However, while the number of vendors has grown, I didn't spot many selling fruits, veggies or meat. Those that were had a steady crowd. What I did spot today: jarred veggies and preserves, soaps and candles, handcrafted baby items and toys, Berserker cold brew, West 6th beer, desserts by the slice, wooden artwork and food trucks. The farmers market is held near the regular cottages (steel city pops, alchemy, bluegrass witch, etc.) so they'll be open for business too. This was a quick pit stop for our day, approx 30 minutes. If you come hungry they have 2-3 food trucks or booths to grab a snack. We picked up beef lumpia from the Bamba's food truck and sat on the post office steps. There's a few tables around the cottages and we spotted a couple of families laying blankets in the field for a quick picnic.

I haven't found the staff to be friendly, and I didn't get a response to my email about whether the farm house and its beautiful patio are open any time or just for events. The nature trail closes at 4:00 each day which means no after-work walks, and the farm store is quite small. But it's still a special place and definitely deserves 5 stars.

It's a great place to hangout for a bit, let the kids explore, eats farm fresh, literally, breakfast, get some great goodies for the week, and RELAX (it's the weekend). This Farmers Market is large enough to give you everything you need or want, and small enough to walk around and still keep an eye on your kids or quickly find a friend to compare your treasures. I love the breakfast omelet, the music is always good and sometimes really, really good. And the people are always friendly and fun. We purchased two spider plants @ $4 each to revive a hanging basket which is now is thriving. The indoor section features local fresh produce much cheaper and certainly more attractive than commercial retailers. It is also a kick to support our local farmers. There is a big assortment of home-made jams, jellies, candies, honey and other natural food products. They are gearing up for Fall by starting their hardy Mum seedlings. I was on cloud nine walking through the outdoor plants. The plants appeared unscathed by the miserably hot temperatures of the current heat wave that we are experiencing in the area. They had definitely received excellent care. The selection is astonishing. They have a large selection of herbs, annuals, perennials, and ready-made hanging baskets. Browsing through the indoor fruit market is a step back in time. The market has been in business since 1978! Small but chock full of garden fresh fruits vegetables from local farms, locally made honey and jams, locally canned pickled okra and garlic, Amish goods, natural products, and much, much more. Oh, and my favorite, many varieties of old-fashioned candy! The garden center prices beat those of the big box stores and also a few nurseries and garden centers that are closer to our home. The market prices were higher than local grocery and big-box stores, but garden fresh is always better, and supporting local businesses is the way to shop! We needed to replace an old, lethargic spider plant hanging basket and bought two small spider plants that were so healthy and full of pups! Getting in and out of the center was a bit tricky as it is located on the corner of two very busy roads, but it was worth it!
