The food is good, but the service and overall atmosphere are not. I've been here about 4 times, and I've never once felt welcomed walking in. The only reason I kept coming back was convenience. After my last visit, I'm done. The difference in how customers are treated is hard to ignore. I've watched staff be friendly and engaging with white customers, then noticeably colder and less welcoming toward Black and Brown customers. It's uncomfortable, and after multiple visits, it doesn't feel like a coincidence. On my last visit, there was a white customer standing behind me while I was ordering. Instead of addressing me directly about my order, the woman at the register looked past me and spoke to her about what I was ordering. That was honestly the final straw. It felt dismissive and disrespectful. I also asked about something not listed on the menu--something that's pretty normal in many Chinese restaurants, especially coming from years of living in and working in NYC, you're used to what NYC spots offer --and the response I got was off-putting, like I was asking for something unreasonable. Came by here to grab dinner and placing a order was pretty quick, but I felt like I waited bit longer than usual to get my food, got worried they forgot I ordered, til I was walking around the place. I will give them they good about giving , forks,spoons and hot oil. They are only place I seen have a dinner special menu on top of the usual lunch menu, and have some good items to it. I got the fried shrimp which was pretty good and the shrimp was still plump on the inside and not shrinked to hell like popcorn shrimp levels. The chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce was tasty, plenty of shrimp and chicken not overcooked or rubbery, plus bathed in sauce. Plenty of fresh steamed veggies in sauce, which was plentiful as well. Another great adventure in fine dining at the Goshen Chinese Kitchen. GCK is like an amusement park of dysentery, where every item on the menu is an attraction that turns your stomach and weakens your bowels. First of all, I had to send back the veggie fried rice because it looked like it had already been served to someone else. It smelled foul, like something had died in it. Had something died in it, I wouldn't have been surprised. It would have no doubt been the fried rice that killed it. Here's a suggestion GCK, VEGETABLES SHOULDN'T TASTE LIKE FISH!!!! That's why there's shrimp fried rice. I thought the Sweet and Sour Chicken tasted pretty decent going down, But coming back up was a different story. A real treat. Come to think of it, the best way to enjoy the rich savory flavors of the GCK's cuisine is to throw it up. It actually tastes better that way. This was my third time eating there, and all 3 times I've gotten sick. Looking forward to going there again....next time I need to cleanse my bowels. If I could leave negative stars I would. Everyone talked about how great the Chinese kitchen was so I talked my friend into going with me to try it out. The place is definitely in a prime location and extremely clean. Staff is very friendly. Food looked fantastic. I ordered chicken and broccoli with white rice and my friend ordered sesame chicken with pork fried rice. My chicken was completely slimy! It was disgusting. My friend said his was just ok. I left the chicken and only ate the white rice. Even that wasn't that great. And on top of it they didn't take Discover so I had to go find a ATM. They're also overpriced. I surely won't be going back and I'm extremely disappointed because of all the good things I've heard and especially reading the positive reviews on here. :-( read more

I work in the area and used to eat here often. Waited 40 min for my order before deciding to leave. Meanwhile multiple people came, completed their transactions and left. Finally when I was leaving the female behind the counter informed me they were about to make my food because one of the cooks was having his lunch. Mind you I was on lunch and wearing scrubs at the time. I worked a 20 hour shift with no food because I unknowingly spent my lunch hour waiting for food that wasn't being prepared because someone else was enjoying their lunch at my expense. This little hole in the wall place has been a part of Goshen for 30 yrs. I brought my children here after dance class at Kennets. It was a favorite "take out" choice for the staff at Arden Hill Hospital. It is run by a hardworking family who is very proud of the delicious food they serve. The kitchen is transparent for any who care to observe food preparation. Another reliable Goshen institution-- you should have these guys on speed dial, right behind 911but ahead of the fire department. These folks serve up only the finest unauthentic take-out Chinese food, always within 10 minutes. One time I called during a peak hour, and the guy on the phone informed me that my order would take "15 mini"...I nearly had a heart attack. Tried this place because our usual in Monroe was inaccessible. It seemed to have high ratings. The egg drop soup had a sulfur smell that grossed out my wife. Luckily she had wonton soup, but said the meat in the wontons was unusual in flavor. The barbecued spare ribs were not that bright red color but they were not bad. My son said the egg roll (shrimp) tasted like it was frozen store bought. The chicken with broccoli had no flavor ..the roast pork with vegetables was very good. The white rice was good and the shrimp fried rice was 4 out of five.. The shrimp were large and plentiful the texture of the rice was different. Was good! Many years ago. The woman on the phone told be $26.06. Then when I get there she told me $33.83. I had the phone on speaker so everyone heard the price went but go more change and she said it was ok , if I didn't have enough which she hadn't even counted it yet gave her $34. Got home me and my mom and I tasted that nasty mushrooms egg too young with no mushrooms and bland fried rice and my mom had the sesame chicken combo she told me to try a piece and it was hard enough to choke a pig! This is my go-to Chinese food restaurant. I'm from Long Island and I don't know if all of the Chinese food I was eating was awful, but one day my boyfriend suggested Goshen Chinese Kitchen. I didn't want Chinese, but it was Labor Day and there was nothing else open. It was amazing. I used to eat pretty regularly at Goshen Chinese Kitchen when I lived in Goshen about five years ago. I know longer live in Chester but my wife and me were in the mood for Chinese so we ordered the General Tso's combination platter with Wong ton soup and a small boneless rib platter. The chicken was hard and dry and I asked for extra sauce and usually got a small cup on the side this time they had no extra sauce and it really needed it.. The ribs were hard and chewy and very dry,usually there is plenty of sauce. The won ton soup had no flavor. I don't think if they served this food in their own land they would not stay open for a day. They used to be very good when I lived here and I can't believe they would serve this food and call it Chinese. I Guarantee no real Chinese person would consider this a real CWonton Souphinese dish.
