Great place for my teenage son's cut and perm that is not over the top curly, just the right texture.

We came here because my son's friend highly recommended this salon to my son. I thought it was a bit pricey, but my son really wanted to go, so here we are. We got Tim, a junior stylist, for the haircut. Tim was very attentive and careful. He made sure what my son wanted and kept asking questions to get the right look. My son was a picky guy, so Tim was so patient with him. The staff was very friendly and polite. The owner Jo also offered her mom's homemade cookies to all the customers. The cookies were delicious. After Tim finished the haircut, a senior stylist and the owner Jo went over to make sure all the details were done correctly. My son was very satisfied with his new style, and Jo also gave him some good advice re how to maintain the look and what changes he could do at home etc. The inside of the salon was clean and spacious. I didn't go to the bathroom but I saw bathroom keys on the counter, so I guess their bathrooms are for customers only and are thus likely well-maintained. It was a very pleasant experience at Goshen. I'm back to make a second review! This time is for Jo and their fabulous colorist. I think they change all the employees here.. whoever is running it now seems a lot more efficient & professional! After 3 months of having my hair grow out , I finally booked with Goshen salon stylist Jo.. I send a few texts prior to my appointments.. jo wantd to know my hair color goals. Since I often change my hair color a lot... is crucial to know all my pervious color.. before we start anything.. my pervious color job weren't done as good, & I had color strikes in the middle surrounding my whole hair... jo said I must have use box dye or permanent color for it to happen /; I'm glad she was able to do her magic & and covered that with the current new hair color. I asked for beige blonde... got what I wanted & on top of that my pervious yellow highlight turn into ash blue, which is nice too! Overall, I am very satisfied with my new hair color & hair cut! Wonderful and fast! My boyfriend hasn't wanted to go anywhere else since we first found the place. They do such a good job at natural Japanese/Korean perms, and thinning out his very thick hair. Super clean and gentle atmosphere, I always love tagging along here :) Since they are so good though, they are constantly booked out, so you may want to schedule your hair appointment in advance. I've gone to Goshen a few times now off a recommendation and I would recommend it to others also. I love how I can make appointments easily over kakao and they do take covid precautions seriously here. You get your hair washed before the cut and not after. Some people really don't like this. Jo is the only stylist / owner now and she is mean behind her customers' backs. When you're trying to make an appt, she makes stuck up comments. It's like she doesn't want customers. I don't know how she is able to maintain a business with limited hours and a snotty attitude. The days of this salon are limited. Most importantly, her skills/tools/salon are nothing special. All of the nice/good stylists left a long time ago during the pandemic. With decreased office and residential occupancy in Bellevue, I wouldn't be surprised if Jo has to close up shop within the year. I've been in Seattle area for 15+ years and finding a right hair designer has been challenging for me. Very glad to find Jenny in Goshen, and today is my 3rd time visiting so far. I've had hair cut, hair treatment, perm, and color from her, i am fully satisfied with her beautiful work. She is very professional, thoughtful, and always makes sure she understands what you are looking for. I also like how she is honest and recommends me getting either perm or color regarding to possible hair damage. (Not telling you to get both services at the same time for the money as other greedy hair designers out there...) Very detail oriented, and now i am so happy that i have my go-to hair designer! This was the worst experience that I had in my whole life. The first one was the picture that I showed Christine about what I want. The second one was what she did to my hair after two hair washes. Only two washes, it basically like straight. I went back to them and they did not admit that they have done a poor job, instead they blamed my hair. There was no apology, no refund and I even cannot redo it as it will damage my hair if I do two perms within such a short period. Strongly not recommended! read more

To summarize, I am very disappointed and will not visit again. I had my haircut with Jen today. I showed her a model picture at the beginning, and confirmed the length to be about two inches below my shoulder. However, guess what, the FIRST cut she made is RIGHT ABOVE my shoulder on the back. Not surprisingly, my hair looks nothing like the picture I showed her. Not to mention the style, the length itself is way too off from what we agreed upon. Also, another suspicious observation, she took the entire bundle of my hair from the first cut, which is about 12 inches, and set it aside on the desk, seemingly to keep it for some reason. I wonder if this is related to why she cut off so much of it despite the length requirement I confirmed beforehand. Please read the other reviews before you go. I went to get a trim for my bob hair and toning of highlights by Hara and she did an amazing job! I have quite thick hair and my sides/back were heavy and my highlights were yellow/grown out before going to Goshen. Hara took her time consulting with my needs and what can be done to comfortably continue growing out into long hair. While she worked she also made sure that I understood how my previous look was layered/looked and how what she and I agreed would change it. Having that communication made me very comfortable and confident with leaving my haircut with her - and she sure has excellent skills!! I'm also happy with toner that she helped me choose. Cute Korean salon in Bellevue! A friend raves about his stylist, Jenny so I definitely had to check it out. I was playing my chances with not only going to à New salon but also getting my haircut the same morning I fly out to LA. So I played it safe; two block cut with bangs cut to brow bone length. As straightforward as it sounds, you'd be surprised at how often stylist don't know what a two block cut is. Luckily for me, Jenny did! She was thorough in the consultation, asking my about my preferences in length and how comfortable I am with how close she shaved the sides. But it's not just her, I overheard another first time customer consultation with another stylist and it was very thorough as well! This place is clean and everyone there is professional. Not really impress with my haircut! It was my first time at the salon. The people working in the front were nice.But I didn't meet the stylist first to consult regarding my hair. They just took me to the sink wash my hair. After that I met the stylist and I told her what I wanted and showed her the picture. She did okay but she doesn't know how my hair looks like before washing it. So not too happy about that. After couple days I wash my hair to see if I can style it. I've been to Goshen about five or six times now, got it cut once by Jenny and the rest by Christine. Each time I left feeling disappointed. I've been to many different Korean hair salons (LA, Seattle, Korea) and as a comparison to others, Goshen has been disappointing overall. It's difficult to get a decent appointment time and you probably have to schedule well over a week in advance to get a convenient time. There was an instance where I scheduled an appointment nearly a week before only to find out that the receptionist did not fill me in for the appointment on the day of, resulting in me waiting several more days to get a haircut. The receptionist was not even apologetic about the mistake. She can be curt and seemingly rude at times. I can't really speak much for Jenny but I've been disappointed with Christine's work. I never got the feeling that she cared about providing a great cut. She doesn't ask questions or take the time to find about my preferences or how I wanted to style my hair. Or if I had questions, she didn't really take the time to explain things to me. Every time it felt as if her efforts were half-hearted, just keen to get me in and out the door. My haircuts are simple, but usually the lines on the side of my head are not smoothed out. I think that should be a given based on the steep price they charge. Simply put, $40 (not including tip) for a simple trim is way overpriced, especially for the sub par service and effort. read more

Subtle Subtle and delicate is what impresses me most by goshan. The place: great location; so quite; tastefully put together. Very classy. The hair cut: Jeny asked what I wanted. Which is very nice. Then we both went into our own space. Jeny started to cut my hair quietly. It is not that I would not enjoy a good conversation, but I really appreciate how she leave space for each of us. Some thing I noticed was that they really paid attention to the overall hair cut experience. Every touch of the hair is very soft. The towels and brushes were all extremely. Every touch feels like a breeze. How the hair looks? It was clean and has unique style. It is still a little early for the hair stylist to be creative as it is the first time I went there. I was really lucky to find this salon soon after I moved to Seattle. Though it's a small space, it feels very cozy and relaxing there. All the staffs at Goshen are so friendly and my designer Kate is just the BEST :)!! She's very humble even though highly skilled. She also understands your vibe + what would look good for you. Goshen has been my go to place for a male haircut. The hairstylist always take the time to listen to your request and give recommendations on what style would fit. The amount of care and pride they put into their work is one that I have not seen before but wish more places had. I've been here 3 times now and recommend them to all my friends. They do have free parking as long as you ask for a parking voucher. They also shampoo and condition your hair both before and after cutting. This place is easily a 5/5! read more

I got my hair done with Jeny and she's amazing- she asked me what kind of style I'm looking for, and made suggestions on the hair style I want based on my hair texture. It was my first time cutting my hair short after having long hair for years and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I would recommend arriving early for your appointment as it gets busy quickly. Came in today for the first time and it was 5/5 stars! Called in to make a reservation on Tuesday and was able to book an appointment for Thursday! Score! Although I requested for Jo, she was fully booked so I had another hairstylist. I think her name was Jenny(?). The moment you walk in, it's all about customer service. They greet you all with a warm welcome. I parked across the street at the library because I was unaware they had parking for customers but right when I walked in, Jenny asked where I parked to see if she needs to give me a parking pass for their private parking. Super considerate! First step to haircut was a hair wash. They place this item over your face so you don't get splashed with water which is pretty normal. But the weirdest part was that they cover you up with a blanket! I think this was my first experience EVER where they covered you with a blanket so you don't get wet. Super smart and it kept me warm :D Onto the haircut, I showed some pictures to Jenny and she went onto to discuss and ask a few more questions regarding the haircut I wanted. It really showed she cared. Whenever she want me to lean forward or move left or right, she would nicely ask. Most places would just physical move your head without asking. Every time she was done with a certain part and I could move my head back to the neutral position, she would thank me too. hahaha. With the hair wash and haircut, it was about 35 minutes and the total also came out to $35 dollars. So worth it and my haircut was better than what I expected. Advice: the salon is a unit *inside* a building. Keep an eye out through open doorways, you might just miss it while walking by! The salon is adorably quaint and my stylist, Jenny, is very thoughtful and authentic. She took the time to understand the texture and 'life' of my hair, including learning the habits of my maintenance. My only request was to trim away my dead ends, basically to 'freshen up,' and have a look for easy maintenance. She gave me her thoughts of what we could improve, I bounced back with my feedback, and we reached a shared plan that led to an amazing end-result. Not a lot of stylists can understand my hair type; it's thick in some spots & thinner, coarse, and awkwardly wavy for an Asian. Usually stylists cut layers in a way that always have me working overtime in my bathroom with the straightener blend together the weird-mishap. Jenny knew exactly what she was working with! She understood my hair type, making it clear she has often worked with clients like myself. Next day I washed my hair-- the haircut passed the test! I was not working overtime to fix anything. Everyone is so helpful and sweet. Jo is amazing and provided helpful tips on taking care of my dry hair. She asked great questions throughout the appointment on my hair texture, style preference and even on details like where I wanted my hair to part. She also put in complementary hair essence with keratin! My hair was past my chest so I got a shoulder-length cut. I have been going to Goshen for a while since the business was still in Shoreline. They were closed for a few months because the owner's, Jo went back to Korean. Jo always asked questions before cutting my hair and she will analyze your hair and give suggestions on how to style my hair. My favorite thing is that she always explain how my hair will look like after she is done and how I should manage it (since I always asked for a low maintenance hair cut). My last visit Jo suggest me to get a perm and it turns out great and I really like it. It is not too curly that it makes me look older but just right so that it looks like you just curl your hair with curling iron. My friends keep asking me what time I wake up to do my hair. I was referred to Jenny by a friend and came here for a haircut appointment last week. The first sign something is off is that I was immediately escorted to get my hair washed, so Jenny didn't get a chance to see my existing hair style and feel my hair texture. After the shampoo, I was greeted by Jenny; I showed her a couple of pictures of the style I want and told her I want 1.5-2 inches cut off. She then proceed to cut off around 2 inches from the back. From that moment on, I knew my hair is going to be shorter than what we agreed upon because she still had to do layering. When she's done, my hair is almost 4 inches shorter, and the style is nothing like what I asked for. She then explained to me that she cut and style it this way because of the texture of my hair. Maybe feel my hair BEFORE the cut so we can discuss whether or not I can get the style I want??? I was extremely disappointed with the end result... Also, the website said haircut is $35+; I was charged $70, and no one bother telling me the price before the appointment. Totally not worth it. Don't think I would return. read more

Great experience here, Kate is a fantastic stylist. I wasn't too sure what style I wanted so I just showed a couple pictures and she gave me the style in the way that would look good on me, and advised me on how to maintain it. At $35 for a men's haircut, the price may seem steep on top of needing to make an appointment, but the haircut and experience is high quality, for example they wash your hair before and after the haircut (then redo your hair). Cheaper (or in some cases, more expensive...) places leave you to take care of the cut hair strands after a haircut. read more

Christine really knows what is the best hair style for you! She gave me a hair cut near the end of 2017 and I have got a lot of compliments. Really love it! I originally wanted to do a hair perm and coloring too, but Christine suggested me not doing perm or coloring due to the unhealthy condition of my scalp. I was a little suprised by their honest attitude. Previously I met a lot of hair stylists who would just persuade you to do a perm or coloring or hair treatment even if you did not want to. Christine and her co-workers are friendly and they really care about the health of your hair. I will recommend her to every friend of mine. read more
