Do not go here. My husband & I left in the middle of the night because of the noise and we did not feel safe.
Also, it is really an RV lot not set up for camping. Our tent was squeezed between 2 giant RVs and the pick up trucks used to pull them in a long line of the same. Site is right along the highway.
We had never been kayaking on Lake Champlain. We car topped our two kayaks and packed up our tent hoping for a peaceful experience in the natural beauty of Vermont.
Arrived about 3 pm & decided to put up with camping between the giant RV motor homes since we were so close to the lake. We felt a weird vibe at the pool, with no one speaking to us, but lots of stares.
Around 6 pm, a parade of pick up trucks pulling motor boats filled with loud people started heading in.
Golf carts are available for use, and despite the law, adults & kids of all ages were driving them round & round loaded with people hanging off - obviously for the fun, not to get anywhere. All day and after dark.
At sunset - people opened car doors so they could blast their car radios. The main activity at this campground seems to be drinking. And more drinking.
About 11 pm, after trying to sleep for an hour or two, despite people throwing fireworks near our tent all evening, we overheard our very drunk neighbors, who had decorated their site with confederate flags, talk about how they wanted to burn a cross in front of the only non-white person at the campground. More talk of doing violence to certain others at the campground followed.
One more round of fireworks lighting up our tent and we packed up as fast as we could and at midnight we drove 40 miles to the nearest town, Burlington.
PROS: fairly clean
green grass & trees
near motor boat launch
small clean swimming pool
small grocery store
kid friendly
dogs allowed
CONS: noisy, noisy, noisy
no oversight from staff
rude staff
people racing golf carts and other small vehicles constantly
limited, clean but rundown bathrooms
old & rundown facilities
many heavily intoxicated people
Drinking water is cloudy and tastes like chemicals
In conclusion, if you like RVs, getting drunk, shooting off fireworks, letting your kids drive golf carts, have a big noisy motorboat & pick up truck - this is a great place.
If you like camping in a peaceful environment & want to feel safe - then avoid this camp ground.
We paid $44 up front for 2 nights. The flat out refused to refund us for the night we weren't there, let alone the night we got harassed out of there. read more
