The drive is about half an hour for me but totally worth the drive! She is the best primary care physician ever! She is very patient, friendly, nice, sweet and very professional. Most importantly, she listens to my all concerns and always provides clear instructions or recommendations. I meet with her at least once a year for my annual checkup and for my flu shot. Whenever I see her, she is always smiling. She doesn't judge her patients. She treats all her patient with respects. I would totally recommend her to everyone I know. But of course it depends if she accepts new patients or not :). All the medical assistants and staffs in the office are all super nice as well. If you need lab works after seeing Dr Herbelin-Farrar, there is a clinic down the hall. Super convenient!

As mentioned previously, I've been with the good doctor since she started her practice the EAST SACRAMENTO CONCIERGE practice in July 2021 and before that Dr. Albert Z Owens, her predecessor. Her attention for detail is incredible. After each visit she sends an email that covers everything we talked about, including suggestions and recommendations. Last visit / phone call mentioned neuropathy problems, and she commented about taking magnesium and some kind of acid supplement. Didn't want to bother her concerning the acid, so I checked email and sure enough she had it listed [ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID]. Also, she and her staff are VERY PERSONABLE. In fact, I address her using her 1st name, calling her, "Dr. SCHONZE," because she's so personable. In the past several years, I've had a number of difficult operations, all requiring referrals which she has done/always on a timely basis, including removing part of my colon, special spine surgery [a Posterior C2-T1 instrumentation and fusion w/laminectomy], prostate biopsies and more recently an upcoming hernia repair ... all tough surgeries and she has been very helpful. Also, she and her staff are great ordering medications and handling refills. Can't say enough about her and the staff. They are GREAT!

I used to be able to get appointments 2-3 weeks in advance and even though she cuts her last appointment in the early afternoon, she has graciously stayed behind to take me at 4pm on weekdays. Now, she has a longer patient list so I need to make sure I schedule appointments at least 1-2 months in advance. I originally chose her because I preferred a female doctor who could speak Chinese and communicate with me. It was important for me to have someone who would understand my cultural practices and traditional background. I also liked the fact that she was young, which meant to me that she would be open-minded and actually listen to me as a patient. For the most part, she has lived up to my expectations. She does everything you expect from a doctor and gets your needs met. However, I did have one bad experience a year ago, though no fault of her own. It was either her office system or the Mercy medical group that she is affiliated. You can definitely feel that it is designed to squeeze as much money as possible from patients, making some visits seem impersonal and rushed. This particular incident happened when I showed up for my "physical" appointment that I booked many weeks in advance. I was SEVERELY disappointed by the front staff who looked at me blankly and said, "no it's just an appointment, not a physical appointment slot." It turns out the staff initially making the appointment made a mistake and never booked me for a physical - the appointment notes didn't even reflect this and no one at the desk knew what I was talking about when I checked in. Nonetheless, they made me wait and "maybe the doctor can do it." Nope, not only was the staff wrong and unapologetic, it turned out to be a long wait (she was running behind that day). So, minus one star because it was a waste of a couple hours that could've been avoided if they rescheduled me or better yet, got it right the first time. I eventually did only get seen for that 15 min slot and, yes, I was told I had to make another appointment to come back for a true physical appointment. However, she is a great doctor and I nonetheless convinced my parents to switch their PCPs to start seeing her.

This Sutter location refuses to let me schedule appointments and insists I have to wait months to see my David Lin, my PCP. This terrible location intentionally only offers appointments through PAs to save money, and the PA that does work at this location, Rachel Basulto, gives terrible medical advice and rushes appointments. For example, I have family history with metastatic melanoma (skin cancer). My mother passed away from it, and three other close family members were diagnosed, yet I was told by this Sutter clinic that this doesn't matter and there's no point in worrying about cancer but they would refer me to a derm. They didn't. And then they refused to give me a referral. When I asked other family members, they said all their doctors/PCPs insist they get checked annually by a derm. Funny that Sutter doesn't think I should do the same. During another appointment, I was having chronic neck pain, and instead of listening to me and trying to diagnose me, I was just given a generic printout of helpful "flexibility exercises." lol. ok. Also, when I had a routine physical here, I was told that they scheduled an appointment at the Sutter Lab next door for bloodwork. lol nope. I was lied to and had to go to a different location. Amazing customer service here. Sutter also got my medical records mixed up with another person (doesn't this violate HIPAA? LMFAO) and locked me out of my online Sutter Health account because of it. Avoid at all costs.

A TV is on a health channel as you wait, mildly entertaining. Dr. Rebecca is in an office with her brother. She is fast, but does not make you feel like it's all being rushed...perfect! She acts like she actually cares, and from what I hear that's pretty golden. She also will never dismiss your ache or pain with an "it's all in your head", like my parents have said their Dr.s have. She listens, lets you ask whatever questions you need to, and makes referrals to specialists and for testing until things are ruled out/pinpointed. I always sing the praises of Dr. Rebecca!
