I had heard great things about this firm and I decided to have my parenting agreement and support case handled by them after my first choice was on maternity leave, Mollie Peskind. Jeff Muntz took my initial call and recommended I go with a Jr associate, Alyssa Smith as I had already gone through mediation and only a few items outstanding. After reading good reviews on her and promised by Jeff my case would be overseen by Sr attorneys I hired her on. Other reviews mention Alyssa is nice and responsive (agreed) but you also need to be aggressive with the opposing counsel and knowledgeable. To give details on my case I was unmarried and only needed a parenting plan support filed which again most had already been handled by mediation including financial calculations. Support calculations reflected I should obtain $400 more monthly from my current verbal arrangement with my ex. The calculations took into account the ~50 annual sleepovers (PT dad), medical credit of $200 because I carry her on my insurance etc. Alyssa went to pre trial without EVER asking for "discovery" to obtain bank statements and credit card expenses which is crucial since my ex is self employed (lawyer), makes almost double of what I make, luxury cars written off as business expense (extra income to him) and to have more of an argument for the extra support. Alyssa was recommending for me to agree to the same amount of support my ex and I had already agreed to verbally before we hired lawyers. She didn't seem to know how to read the financials, calculations nor knowledge to have more evidence and ask for discovery. I also found myself correcting Alyssa on more than one occasion on items we had already covered. I left a message for Jeff Muntz about my case and I never received a call. Then I called Tricia and she never called me back so I sent her an email. I did obtain a response but never did they acknowledge any of the details I'm stating on here. After I decided not to continue my case with this firm I scheduled several consults with other attorneys and they all didn't understand why at this juncture at least my parenting plan had not been filed with court as the only pending item was support. All of the attorneys stated discovery is crucial in my situation. Do your due diligence. Also pay attention to billing and understand how you will be billed because it adds up quick and I was considered an easy case. Although for most Jr associates you end up paying $250 an hour regardless if court goes only for 5 min this firm like most larger firms will charge you additional fees for the admin work. One example I was not happy about were two court appearances from Alyssa which cost me $400 each (after their hourly rate and admin fees). One they requested for a judge change on their part and another the opposing counsel called in sick. This is already overwhelming to not hire an attorney you are paying to actually get the ball rolling on your behalf. But let's get down to where rubber meets the road for most reviewers... Jeff doesn't schedule unnecessary meetings, phone calls, or other reasons to simply charge clients more billable hours. Contrarily, Jeff and Goostree Law Group have worked with me on outstanding monthly balances through the years. Furthermore, Jeff professionally advocates on my behalf and is thoughtful, putting my son's best interest first. For example, when I have wanted to escalate various issues, Jeff has provided legal counsel and ways to navigate the "system" to help us achieve desired outcomes. My ex-girlfriend and family have tried to financially bully me into litigation, but Jeff's keen understanding of the law has aided in justification of submitting petitions at the "right" time. Jeff Muntz completely turned my case around - he is the reason my baby boy has equal and frequent access to both me and his mom. As a single father navigating a contentious divorce and fighting for parenting time and overnights, the odds seemed against me. When my previous attorney wasn't able to get a favourable outcome, I contacted Goostree Law Group and retained Jeff in January 2021. Swift and to the point, he isn't afraid to take on an aggressive opposing attorney. Shortly after he took my case, my parenting time was expanded to overnights. Throughout the case, Jeff was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The way he bills time is very fair and convenient whenever I needed to have a short phone call with him. He gives clear updates after every court appearance. Most importantly, Jeff's experience as a GAL and understanding of the legal system proved invaluable. He was able to bring the opposing party to the table and negotiated a settlement favourable for everyone, resulting in 50/50 parenting time before our boy turned one. If you're a father reading this now, then you know that's not an easy feat in Illinois. I should add, he makes for a pretty good therapist, though I don't recommend it from a financial standpoint LOL - it's better and cheaper to keep your inner noise to a minimum and go for a jog instead. No doubt divorces can be expensive. Jeff's hourly rate is higher than some other attorneys, but that's for a good reason. In hindsight, I would've spent a LOT less money overall if I had hired Jeff Muntz from the start. For those in the middle of it, hang in there - it does get easier. My case ended in September 2021, and things have been pretty great since. Maybe you're lucky and you're going through an easy case, or perhaps your case is more like mine, and you feel like there's no way forward. Either way, get Jeff! read more

I am so grateful for Tricia and her guidance during a difficult time in my life. Tricia is honest, which in these circumstances is so important. She fought for the things she knew I needed, but also helped me be realistic on things that were unlikely. This is vital because divorce is expensive. When I first met her and went through my questions for her she told me, "you don't step over a dollar to pick up a dime." She really sticks by this. Clearly it's best to avoid court fees, mediation costs, etc. I think she works hard to advocate for her clients, but also is wants you to be reasonable in your requests. I appreciated her emotional support as well. I think dealing with divorcing people all day is likely exhausting, but she never made me feel like the things that upset me were trivial. I am so grateful for the support from both her and Paulette, the wonderful woman who answers the phone in her office. I never felt like a burden and was always treated with respect. I got a great picture of how amazing Tricia and her staff are when dealing with my ex's counsel who really struck me as being incompetent and causing more issues than need be. If I could give a higher rating, I would. Tricia worked nothing short of miracles in my divorce. After having hired a different attorney when my divorce first started that was suggested by a friend in a matter of 2 and a half years nothing was accomplished other than a complete loss of financial stability for me and my family and literally nothing was accomplished. After speaking to a few different attorneys before retaining Tricia and Goostree law I was told my divorce had been grossly miss handled and that it would take excess of 20K for them to unravel the mess. Tricia made no false promises and defiantly undersold herself. In a matter of about 3 months the custody portion of my divorce was signed and about 2 months later the financial portion was done as well.
