    Black Pizza
    Cezar R.

After reading all the reviews and hype about this restaurant, I came in with extremely high expectations. I was always critical of restaurants with rave reviews because it's easy to be influenced by other's recommendations rather than appreciate the food that is right in front of you. I guess I'll go straight to the point and say that Village Tavern is one of the best places in Manila. I genuinely enjoyed the good food and especially, the service! I tried to find a fault in this restaurant prior to writing this review but can't think of any. We ordered the Black Pizza, Cowboy burger and a slice of Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Everything was really delicious. The dough of the black pizza was the right kind of softness. The meatiness of the burger was better than my favorite Chili's burger. The sweet potato fries that came with the burger was the best that I have ever tasted. Looking at Village Tavern's service, everything is perfect. The staff was so attendant that when I was trying to take a picture of my group, a waiter suddenly approached us and offered to take our picture. Those little details of attentiveness are hard to find and Village Tavern delivers with ease. Don't forget to call them first for a reservation because this place gets packed on a Saturday night.

They have a wide variety of food to offer, but I usually get their wagyu sliders just cause I can't finish their regular sized burgers (too big for me) I love their sweet potato fries it's super crisp and perfect! Great ambiance + fast free wifi. Their bathroom is also clean and well maintained. Although their service on a Sunday night wasn't as good as I expected. Forgot to refill our water and every time I would raise my hand for something, took them around 2 minutes to see I was calling for them. I'm guessing cause we came after the peak (around 10 pm) price is a bit pricey but since we purchased the premiere discount card, it's super worth it! 20% off plus 250 pesos discount on the total bill.

Village Tavern has all the details of a fine dining restaurant, but my visit was peppered with two not so fine details, which include a Taylor Swift playlist and warm ventilation that got me sweating under my clothes. The food was good, though. I liked the light-tasting Black Pizza and the overly tasssty Truffle Burger. I just hope my next visit will be more comfy.

As much as I want to rate this place higher, there are just some things I'm not fond of in Village Tavern's Menu. Before you even change your mind, order the Jalapeño Poppers as your appetizer. This dish might help you decide on what exactly you want as your main dish. I've been here twice already and I've learned from experience that the pizzas here aren't too good. I found the pizza itself too doughy and dense, the toppings were so little. It seemed like you were just eating bread. You're better off with the pasta - I really enjoyed the Chicken Pesto Pasta here. The pasta is cooked al dente and the chickens strips were tender. Get a frozen margarita to complement your meal! It's fun drinking this because you will feel like the drink will be never end (since it's slushy)!

Just had the most perfect lazy morning breakfast at George and Onnie's (or Little Flour, whatever…read morethey're calling it now) and I'm still thinking about it hours later. Walked in around 7:30 before the mall got crazy, and the place was chill with that cozy café smell hitting you right away--fresh coffee and baked goods. Ordered the longsilog and wow, the longganisa patty was juicy and garlicky without being too greasy, paired with perfectly sunny-side-up eggs and garlic rice that was spot-on crispy. The atchara on the side cut through everything so nicely. Grabbed their signature ube pandesal French toast on the side because why not, and it was ridiculous--soft, custardy inside with that sweet ube glaze that wasn't overpowering. Coffee was strong and hot, just how I like it. Server was super attentive without hovering, refilled my water before I even asked. For the price, it felt like a steal compared to other spots in the area. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. 100% coming back tomorrow before my flight. If you're anywhere near Newport, don't sleep on this place.

After a…read morelittle online sleuthing (a.k.a. me scrolling through Google Maps like it's Tinder), I decided to check out Pancake House -- conveniently a short walk from where I was staying. Like most sit-down spots in BGC, the service was lovely -- smiles all around, not a single complaint. But let me drop a PSA for any future diners: these folks have Olympic-level upselling skills. You think you're just getting a drink? Boom -- now it's a refillable iced tea. You order a meal? Suddenly, it comes with a "highly recommended" upgrade. They could probably convince you to add an appetizer to your water. Anyway, I went with the pork tocino breakfast (because I'm not about to skip protein) and added caramel walnut banana pancakes -- because self-care. The tocino and garlic fried rice were so good I had to tap out before even touching the pancakes, so I boxed them to go. Fast-forward a few hours: I'm ready for my pancake moment. I butter them up, drizzle that caramel sauce, take a bite -- and immediately go, "Wait... why does this taste... meaty?" After a few detective bites, I realized there was definitely some kind of cross-contact situation happening. Somewhere, a rogue spatula betrayed me. I sadly retired the pancakes to the trash. Honestly, aside from the unexpected meat-flavored dessert, it was still a decent experience and a solid kickoff to my BGC trip. Lesson learned though: in Manila, even your pancakes might come with a little extra protein. Overall, I'm giving the tocino breakfast a 4.5, the banana pancakes a 2 (1 for looks and the other 2 for effort), service a 4 so I feel a solid 3.5. Worth a visit and the Mind Museum is a short walk away too!!

We were walking around we couldn't make a decision on where to eat despite massive choices in restaurants. I ordered 2 taco, that says"best intown" but it's not the best. Taco bell is better, and I'm not a taco person. My husband ordered the chicken burger, he didn't eat it at all because of the pure grease on the deep deep fridge chicken meat upon biting. The bread they used for a burger tasted weird. The kids ordered pancake for supper , pancake is always a safe choice. So one star only. I was warned.

Got there right around 7:30, snagged a nice window table with morning light pouring in, and dove straight into the spread. They had this killer lineup--garlic rice, longganisa that was juicy and not too sweet, perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy danggit, and some really good tapa that was tender and full of flavor. The free-flowing coffee kept coming without me even asking, which was clutch. Everything tasted fresh, nothing felt like it was sitting out too long, and the vibe inside is so chill and homey, like you're eating at a friend's place but better. They have a breakfast buffet every Friday to Sunday which starts at 7 am and ends at 10 am. They don't have a lavish spread of items on the buffet to choose from, but they do have just the right amount of variety to keep your meal from becoming a dull repetition of viands. From my experience, they had breakfast items such as tocino, scrambled eggs, tapa, and fish fillet. They change the choices once in a while, and they have free-flowing coffee as part of the package!! So be early! If you miss the buffet, don't worry! They have lots of a la carte meals that will satisfy you as much as their buffet will.

My heart wanted to go with the ube pancakes, but my mind ordered the lox and rosti. The portion size was decent! It reminded me of the portion sizes in the United States. It was quite filling! It was delicious. It came with 4 pieces of lox, a pan fried potato cake, salad greens, pickles, pickled onions, and a poached egg. I also ordered the matcha Freddo, which was a coffee with matcha on top. It was interesting! I haven't had anything like that before. Most other places it tasted more like a matcha latte, but this one you could taste the distinct coffee and matcha flavors. It's iced so it's perfect for the heat! They are in their soft opening phase. The service was really attentive (then again most places here in the Philippines have good customer service). The ambiance is clean and modern. It's a nice space to come dine or have coffee. They have a pastry case when you walk in! Some may assume that they only do coffee and pastries. Though, they have a full on menu! It's more than what appears to the eye. They also have 2 hours of free WiFi which can be accessed via a voucher. They also have AC! Overall, I had a great experience here. I would come back and try some other things on the menu. I do wish they had more healthier options, but I know not everyone has the same taste as me. For my meal, coffee and mineral water I think I spent around $12 USD.
