I always recommend people and have for the past 10 years that I have been practicing there. It has only gotten better since Shannon has taken over and I love how the studio grows and evolves as she does. I go back and forth to Florida and I still do my yoga practice virtually and through the recorded sessions when I am down here even though there are tons of studios walking distance from where I am. I wish you still recorded some of the classes actually as I would love to experience some of the ones that don't fit into my schedule I am grateful for Onyx , Shannon , Nicole , Denise and Jane. Every step of the way was easy from using the website to finding the location, checking in and taking the class. Everyone was welcoming and I felt comfortable immediately. This was my first class at Onyx. I have practiced yoga before but fell off for a long time. I felt so comfortable here. It was easy to get back into it. I am heartbroken by Onxy yoga studio. I unfortunately forgot my yogitoes towel, ,mat ,case, bean bag and head band at this establishment. I called to ask the staff to hold all my things for me until I could come to pick them up with my name and number. I made several attempts to pick my things up and they were closed for business every time I came by. When I finally was able to look around I was very offended when the staff suggested I go to a discount store to purchase new yoga equipment :( read more

Onyx is fantastic! I have been a regular monthly member here for about 3 years now and have never been disappointed. All of the instructors are wonderful and take the time to get to know you. For the first 2 years I had only attended classes in the hot room but after a "yoga challenge" decided to try classes in the regular room as well. My wife and I recently started going to this studio. We enjoy hot yoga, but unfortunately, there were no hot yoga studios in the area until Onyx started doing hot yoga in November of 2011. I really like this studio because all of the employees are incredibly friendly and nice. We have been to other studios where the instructors are so pretentious, but this really isn't the case here. That is what I like about this place the most. By no means are we yoga experts, but all instructors have been very welcoming and accommodating to all levels (from beginner to expert). I also really like the hot yoga room, because it is always incredibly clean and well maintained. The only minor, minor (I mean very minor) complaint/feedback I have is that the place can get incredibly packed. But, the reason it gets so packed is because they let people in to the class even when they are late. I don't have as much of a problem with this if the class is empty, but when someone comes in late to a packed class you have to rearrange everything (find them a spot) and this can be very distracting. That's it - in fact, I do like that they try to accommodate all of their customers. I guess it's a tricky situation for them. Regardless, I would strongly encourage anyone who has maybe had a bad experience at another yoga place to give Onyx a shot. They will make you feel incredibly welcome and the instructors truly do not judge at all. This is important to me, because I am far from an expert. Very happy with Onyx! I'm doing the 30 days unlimited and have been trying all different classes and instructors. Everyone has been really good and I'm enjoying the challenge of yoga and meditation. I'm finally getting the art of meditation and total body relaxation. Studio is very organized and clean, staff is always pleasant and it is easy to book/cancel appointments on-line. I held off on writing a review before I took a solid repertoire of classes. I am a tough yoga critic, I will not lie...i've panned a few studios on yelp for their less than dharmic atmospheres. I like things just so- i like classes that are challenging, but not too far above my level. I prefer instructors who are spiritual but don't preach. And just a little quirk of mine- but i enjoy zen like teachers who do more adjusting than chatting. But nevermind my quirks. The beauty in this studio is the breadth of their offerings, the variety of their instructors, and very import to me- extensive programming. I can go early in the am, mid day, or late in the evening. Last but not least, the quality of their mixed level instruction is solid; body and spirit definitely have room to grow here. read more

I've been going here for about a month and felt welcome from day one. I got the $39 unlimited yoga for a month deal, and it's a fantastic value. What's more, they just sent me an E-mail offering a discount on the next two months as well. That said, the classes are great and the yoga studio is always extremely clean. They offer a wide range of classes from beginner to advanced, so everyone can find the right level. My favorite instructor has been Ranjitha, but I haven't had a bad experience with any of them. I can't say anything about the Pilates classes, not having attended any, but the yoga classes are a great value and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

This is one of my favorite yoga studios in NJ and I've been to several. They're very friendly and have some of my favorite yoga teachers who are all extremely competent and enjoyable. I really love the overall vibe here. There's 2 rooms that are good-sized so there's always space in a class and also the studio is very clean. They have a bathroom and changing area as well and sell the basic yoga necessities, including water. There's a mix of classes whether you're looking for a hot more intensive class or something more restorative and relaxing or even something in the middle. Basically there's something for everyone of all athletic abilities. Really some of the nicest people around too. read more

You won't find a better yoga studio than Onyx in the region. They're unsurpassed in the amount of classes, the variety of offerings, and the quality of the teachers. Whatever your energy level, you can find a class to match it. There's meditation, restorative yoga, candlelight, Yin, gentle Hatha, flow classes from Level 1 to mixed level to advanced, warm and hot classes, Kundalini, ashtanga, one of a kind pop-up classes, private sessions, special events, live music combined with yoga, guest lecturers and pretty much whatever else you can imagine. The management has proven they're open to listening to members and trying new things. Onyx even offers an amazing program of teacher training each year. After six years of taking nearly daily classes, the one problem I occasionally have is choosing between overlapping excellent classes with top-caliber caring teachers who all know what yoga is really about. If you want to do yoga in a space that is overcrowded and some of the instructors aren't very friendly, go to Onyx.

I'm currently going for my 200 hour certification to be an instructor and decided to give this place a try for the experience. First things first when I walked in the door the man at the counter seemed like he did not want to be there. When class started the instructor came in with a McDonald's drink...just a little off putting but it was the start of many things that made this very uncomfortable. The music playing was as if it was her personal music on shuffle, not relaxing nor conducive to yoga practice especially when it came to corpse pose (shavasana) upbeat country and random people talking about random things isn't my idea of relaxing my forehead was scrunched the entire time .The class was mainly her saying poses without explanation nor was she physically showing them and when she "adjusted" me into the pose she didn't tell me what I needed to do just pushed me into them which actually hurt a little because now I'm tensing. When she suggested a headstand I knew I could do this at my own pace but she practically bent me around and threw my legs up I was so unstable I felt like I was going to fall and hurt myself at this point I wanted the class to be over not to mention the various amounts of creams used on me without asking especially when she was putting them on everyone's feet that's a little gross. I can go on but you get the picture I do not think I will be coming back if I could give this negative stars I would read more

Onyx Mind Body is a wonderful studio. The studios are immaculately clean, the instructors are patient, caring, and helpful, and the classes are intense. I also like how they send e-mails with free classes to try so you can see if that class is for you. The classes are a little expensive for a college student so it's important to take advantage of the trail classes and offers that they run. Otherwise, it's a great facility with outgoing, friendly people and the classes make you sweat and feel good about yourself. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Onyx Mind Body. The environment is clean and welcoming even the parking is easy and right in front of the studio. I especially love the Dakini Movement that is held at Onyx. It's a wonderful addition to the studio and no matter what your age you feel beautiful doing this yoga inspired pole dancing class. Jeanine is a wonderful instructor. She makes you feel as if you've known her forever and you are instantly morphed into feeling like her best friend. I would definetly recommend Dakini! Everyone's friendly and they try to create opportunities to bring people together like pot luck or TGIF events...etc. Overall good selection and variety of classes and teachers. I truly love this studio. I attended the hot vinyasa flow classes & benefited from them not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Each instructor I have experienced the class with has been amazing and you should never feel uncomfortable about attending as a beginner because they never single you out as one, however they will adjust you and help you as needed which is great. The atmosphere and vibe is just what a yoga studio should be from the decor, to the lighting and smells. I have never left there feeling anxious or chaotic, always refreshed and relaxed and eager for the next class. Whenever someone asks me for a yoga studio referral in the area, I always suggest Onyx. I would have rated this studio with 5 stars, but my only complaint is the price of the classes & packages. They aren't exactly the most affordable for the average person so it is hard to keep a steady practice going. read more
