So as far as service goes, have say they on the ball here, made sure ask if wanted refills, which you be surprised is a rare occurrence for certain places haha and if wanted to order more. I came here and purchased a lunch special. It was good and the price was perfect for the amount of food. I ordered general Tao chicken and fried rice. The chicken was ok, I like it a bit crunchier but next time I will ask for it that way. I do want to try other items which are on the menu. I would definitely come back. This establishment is a long-time staple in Middletown. They are consistent in regards to prompt and efficient service and the quality of the food. I personally have never had a bad meal here, and my family considers this the best/most solid Chinese food in town. Dining room is a little dark and dingy and could use a good deep cleaning and maybe some updating, but they do have plastic dividers and every other booth roped off to ensure distancing for eat-in customers. The staff are still wearing masks as well. I appreciated these details a lot - it's very respectful of the patrons given the pandemic isn't over, and I think that says a lot about how staff and ownership feels about their customers. My family and I have gone to You You 2-3 times a years for many years (at least a decade or so). The food started off as great (the best Chinese food in the area), about 5 years ago it dropped to good, a year or so to OK and now to bad. I ordered the Chef Specialty Szechwan chicken. It was a big shinny (MSG?) portion. It arrived lukewarm, was bland (no spice), and one of the few bites I took was so awful that I spit it out. The food seemed somewhat authentic with a twist of being extra-deep fried whenever there was an opportunity. Lots of people come here for the drinks which I would recommend. They have lots of drinks and they are well priced as well. Some of them are made a little sloppy, but the pina colada and scorpion bowl are both great options. The portions are good for the price. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've been in. My son loves their beef sticks and wonton soup. I love their shrimp in Lobster's sauce. Their food is always delicious and my waiters are the best. Past week for my wife's birthday we decided to have a wonderful family dinner and as always we were very warmly welcomed. We wanted something different so we went full gear. Shrimp in Black Bean sauce and Beef Fried Rice, my son had his beefy sticks and share our rice. Wow my wife and I truly appreciated our dinner. I dropped in for a late lunch after a stressful day and really enjoyed it. The waiter was the nicest guy with a good sense of humor, which cheered me up. I love egg drop soup and this was the best I've ever tasted! I told the waiter I am on a gluten-free diet and he kindly said there was some wheat in the sauce of one of the dishes. I had sesame beef, which was tasty, and there was plenty of hot tea on a cold day. It was a bit pricey for lunch, but I did order from the main menu. Darling location, a little gem. It takes you back to when Chinese restaurants gave you decor ala orient. The booths are done in Dongyang style wood art carvings. The place is dated decor wise for sure, but the food is good and the staff is kind. The waiter became annoyed when my husband asked him what was in a chicken dish and even laughed at him when he asked if it included an egg roll, like my dish. When the food came out it was not presented the same as it was and the receipts were not the same. This place is pretty pretty decent for American Chinese. I travel through Middletown from Manhattan every Friday night and You You has become a ritual pit stop for Shrimp Egg Foo Young. I have yet to find a place in E. Village NYC that makes egg foo young gravy that is lighter in color and not dark brown. I get that every place is different, but You You makes a tan colored gravy with a hint of five spice, and that's what I like, so I'm a fan. I have tried some specialty rolls. The Crazy Roll is great. However, I found the spare ribs too sweet for my liking. Beef chow fun flavor wise is pretty good, but the one time I tried it, I found the noodles to be too soft. I also tried the tin foil shrimp out of curiosity and I would never order them again. They were neon red/orange, rubbery, and had a non distinct taste. That said, the gentleman at the host station is always super friendly. An extra star just for that.
