While you meander among the tents you can listen to fiddlers or singers while sipping coffee from a local coffee truck. The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Maybe they're not used to tattooed, pierced young professionals (who, again, looked like sweaty hot messes). Didn't have to walk too far to the next and you didn't feel like you were on top of people either. Parking can be a challenge if you can't walk far, especially with the main street construction happening near Bull Moose/Tontine Mall (September 2025). Omg, so very delicious. I am a huge sausage snob and eat 90% local. Sad to say most local sausages that I've tried have been on the lean side, so they cook up on the dry side.
