As part of the Bistro Group, Village Tavern got a facelift and the menu is quite different now. The ambience is nice and the service was good. The food is fine, but it's lost its uniqueness. Steak dishes look like they came from Texas Roadhouse. Entrées could easily be served at TGI Fridays. The pasta dishes and pizzas look like they came from Italianis. The free bread with olive oil & balsamic is taken from Italianis too. When Village Tavern originally opened they had a unique and creative menu. They had an interesting bone marrow appetizer. All the unique dishes are gone now. The food is not bad. It's just... Uninspired. It feels like Bistro just canabilized the menus of their other concepts and came up with a very safe menu. The upside: This place has had a major face lift in the past year, and it's new Remodeled look is a lot more esthetic. Since we've gotten the bistro group card, village tavern is one of our favorite restaurants to visit. It reminds me of a Cheesecake Factory from the United States not because of cheesecake but because of the many choices of food it has to offer. The downside: at our recent visit today. There's 2 servers and 3 tables for a total of 7 customers total, but for some reason it was impossible to get in touch with a server for more water or napkins. The manager on duty was atleast polite and friendly. I hope the service gets better. Must try's: 1) fish tacos 2) cowboy burger 3) Thai chicken salad 4) wagyu sliders - They also have 95 peso cocktails before 7pm everyday -30% off beers before 7pm If you're coming here be sure to get the bistro card. American food generally falls within my area of non-commitment; I don't hate it, I wouldn't say no to it, but I can't say that I ever crave for it. And truth be told, I wasn't expecting anything spectacular when I attended my cousin's birthday lunch at Village Tavern, but what I found there surprised me. Village Tavern is a spacious restaurant that serves your usual steaks, burgers, pizzas, and ribs, but with a Southwestern twist. For their mains, I recommend ordering a half or full rack of the Texan Baby Back Ribs (P650/P1350) served with cola and chipotle glaze. A half rack of around 6 pieces of ribs is good enough for one person. The Black Pizza (P475) also exceeded my expectations because the crust was really soft and pillowy. I have absolutely no regrets eating all of it. Just keep in mind, however, that prices at Village Tavern are on the higher levels and can easily pile up to a pricey bill. read more

I'll give a thumbs-up for a nice tavern interior. You have the options of sitting inside, outside, and at the bar. Place is well-ventilated and very roomy with lots of breathing room. Spaghetti Al Vongole had delicious clams. Both pastas we tried were actually good, but this one was more noteworthy. Pizza was fair but not the best I've tried. I like that the Classic Cheeseburger comes in two sizes. It was pretty good and the beef was juicy and tasty. Its fries had a lovely crunch outside and was soft and hot inside. Ahi Tuna & Potato Salad is love! Calamari is no-frills. Service was great! Thank you to the staff for singing for the occasion. After reading all the reviews and hype about this restaurant, I came in with extremely high expectations. I was always critical of restaurants with rave reviews because it's easy to be influenced by other's recommendations rather than appreciate the food that is right in front of you. I guess I'll go straight to the point and say that Village Tavern is one of the best places in Manila. I genuinely enjoyed the good food and especially, the service! I tried to find a fault in this restaurant prior to writing this review but can't think of any. We ordered the Black Pizza, Cowboy burger and a slice of Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Everything was really delicious. The dough of the black pizza was the right kind of softness. The meatiness of the burger was better than my favorite Chili's burger. The sweet potato fries that came with the burger was the best that I have ever tasted. Looking at Village Tavern's service, everything is perfect. The staff was so attendant that when I was trying to take a picture of my group, a waiter suddenly approached us and offered to take our picture. Those little details of attentiveness are hard to find and Village Tavern delivers with ease. Don't forget to call them first for a reservation because this place gets packed on a Saturday night. read more

They have a wide variety of food to offer, but I usually get their wagyu sliders just cause I can't finish their regular sized burgers (too big for me) I love their sweet potato fries it's super crisp and perfect! Great ambiance + fast free wifi. Their bathroom is also clean and well maintained. Although their service on a Sunday night wasn't as good as I expected. Forgot to refill our water and every time I would raise my hand for something, took them around 2 minutes to see I was calling for them. I'm guessing cause we came after the peak (around 10 pm) price is a bit pricey but since we purchased the premiere discount card, it's super worth it! 20% off plus 250 pesos discount on the total bill. read more

Village Tavern gives of an image of a dingy, tired bar haunt for old men, right? Well, it isn't. I've actually passed by Village Tavern many times but, I decided recently to try it. Honestly, I thought it was an Italian restaurant. To my surprise, the food is mostly American food! About the food, I had high expectations because my friends in the BGC area enjoy eating here. Unfortunately, I felt underwhelmed with the food I tried. Plus, for the price I had to pay, I was expecting to at least be full after the meal. Small servings + high prices are not a good combination. There were some good dishes. Try the Black Pizza and Chorizo & Goat Cheese rolls. Those would be the dishes I would order again. The saving grace, for me, is their Happy Hour and cocktail list. Their Sangria is pretty good. :) Village Tavern is a place you go to with your friends or family to socialize, have a drink or 2 then move on to the next bar or restaurant. read more

As much as I want to rate this place higher, there are just some things I'm not fond of in Village Tavern's Menu. Before you even change your mind, order the Jalapeño Poppers as your appetizer. This dish might help you decide on what exactly you want as your main dish. I've been here twice already and I've learned from experience that the pizzas here aren't too good. I found the pizza itself too doughy and dense, the toppings were so little. It seemed like you were just eating bread. You're better off with the pasta - I really enjoyed the Chicken Pesto Pasta here. The pasta is cooked al dente and the chickens strips were tender. Get a frozen margarita to complement your meal! It's fun drinking this because you will feel like the drink will be never end (since it's slushy)! read more

Bad service. Sat and watched my beer sit on the bar getting warm waiting to be served for a good 15 minutes. This happened twice. It was NOT busy at all. Staff seem rather clueless in just the basics of service. There's no excuse this place has been open for several years now. Good was over salted. Their interiors resemble a modern tavern minus the rooms for lodging. What is so great about this place? It's actually what happens to this tavern during Mondays that you should take note of. They offer a 40% discount on all your meals every Monday for the whole day. No wonder this place was packed when I came for lunch and dinner on a Monday. That is definitely a huge discount considering that they are quite pricey. Some favorites here include their Flat Bread Tavern Pizza, Grilled Chicken Spinach Salad that comes with a muffin on the side, their Carbonara pasta and the Clam Chowder too. The baby back ribs was good, the fried pork was dry, the burger was average. It took some time for the order to be served but thats understandable. What was bad was the service. For the price, one would expect at least a speedy service. I forgot to order rice with the main course. The rice arrive after two followups when i requested that this be cancelled. I asked for a refill of cold water and this was given when i stood up to personally get it near the counter. Another water refill took about 15 minutes to be completed. I could understand if the restaurant was full but there were about four or five vacant tables besides ours. Hope service improves. read more

If you're in the fort and you can't decide on where to eat, Village Tavern is definitely a great option - whether it be as a date place, or even a chill night out drinking with friends. The ambiance is relaxing and intimate (especially if you stay in one of their secluded booths), which encourages conversations that are just as intimate. The staff is always very friendly, accommodating, and happy to recommend items on the menu. We started off with their Homemade Jalapeño Poppers, which have the perfect hint of spice and stuffed with bacon and cream cheese. I tried their Grilled Chicken Penne, which was pretty decent. Creamy and chewy. We also ordered their Black Pizza, which I found to be quite intriguing. I had never before seen pizza with a black crust! Cheesy and topped with lots of pepperoni (my fave), how could you go wrong? I'm not really a fan of carrot cake, but their The Very Best Carrot Cake is definitely worth trying. Ending the night with a pitcher of their fruity red sangria, I knew I would be back at VIllage Tavern - and sooner rather than later. read more

This place was horrible, service managers and waitress need training. I have been in the Philippines over a month now and I frequently visit the restaurants on high street. Today though, left little to desire. I ordered a sandwich that came with fries and everything was cold especially the fries. I advised the waiter and they came back with the same fries that they just refried. Disgusting hard fries! Then when checking out Celine, our waitress seemed to be in a rush and had very little patience in a restaurant where we were the only ones there. As my friend was paying he told her to hold on, mind you bill is already paid, he was getting more cash to tip her, although tip was already included and she threw to be a tantrum, threw her hands up in dismay and seemed to piss her off. Here's the thing as guests at your establishment you should be more patient, kind and offer better service!
