Nevertheless, I did take home a bottle of Jeremiah's, which is their wine that's made with concord grapes. It's definitely a sweet wine. I shared it with some people who love the sweets, so I didn't drink as much. Along with wine tasting, they offer wine slushies and little appetizers to purchase, like locally made cheeses, salami, crackers, chips and popcorn. This is not a restaurant, so you won't find a meal. But you can also bring your own food, if you like. During the summer months, they have food trucks on select days.

Along with wine tastings, Ecco Adesso offers their 350 acre farm as a place to explore the vineyards, hiking trails, meadows, orchards, waterfalls and creeks that are on the grounds. I got a wine flight, which included four 2-ounce pours. There are four flights to choose from, and I chose the Old World/New World flight, which had two Chardonnays and two Cabernet Francs. I'm not a Chardonnay person at all, but I'm 100% a Cab Franc person. It turns out, I really loved the Chardonnay! Who'd-a known. That's the great thing about doing a flight: You can try something new and maybe discover something about yourself along the way. I enjoyed my wine flight on the big porch outside of the winery. The porch overlooks the beautiful grape vineyards, and it's a picturesque sight to behold for sure. The porch has big rocking chairs, so you can sit and sip and rock and stare at the scenery. I found that the people who work here were incredibly friendly and helpful. At one point, I wanted to try a little taste of a different wine that wasn't on my flight, and they didn't even blink and just gave me a pour. So nice!

They have milk, creamer, eggs, and one small aisle dedicated to pantry goods. I've been there numerous times when I visit Goshen and forget like... my pillow. Or my bath towel. It's a pretty solid random selection of household goods. Luckily now the town of Goshen has a farmers market that has a bunch of fresh vegetables. The last time we were there they had a great selection of potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and a bunch of other refrigerated veg like squash, zuchini, asparagus and more. Craigsville is really your closest and best bet for some quality meats and country style cheeses. What is a country style cheese you ask... well... I'm not sure how to explain it - but it's certainly not camembert or a triple creme brie lol. The IGA which also has a small gas station out front and has two separate defined portions of the store. If you go into the store and go straight to the back you'll find the meat counter. I think this is one of the biggest highlights of IGA. The meat is local, it's fresh, and the selection is usually pretty decent. If you go in and venture to the right you'll find a dug out portion of the store that's perimeter is lined with fridges and has everything from cold beer to dairy and juices. They also have a hot bar with all types of fried and prepared foods. You'll definitely find chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, fries... you get the gist. Unless you want to drive to Staunton or Lexington - IGA has cornered the market on a handful of things in that area. They also use to sell guns... which I'm not quite sure if they sell those anymore. It is Southwestern VA after all.

Kitchen utensils, toiletries, spices, what-have-you. I stock up on various accoutrements every time I visit. Their beer selection is pretty darn good. They have microbrews and coolers and giant cases of your favorite domestics. They have a hot food counter that always hits the spot. Fried chicken is delicious. Home fries, delicious. Jalapeno poppers, subs, macaroni, all delicious. The best part is the staff, though. They chat with each other as old friends and welcome visitors like myself and my group with nothing short of southern hospitality. The male staff members pretty much insist on helping me out with my groceries, and they do it with smiles. I wish my local market had this kind of social quality. Pulling into the Craigsville IGA always signals the beginning of a great time in the mountains, and I always look forward to the next time I find myself in their happy little store.

Very cute location and be sure to look out for the signs. It was quite windy that weekend so the signs were blown over but easily found our way to the taste room. The main floor was very spacious and rustic. As mentioned earlier, my friend made reservations, paid the deposit, and for the cheese board ahead of time. (I'd recommend doing this ahead of time if you are visiting out of town.) It did take a while for us to get the cider started, but we looked over their options and decided on the cider flight. This cidery was definitely unique and different because this cider is actually dry. I'm used to the sweeter cider side but this cidery was dry and crisp. The cheese plate was attractive and delish. The ONLY thing I would suggest is...less blue cheese. I have nothing against blue cheese, but it was sure a big slice and my friends cannot say no to cheese. hahaha.
