The atmosphere is definitely a vibe--chill and social. Music starts up later in the evening (around 9 PM, I believe), which helps transition the mood as night falls. We visited fairly early and enjoyed the shift when the music began. However, one interaction notably dampened the experience. A brief, joking conversation with a bouncer took an unexpectedly dark turn. When I lightheartedly asked if anyone had ever tripped on the spiral staircase, he replied, "Only if I throw them off." Joking or not, for someone responsible for patron safety, this felt in poor taste and sounds like he wants to look or sound intimidating. It's a remark that unfortunately sticks with you. And it was of bad taste. Overall, Z Roof Deck has much to offer in terms of views and ambiance, but attention to staff training and customer interaction would elevate it from a good spot to a great one. 2 star from poor choice of words from the security at the roof deck. You want to be funny? Tell a better wholesome joke.

Probably one of my favorite bars in the whole of Manila! When I want to have drinks after work or a…read morenightcap after a late dinner, I will most probably end up at The Bar. Interiors are beautiful and cozy. The leather chairs, central bar, and decor take you to another world where you can enjoy your classic cocktail, scotch, or wine in utter opulence. The staff are always efficient and helpful when serving and suggesting drinks if you are feeling a little adventurous. Try the Negroni 1919 or the Espresso Martini. Good selection of wines too and a decent repertoire of Single Malts (for a price!). Bar chow is available too if you feel like you need more than the refillable snacks they serve you. It's also the perfect place to have an intimate conversation or a casual meeting. Cigar smokers and smokers alike will enjoy the fact that you can smoke here (sorry non-smokers!). Price points are expensive compared to your average bars or speakeasies but you're at The Peninsula after all. The overall feel is nostalgic, classic, and definitely for those who enjoy high quality cocktails and drinks in a place that makes you feel like you're transported to a bar in Cuba with different world music playing in the background.

I've been to actual speakeasies in the US that survived Prohibition era and they don't quite have the same feel--for starters, the building is new, there are no secret doors or hidden basements, there isn't a password or secret code to get in or antique version of the menu, no history about how the place survived when it was illegal to sell and distribute alcohol. Despite not having the culture and history behind it, it is still a very good experience and would highly recommend for the drinks and ambiance.

It is an underground industrial warehouse type of club that focuses mainly on underground music. It is where you can usually find independent, up and coming local and international artists playing mostly hip hop, bass and trap music. Most of the time, it's not really for the EDM type. This place also has different areas inside, which offers different ambiances and music scenes too. On the second floor, they have the Mao Den, a room which has its own DJ and bar. Black Market is also the place where I always celebrate "birthday salubongs" and halloween with friends, which were always fun! This is one of the things that I miss back home. Highly recommended!

Just ask the waiters. What I also enjoyed in this place is their food. It's mostly pica-picas (did you read that in Pikachu's voice because I did) but they also offer meal sets. I'm in love with their calamares and fries. What added oomf to their food is their dips. It's so flavorful and it complements the crunchy texture so well. The place has two sides. One is for the bar with the loud thumpin' music and the other side is for fine dining.

We didn't get any food but they have a list of small plates and also can get proper plates (steak frites, etc.) from nearby Mamou until 9pm or a bit later. Just FYI interior isn't huge, about 16 barstool seats (12 at bar, 4? at outward facing thin high table), but more outdoor space. This is an ideal place to go to if you are into or are getting into Japanese whiskey. They have a lot of rare bottles and the usual suspects such as Yamazakis, Hibikis and Nikkas. They offer flights wherein they serve you three different types of whiskeys and a nice refreshing highball at the end. They also carry Japanese liqueurs with exotic flavors such as sakura (cherry blossom) and green tea.

It was my first time in this bar but I already knew about it for quite some time; it's Back to the Future signage along Tomas Morato, corner E. Rodriguez is simply hard to miss. I was curious at first to see what it's like inside Back to the 90's, only to find out that it's actually no different from most bars ideal for gatherings of independent bands and the underground music scene. The only difference with Back to the 90's is practically, its 90's theme. You will definitely see a lot of Throwback posts on their walls because of the framed movie and music posters from the 90's era. Haha! What a virtual way to describe it, but I would rather stick to such description than say nostalgic because I simply did not get the feel. I was born 1991, so I really wasn't able to get a glimpse of how bars then were like. Although, when I asked some of my older friends there, they said that 'yes, this is actually a recreation of a 90's bar.' What I like about it, is it's cozy but rock and roll ambiance that went well with its small, vertical space; comfortable couches are leaned against graffiti walls showcased by dimmed pin lights. They also have a very cute menu placed in an old school CD case where they offer alcoholic beverages and bar dishes like Nacho's, Fries, Buffalo Wings, etc. Although, I wasn't able to have a taste of any because I was a little broke last night (P200.00 per order), and their selections were not really that inviting, the waiter said that their best seller is the Tapsilog. Overall, it was an OK bar for me. I would go here if good bands will be playing but probably not for a usual late night chill or beer nights.

Whatever it is, it's great and cheap and nice to have after a long day of doing nothing. The restaurant itself has a laid-back, cool vibe with dim lighting and a low-key, neutral interior design. There are only ever so few people at the tables, too, which I find great, personally. Though every time I've been there I've experienced their full 80s and 90s playlists--complete with music videos playing on the overhead TV screens. These are not chicken, but the crab's "wings," which registers much better in my book. You just cannot lose with that combination. These are perfectly unshelled crab pincers (no peeling required!) served with a simple, spicy buffalo sauce. YUM. And the word really needs to go around about their pizzas. Instead of a regular thin crust pizza, they use a delicate puff pastry as base. And with flavors like Jamon Serrano and Arugula, Bacon and Truffle Mushroom Cream? That go for less than P400? Not even the best and most popular panizzas of our time can cut it for me now.

They have the international brands, but they don't have a local section (San Miguel) which is a downside for me because we have to support local brands. Upon choosing which brand and size (330 or 500 mL), they get to serve it in the brand's known glass. I got Stella which was served in their usual chalice. Their service is great and security too (they have bouncers that approach you if you have any orders lol). Several bars and restaurants usually don't have this feature but additional points for having a restroom per floor! It means not lining up as long as one usually does. The ambience is relaxing and my friends and I can still talk to each other except when it's closer to midnight. More club music is played and lights are dimmed. o: On a comical side, the place has a TV on the ground floor that aired "Two Greedy Italians" on repeat and we just kept watching and laughed about it. I hope to visit Black Olive soon and explore the rest of Capitol Commons. :)

Other than our table, the only guests I noticed were a very old white man and his very young Asian escort, who I do hope was being paid handsomely for her time. Service was polite and attentive, and we enjoyed a relaxing round to mark the end of our trip. My friend Nick L. was kind enough to buy. We got snack buckets of spiced popcorn when we sat down, then ordered ourselves some cocktails from the book-sized leather-bound menu. I had the Last Runner, a complicated milk punch with black and white rum, jasmine green tea, pineapple juice, passionfruit, milk, and calamansi juice. It was quite boozy and delicious, garnished with a charred slice of pineapple. I also admired my friend Bong C.'s Cowboy Old Fashioned, with Raging Bull bourbon, sherry wine, and vanilla. It came in a giant glass bottle filled with smoke, and he poured it himself into the accompanying old fashioned glass. We hung out for an hour then went to sleep, and I left for the airport the next morning. I had a great time in Manila thanks to my travel mates, and I was glad for this one last drink at Raging Bull.

Steak dishes look like they came from Texas Roadhouse. Entrées could easily be served at TGI Fridays. The pasta dishes and pizzas look like they came from Italianis. The free bread with olive oil & balsamic is taken from Italianis too. When Village Tavern originally opened they had a unique and creative menu. They had an interesting bone marrow appetizer. All the unique dishes are gone now. The food is not bad. It's just... Uninspired. It feels like Bistro just canabilized the menus of their other concepts and came up with a very safe menu. They can do better.
