This inexperienced vet spoke down to me, had no idea about the most basic things to do with rabbits, and made me feel like I was incompetent (look in the mirror, Dr. Yip!) I complained to the main desk and they lied to me and said all along I had an appointment with this random person who I'd never heard of before. I have no confidence at all that this hospital knows how to deal with patients and rabbits, despite Dr. Ong supposedly being experienced with them. There is no way I would have wasted my time and SO MUCH MONEY (they seriously overcharge) to take my rabbit who was having an emergency to such a far place to be seen by someone who is so completely clueless. My dog, Ginger, was 10 years old before his passing. He was the sweetest miniature poodle you could…read moreever know. He did not deserve to have his health in the hands of these deceitful, useless, vets (Dr Wong and Dr Biernacki) who should have their licenses taken away immediately. A week before Ginger's passing, we made a decision that we should have made years ago: to bring him to a better hospital. There they found a significant mass stretching from his diaphragm to his bladder, and he had an estimate of a few days to a week left. About a month before that, my parents brought Ginger to North Road for diarrhea, vomiting, and lack of appetite. There the only thing they did was give him Veraflox, an antibiotic for bacterial infection. When I told another vet about this she said she didn't know why this was prescribed to him. No recommendation for imaging was made at the time, which I now realize was insanely negligent as they KNEW he had cancer. I called Dr Biernacki about this but I had a lot of trouble understanding what he was saying. But the incompetence started even before that, back in May when my mom herself made an appointment with Dr Wong because she was concerned about his Cancer, Dr Wong flat out dismissed it. When I called him a week ago for an explanation he ACTUALLY had the audacity to lie about it, saying he "recommended CT scans" and that there was a "language barrier" issue with my Mom. How completely abhorrent could you be to say something so highly insulting? Saying her english got in the way of making a decision that would prolong her dogs life? Do you have ANY idea what Ginger means to me and my family? No effort to follow up was ever made. When I called Dr Wong for closure, whom I waited hours for to call me, referred to Ginger as "she" again after 1 MINUTE of correcting him. These people clearly put no value in their job, let alone care about your pets. To conclude this review, if you love your dogs in the slightest, get away from this place ASAP.
