Met with Julie Pirtle the first week of November explaining my goals with my divorce. I knew I would need to pay alimony but didn't know how much. I said my husband doesn't want the divorce. She gave me a quote of 3500 to 5000 for the divorce. It ended up costing me 12,500 more than double. If there had been progress made, I would have been ok paying the money but there wasn't. Received bills with double billings, items that didn't belong on the bill, items that said no charge but were charged for it. The most concerning issue was receiving other client's information. Who received my information? When I asked about it, they said there was a lawyer with similar email address as mine. I use AOL, what lawyer uses AOL? Most times when I was given a document to read and approve, there was some issue that wasn't correct. I had provided all the financial information and it wasn't used correctly; it was wrong in the documents. For example, in calculating the alimony, she used my exact salary but rounded my ex-husband's social security down. This caused a difference in $200 monthly on my alimony. Tax returns with all of my information were sent via email to my ex's lawyer then on to him. I provided a secure portal when I gave them the information and pointed out email is easily hacked and I didn't want my information sent via email. I dealt with 5 different people in this organization. Each month there was a status hearing and each time I was told there was no agreement with the other lawyer. I was charged for 30 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes of status time. The status is a call with the judge where 20 or so cases are held in 30 minutes. She may have spoken for 5 minutes but I was charged for 30. Since these were remote, I am sure other work was taking place. This happened for 6 months. During this time, I was talking to my ex-husband, and he said we were in agreement. I asked for details from my lawyer and could never get any concrete information. In March, I asked to have a meeting with both lawyers and my ex-husband so that we could finalize the divorce. This meeting was never setup, and my request was ignored when I asked about it. Then I resorted to having my ex put in writing what we agreed to. He sent that to me in email, I sent on to both lawyers. This was in April and still no movement on the divorce. I just got reprimanded by my lawyer for going directly to the other lawyer. I kept asking why this wasn't resolved yet, and no I wasn't nice about it. I felt completely ripped off by this organization so Julie fired me as her client saying I didn't have confidence in their firm - no kidding who would! I hired a new lawyer and it was smooth and done in 2 months. read more

Julie Pirtle was the representative for both of my children, so yes I am a client. Julie was on the case when my son was assaulted, she conveniently asked for an emergency discharge, 6 days before my sons death. She was informed by medical professionals at children's Laurie's hospital that there was significant concern that my son had been penetrated with an object. Miss Pirtle did not report these concerns to the court. Miss Pirtle was already made aware that the man she recommended custody to admitted to assault on me and admitted to being a risk of assault to his own children.My son died three months after his suspected assault. My son was two years old and was my entire world. Miss Pirtle never apologized, she never reached out, she never attempted to write a wrong and even today she spends an exorbitant amount of time defending her actions. Miss Pirtle is by far the most unprofessional, unpleasant and excessively priced law firm I have ever come across. The way this case was handled was shameful and because of the handling I am now without my son. read more

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE! Julie Pirtle is about as unprofessional and unethical as they come. Throughout the course of her tenure handling my case, Pirtle rarely followed up on correspondence; did not communicate case details; had no goals or plans for my case; and displayed an abundance of unethical behavior. I have been a federal agent for over 13 1/2 years and have worked directly with private attorneys and Assistant United States Attorney's on a regular basis in a professional capacity. Never have I encountered an attorney as unethical and unprofessional as Pirtle. At the onset of the case Pirtle sent out a letter before the first hearing which stated, "your attendance is not required and we will appear on your behalf." On the day of the hearing I received multiple phone calls from Pirtle's office asking where I was. The lawyer arguing on my behalf for the temporary order was not even Pirtle. It was a lawyer I had never heard of or met. When I received the order substantiated from the hearing via email, there were an abundance of financial obligations and addendums made against me. These addendums were literally handwritten in with pen. After the hearing there was no call from Pirtle; no professional letter head explaining anything; just an email the following day from her apologizing for, "the error." The error being I should have been present. She tried explaining away the error stating I didn't really need to be there. Contrary to the fact the attorney she sent in her place called me multiple times inquiring about my whereabouts and crucial details which would have helped the negotiations. Pirtle has since down played the effects her error had on me financially. I can produce tens of thousands of dollars in receipts and check images to confirm this it has had an enormous impact on me. In May 2019 there were important discovery requests and a letter from opposing counsel which were forwarded 8 days after Pirtle received them. When asked why it took 8 days to receive them Pirtle never responded. In June of 2019, Pirtle's paralegal was tasked with sending out important court documents which included time sensitive details involving a guardian ad litem (GAL) assigned to my case. A couple weeks after the documents should have been sent, I got a call from the GAL, assigned to my case, asking why I had not reached out to set up an appointment. The GAL also informed me of the court ordered retainer fee I owed her. The GAL stated Pirtle should have contacted me a couple weeks prior with the details. This caught me completely caught off guard and fearful of the effects this mistake could have on my case with regards to the GAL's investigation into my parenting time. When I called Pirtle to confront her she was unavailable. Magically while I was on hold with Pirtle's Office an email appeared with the documents I should have received 2 weeks prior. Underneath the most recent message was the original email with the documents from the day the email was supposed to have been sent. A cursory glance at the email would indicate I missed the email from a couple weeks prior or it may have been filtered to my junk mail. Under further review it was confirmed the email hyperlink was doctored. Instead of admitting she made a mistake by sending the documents to the wrong email, the paralegal doctored the email hyperlink under the guise she had sent it to my email the day I should have received it. The font doesn't even match! This electronic correspondence and the fudged hyperlink were verified by law enforcement. When I met with Pirtle the following day she shrugged it off as, "human error." She took some charges off of my bill, which were peanuts compared to what she charged for her far from less than mediocre work. Pucci and Pirtle should be reported to the bar association and no longer be able to practice law. Just as all the other reviews state... Julia and her associates will agree to represent you in your case and then withdrawal from the case near the end with no explanation. This allows them to collect thousands and thousands of dollars without fully completing their responsibility as a lawyer. They have also been known to breach their retainer agreement. I would not recommend Julia Pucci to represent you in your divorce unless you have an unlimited supply of money to pay her until the end. My first meeting with her I look back on now and feel she looked over all my financial information and the circumstances of my case to assess whether she would get paid. I don't feel my interests were fought for or taken into account on any level. Once the money and potential for money were gone, so was she. I sat across from her in her fancy new office as she made mention of her hair salon side hustle at our first meeting and told me to take a Xanax at our second and only other in person meeting. I don't know much about being a lawyer, but I am a human being. Someone going through the stress and pain of a divorce doesn't care about your extra side business, FYI. But thanks for giving me an idea of why things have dragged and why MY needs weren't being met. They are fee generators, plain and simple. My experience with my divorce has been one of the hardest I've ever been through. I believe my choice of her as my lawyer contributed to that. I'm sure they will have their legal reasons as to why my divorce had gone on so long. They constantly put a lot of blame on the other side. Who knows if that's even the truth?!? I do know at about the year and 3 month mark I received an email on July 3rd at 4:38pm with her 'Motion to Withdraw" from my case. She was uncertain of the risk vs. benefit reward of continuing to represent me stating a 'material breakdown of communication'. My balance was also growing due to the outrageous length of time it was taking with no progress in getting me where I wanted to be. Divorced! By the time I received this email it was well after they were gone for the day to be with their families for the holiday weekend. I had no hope of discussing this with anyone until the following Monday, July 8th!!! It still shocks me that anyone would do this to someone. Especially a law firm that claims to "treat each client as family'. No, that isn't how you treat family. I scraped together enough money to keep her on as my lawyer in July 2019 only to have the same thing happen 3 months later at the end of October 2019. I'm now STILL not divorced and sans lawyer as well. So please, you're going to come across their website and possibly get impressed with how it's presented. You're going to see pictures of a team of women who are posed to look confident and willing to fight for you. You're going to step foot in their office for the first time and notice the newness of everything, even the smell. (You'll be paying for it! Don't let it fool you!) You're going to sit across from them looking for help and answers. All they are going to do is look at you with dollar signs in their eyes while they pretend to care and 'treat you like family'. I needed compassion and understanding and I received none. I don't doubt they have many success stories, but they certainly failed me. I write this review to prevent what happened to me for over a year and half from happening to another person. I am now left to represent myself, get myself child support (after a year and half!), and finally get myself divorced. I end my relationship with them feeling taken advantage of. I've wasted time and thousands of dollars. A majority of people don't ever expect to get divorced, but please know that not all divorce lawyers are the same and I truly believe that it all comes down to money for this law firm. They quit on me when I needed them the most. Also, as a side note, if you've read other reviews as I have, you'll notice a constant reoccurring theme among Pucci and Pirtle's comments back to commenters. For example, "Family law proceedings are so emotionally charged and can be very stressful for all parties involved" and 'Family law proceedings can be highly emotionally charged and it is impossible to make everyone happy'. As well as on their website: The 'emotions' involved in divorce. The 'emotional toll' it takes. My reason for mentioning this is it's an easy way for them to put our dissatisfaction back on us for being emotional. Don't fall for that either! Of course we're emotional! My advice is to take a breath and try to clear your head. Research many lawyers. Seek out free legal advice wherever it's available. Ask friends. I chose wrong. Very wrong. In June of 2019, when she was asked specific questions related to the GAL and the mess her office's unethical behavior created; she actually wrote in an email, "If you have lost faith in my office, I suggest you find a new attorney." A real attorney would have gone out of their way and attempted to fix the problem. The case was scheduled for trial in July of 2019, so instead of cutting my losses and finding another attorney, I chose to drive on. Big mistake. In June and July 2019, Pirtle's office racked up a bunch of charges before a pretrial conference and subsequently withdrew from the case, leaving me with a huge mess. Pirtle withdrew citing discrepancies on a discovery document. A discovery document which her office mishandled. Conveniently, the same paralegal who was handling my documents was fired in August of 2019. It appears like a good opportunity for plausible deniability on Pirtle's part. No matter what Pirtle or her staff did with my discovery documents whether it was unwittingly or intentionally, it was a convenient excuse for Pirtle to withdraw from my case. Everything in this review can be backed up with electronic evidence and correspondence. Throughout this experience the court documents Pirtle drafted were poorly written with the appearance some of the content was copied and pasted from previous cases. It's a crime a person can charge $325.00 per hour for absolutely nothing more than setting a case back. This office was absolutely not founded on prowess for the law and ethical law practice. Since this has happened, I have had several attorney's recommend I report Pirtle and her office for what they did to my case. Pirtle has been reported to the Illinois Attorney Registration and Discipline Commission. The commission had her respond for her and her office's actions. When Pirtle withdrew my case was about in the same place as it had been over 7 months earlier. It feels like Pirtle stole approximately 18,395.00 from me and got away with it. As if this wasn't enough, Pirtle has the audacity to send me statements each month for an unpaid balance for alleged work which had no bearing on my case. Divorce is already a stressor, but to have your own attorney betray and quit on you is maddening. My sincere hope is for no one else to endure the stress and aggravation Pirtle and her office caused me. read more

My review is 100% honest. For anyone that is questioning the validity of my review please feel free to send me a message for additional information/proof. After meeting with 3 different attorneys for my case I thought I was making the right decision on choosing Julia to represent me. It turned out to be the biggest (and most expensive mistake that I have ever made). After working with Julia on my case for several weeks I suddenly one day out of nowhere received a "Motion to Withdraw" from her assistant. I was confused so I responded to the email asking what this was about and Julia responded that because she thought my case would not go in my favor she was withdrawing. Being that I was her client, you would think she would at least have the decency to give me a heads up that she was abandoning me as a client. But no, instead of being treated like a client I was treated like a stranger of the opposing party. I had spent a year saving up the $2500 retainer fee which was not easy being a single mother of 2 young children. All I got out of that $2500 was a looming court date with no choice but to represent myself. If an attorney decides that THEY no longer want your case then they should refund your money to you. It seems very unethical to take on a case and then halfway through quit for your own personal reasons and still keep all of the money. By doing this she made it impossible for me to hire another attorney to complete the job that she couldn't. I unfortunately have to agree with the bad reviews of this firm. We retained Alyssa Smith back in February of 2019. Her initial promise was to take my ex to court for the multiple and aggregious violations of my child visitation order as well as a false order of protection my ex filed against me. Somehow I lost the order of protection even though my ex started it and ran over my foot with her car and we had it all on video. She explained that we would give in now and take her to court later. I reluctantly agreed to a compromise. Over the course of the next 18 months she has cost me thousands of dollars due to her lack of response or direction on my case. She repeatedly told me that my case was being extended due to negotiations with my ex's attorney that were supposed to get me more visitation time. My ex was not selling the house as she was supposed to and Alyssa did nothing but move my court date for 6 months until I finally asked her to stop moving the court date. Magically - my ex sold the house within one week of this decision. Alyssa's entire strategy seemed to be to try to get my ex to agree to stuff. If I had known that initially, I never would have hired her since I had already wasted a year in arbitration and my ex won't budget on any issue - no matter how small. My ex plays a lot of games and just refused to respond to any issue or motion - and Alyssa just sat back and ignored all of my emails asking what I should do. The worst offense was I was attempting to pay my ex for activities and expenses for 6 full months and she was refusing to accept payment and saying I was lying about trying to pay her. She claimed all checks were "lost in the mail". She was doing this intentionally so that I couldn't claim the kids on the taxes. I ended up sending her lawyer my payment and the lawyer couldn't even get her to pick it up. I repeatedly asked my lawyer what I should do - how I could prove payment and how I could still claim the kids and she never responded other than to say "I am sure it will be fine". Long story short - my ex filed taxes before I could and claimed all four kids - cheating me out of $4500 plus the additional $1000 per kid for the stimulus payments. Alyssa never once acknowledged her fault in this situation - despite me sending a very thorough email (copying Julie Pirtle) on how many times I had emailed and called to no response. Then my ex filed against me to terminate maintenance and I couldn't fire Alyssa otherwise I would have gotten further screwed. All told I spent over $20k on a case where not only did I not win anything, I lost everything. I would never recommend this firm. I never would have started anything with my ex if she had been honest about her strategy. I was up front and honest about my income situation and I paid her more than I made last year. I am not sure how they sleep at night. read more

Horrible choice of representation regarding my divorce. Pucci never showed up and she is the lawyer I hired to represent me. I only met with Pucci once during the whole divorce proceedings. They delayed paperwork every time my ex tried to contact them, accruing more charges. No sense of urgency, good for them because they keep getting paid. However, when money was owed they were sure to harass me with phone calls and emails. Then they threatened me stating they are going to go to court to get me to pay them. I was actually getting along with my ex and court shoud of moved very quickly. We agreed on everything! Then came the "prove up" date which they tried to delay again. Their excuse was that we will have to work around the judges schedule. That is true but that was already scheduled on the previous court date. So they LIED! Again dragging things on to take more of my money. They own 2 Hair Salons which is most likely funded by the racket they have going at their firm. DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM FOR DIVORCE!!! They will drag it on as long as possible. And be sure to read carefully how they bill you, as it is hard to understand and they know that. So about $7,000 later I FIRED Pucci and represented pro Se. I hired Pucci&Purtle firm to dismiss child custody case that did not belong by law to Illinois because it was initiated in California. Pucci&Purtle firm done every possible effort to keep the case in Illinois. They work AGAINST ME NOT FOR ME! They charged me for e-mails and phone conversation when they tried to convince me to do actions to hurt my family! I fired this firm and von my case by doing exactly opposite to what the firm recommended. In Court firm agreed from my name to offer without even asking my opinion and that hurt my case. Pucci went to Court without notifying me that Court date exist and got judgement against me to pay money for work I never authorize them to do and never saw it done. I filed complaint and ask Court to reconsider decision. Unfortunatelly Court did not allow me to appear remotely and I cannot afford to fly to Court in Illinois from California because I am single mom of three children. Horrible and not educated. If a case is too much for an attorney and they are not entirely familiar with the correct way to handle and successfully represent their client, they should not take it and perhaps recommend someone who is more experienced. I wasted, literally wasted, $2500 dollars. Not only did the attorney charge me for a court appearance that she was LATE to, she couldn't even tell me what happened. Her explanation was that the other attorney showed up early, before The scheduled time. I didn't realize judges did that. Apparently, according to her, you just have to show up early and the hearing will begin early... That's not how law works. By the way, the lateness was confirmed by the opposing counsel, that was there on time. Not to mention, I was supposed to get refunded a very small amount of my retainer,but apparently they realized there were additional charges after representation had ended. They just forgot to inform me of them. This firm caused my case to be much worse than it should have been. I had to spend an additional $8000 to get myself out of the hole this attorney dug for me.
