Incredible service. The staff is lovely. I had an issue with my insurance company, but they were patient with me during the entire process.

I went to see them on December 24 because of painful sores between all my toes on both feet. The doctor saw me for all of 5 minutes, did not touch my feet, told me to purchase toe separators, and rushed out the door to get home in time for Christmas Eve dinner! I was in terrible pain, and spent most of Christmas Day googling my symptoms, which paid off. I discovered I had chilblains, I followed the advised treatment, and I am much better now. Beware: they make an "automatic 6 month follow-up" which I discovered on the back of a business card in insurance material they gave me when I left! They never mentioned this "appointment" when I left. If I had thrown out the card and not shown up in six months, they would have billed me for a missed appointment! read more

I was told they are in network with my insurance and they actually are not. When i talked to their office they said they "accept" the insurance but are not in network. I contacted Gotham Footcare to express my interest with their Cryosurgery procedure to treat the Morton's neuromas. The Surgical Coordinator replied and asked for imaging information about my issue. I emailed the results of an XR exam, the results of a sonography exam and the results of an MRI exam. There was absolutely no doubt there was a neuroma but, because it was small, only the MRI could detect it. Based on that information, I wanted to know if the Gotham Footcare Cryosurgery procedure would be able to find the neuroma. It was a very simple question and I was expecting a yes, a no, or something in the middle. I got no answer. Instead the Surgical Coordinator tried to sell me a remote consultation, which would have been useless. I asked again and they never replied. It's not difficult to see that this practice is only about charging the patients. read more

It was a breeze making an appointment on their website, which I completely appreciate. I'm not fond of the old school way of calling in to make an appointment because you're put on hold and it takes forever. I like that this clinic is up to date with technology. Also, when filling out their paper work it's done on the ipad and it's super quick. When I first walked in I was surprised by the ambiance as it was spacious, modern, and clean. The people at the front desk were courteous and I was seen right away. I was able to have an xray done to rule out any fractures. After my consultation, physical exam, and diagnostics, Dr. Kim delivered the good news that it was not a fracture. She did suggest I come in for PT, which I did for faster healing. The PT did nerve stimulation and ultrasound therapy for tendonitis. Overall, great place in midtown to go to for your foot problems. read more

After a difficult time scheduling an appointment, I was able to get a spot with Dr. Amanda Riley. Medaline and Evelyn in the office were very helpful with accommodating my annoying schedule and sending me the paperwork in advance so I could save time. Dr. Riley was extremely personable and keen to explain every part of the process. I felt very safe in her care. The other lady at the front desk was also very nice and genuinely wished me well. I would warn against going to this practice -- I fractured my foot and was told I needed surgery. I went to HSS to get a second opinion and the doctor noted I wouldn't need surgery and that these types of fractures heal on their own 99% of the time. I really like the doctors at Gotham, specifically Dr. Sanaz. She had orthodics made for me that make running much easier. I did have an issue with their billing company (MedLoop), but once Gotham's office manager became aware the matter was taken care of. They are centrally located in midtown. One year after getting a hangnail and a small wart taken care of, I am STILL getting bills as they claim that my insurance is out of network (it's not, I have Aetna). I will never ever go here again. *UPDATE: Dr. Cunha called me directly to apologize for the billing confusion, explain why it happened, and gave me his personal number to reach out if anything else came up regarding this claim/confusion. The facilities are up to date and alway nice and clean. BUT, the true reason to come here are the people. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Dr. Kim and Dr. Sanaz both make it feel like you are apart of a big family and everytime you see them is like coming home and being cared for. Annie, one of the technicians and schedulers, is one of the genuinely nicest and most open people I have ever met. These three make coming to the doctor (something I always dreaded) into a welcome experience that I look forward to. If you have any feet issues, please come and see these people. Within minutes of giving my phone number, I was bombarded with texts. After confirming the appointment, I just deleted them so if they had any important information, I didn't get it. Also, I was doubtful about the medical advice. Fortunately I asked a lot of questions before she proceeded with treatment I thought was extreme. So I had hurt my foot and decided to look for a podiatrist near my office. Came across Gotham. I saw Dr Kim and she looked at my x-rays and came back with a boot and told me my foot was fractured. The diagnosis was spot on but what followed was not. They had me coming in for physical therapy that is totally useless on a sesamoid fracture. And I paid a co-pay each time I came in. I was desperate to heal quickly and wanted to do everything possible. Dr Kim was very nice, but I feel a bit misled about how long it was going to take me to heal. I also am an athlete and am very in tune with my body. So I knew when I was ready to transition out of a boot and there seemed no action plan other than you need to stay in the boot until the fracture is fully healed. The boot was causing me more pain in other areas of my body. In the end I had to seek out another sports podiatrist who confirmed my diagnosis and fully supported me in transitioning to good quality sneakers for a period of time. And helped me transition to full activity. The doctor also confirmed the Physio therapy that Gotham had encouraged me to do was completely useless for my fracture. Healthcare should not be a money making exercise. Don't waste your time and money here. I don't believe this is a reflection of the doctor, but of the practice. read more

I'd advise against going to this practice because my experience is that they push a lot of extra services at you, presumably so they can boost their revenue. That's not only a waste of money but also your time, which can be a bigger factor. Given the large number of choices for podiatrists in NYC, I think one can do better. read more

I went to Gotham Foot Care in January even after reading some of the horrible reviews. I saw Doctor Kim(she is actually really sweet), and she took x-rays, had me in a boot in the winter for two months and recommended PT twice a week as well as sensory, and still couldn't diagnose. Finally she recommended an MRI, which my insurance didn't cover because she couldn't figure out the issue. I stop going to Dr. Kim because I saw no improvement on my pain, discomfort, and or resolution. Fast foward to July, the discomfortable became unbearable so went to a Sports Podiatrist in Westchester. I let him know I had seen someone before and automatically knew it was Gotham after I ran through the list of unnecessary treatment and testing done before. He said my foot was fractured and needed surgery. He then tells me that no PT was needed and if they would have diagnosed properly when they saw the fracture in the first x-ray the injury may have been prevented . Today they had the audacity to call and ask me for a remainder of balance I had no idea existed, because as I mentioned I stopped going since they weren't any help in February. Zissy G called me and was unprofessional. I paid the amount because I want nothing to do with Facility. I will be having surgery in August do to them seeing you as a cash cow and not a patient. read more

My colleague recommended Gotham Footcare to me when i had very bad heel spurs last November. Dr. Cunha recommended physical therapy which helped out after just 2 weeks. Waking up and getting out of bed was getting easier again. The other issue I had was a very bad hammertoe. The surgery went very smooth and so far the healing process is as well. Please visit this money-hungry facility. I came in for a second opinion on toenail fungus treatment. Dr. Ramani first tried to convince me it wasn't actually fungus, so she needed a sample. She spent about 2 minutes taking a toenail clipping, and charged my insurance $1200 for "surgery." My insurance company usually allows ~$100 for a toenail fungus biopsy. Plus $980 for our total of 10 minute appointment. Low and behold, it was fungus. I had to call 3 times to get the results, and they tried to get me to come back for a follow-up visit just to hear the results. The doctor nicely agreed to explain on the phone. She tried to sell me on a "cutting edge" treatment for $500 out of pocket, to poke holes in my nail, by telling me laser treatment, which I'm not even a candidate for, costs more. But I was most unimpressed with her inability to explain why I should change to a new ointment. "This is the best one on the market," she said. "How is it different from the one I'm using," I asked. She merely repeated,"it's the best one on the market." Needless to say I have not been and will not go back. I recommend you save your time and find a well-informed, well-intentioned doctor. read more

I booked an appointment with Gotham Foot Care based on the strongly positive reviews of this practice. However my experience is that this practice is focused on billing rather than appropriate patient care. My first appointment was with Dr. Kim on 7/12/18 and my concern was persistent, historic pain in my right ankle. After in-office x-rays, Dr. Kim ordered an MRI for my LEFT foot - telling me that I had nerve damage requiring at least two, ideally three, surgeries to remove the damaged tissue. I was repeatedly asked, and consistently answered, that I had NO pain in my left foot, even when guided to exactly where the pain should be based on the nerve damage. Dr. Kim told me that the nerve damage was affecting my gait and throwing my right ankle out of alignment. I consented to the surgeries and not only did my right ankle not improve, but I was left with chronic pain in my left foot. I attended every follow up appointment with Dr. Kim and consistently shared my feedback with her; she told me the left foot pain was just from "recovery" and did finally order an MRI for my right foot. That MRI showed that I, in fact, have an historic tear in the tendon of my right ankle. Not only is this only treatable via surgery, Dr. Kim advised me that any impact could totally detach the tendon!! Additionally, I received a bill for over $800 for MRI charges. Dr. Kim advised me to email office manager Evelyn Kawalko about the insurance charges, and I have emailed several times asking for a written reply and have received none. Instead Evelyn has phoned me twice - very tense and defensive conversations saying that Gotham Footcare has nothing to do with insurance, despite the whole of the office team and Dr. Kim confirming that they reached out to my insurance on my behalf. When I asked about cost and insurance, never once was I directed to speak with my insurance on my own to confirm details. Further, Evelyn gave my phone number to Dr. Cunha - someone I never met in person - who proceeded to phone me five times the evening of 8/23/18 between 8 - 11pm. Even though I didn't answer, he kept phoning and left just one voicemail to say he wanted to "resolve the matter". He then texted me before 9am the next day and continued to text even when I said I wasn't comfortable discussing this via text and asked for an email reply. To date, I haven't received a reply to my emails to Gotham Footcare and they have not addressed my post-surgical pain, nor is it clear why I have a bill over $800 from insurance. I have referred this situation to the BBB, New York State Department of Health, Department of Medical Conduct, and have had to work with a benefits/malpractice attorney due to my insurance investigating an "at home recovery device" Gotham Foot Care ordered for me. read more

After complaining about some staff not following up on my treatment I was really surprised that the customer service took my complaint seriously. I had a serious case of plantar fasciitis and when I came back for another visit the staff was aware of my condition & needed treatment and was very courteous. I have seen the changes over the 4 next sessions that I needed and would recommend this place for physical therapy. I am now cured! read more

This place is a joke. Do not go here. Well actually, go here if you have nothing better to do with your life and want to waste 45 minutes watching NY1 on an endless loop. First appointment, I waited a total of 45 minutes before the doctor came into the room to treat me. Second appointment, I waited 40 minutes in the waiting room and no one even said a single word to me. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. As I was sitting in the waiting room for my second appointment, I heard the staff attempting to call the doctor on speaker phone because she was not there, and heard them saying things such as "I have no idea where she is" and "She's not answering her phone." Then, I saw with my own eyes the doctor casually stroll into work at 8:22am with a coffee in her hand, when appointments were scheduled to start at 8:00am. My appointment was at 8:15am and at 8:50am, they had not even seen all of the 8:00am appointments. I left without even seeing the doctor because who knows when I would have gotten out of there, and like most people, I have to be at work at 9am and thought by scheduling an 8:15am appointment, I would be able to get to work somewhere around 9am. Not the case with this place. This place is clearly over booking appointments and the doctor couldn't even be bothered to show up on time. That does not really fly in NYC where doctors are a dime a dozen. This place should really get its act together because there were several pissed off patients in the waiting room while I was there, and word spreads when a place is a debacle. My advice: stop overbooking appointments and get your staff to actually show up on time. It's insulting to wait that long and see the doctor get to work 20 minutes after your practice opens when there is a waiting room full of people. Not acceptable. read more

I'm fascinated by some of the reviews. Just goes to show how much experience can differ. I've had appointments here for all times of the day. Early morning, afternoon, evening. I usually arrive early (5-15) and they always take me as soon as I check in. I think only only had to wait for my actually appointment time once or twice. Anyway, what I love about Gotham is that I can count on my visits on being efficiently run and out of there within half and hour. I've had two surgeries with Dr. Cunha with amazing results, and, as a result, multiple office visits for physical therapy. All of the medical assistants have been a pleasure, never rude, willing to chat, and the front desk is always aware of the schedule/ongoings of the office or and able to answer my questions whether be about prescriptions or insurance coverage. Dr. C is very personable and I always find he's in a good mood. He's succinct without compromising the level of information he relays to patients and the time he'll take to listen to you. Maybe that sounds cliché, but I've met too many doctors who enter the room without looking you in the eye or asking you how it's going. I'd send my own mother to Gotham for surgery. I've never regretted my decision to be a patient here. Oh, and as a bonus the office is really beautifully decorated, like stylishly so that's a rarity for most doctors' offices even in NYC. I was first introduced to Gotham Footcare through a podiatry screening with Dr Cunha at my office. I thought he and his assistant were straightforward and I appreciated not having to deflect BS, so I made an appointment. I am so glad I did! I have since used them for a minor problem from running to surgery and physical therapy. From the surgical coordinator to the anesthesiologist to the podiatrist to the assistants- every interaction with the staff has been great- friendly and professional. The energy in the office is positive and even though I have come to believe that reception is required to be rude in many places, that is never the case here. Also, I never have to wait (unless I am late- and I have been on multiple occasions- but even then I wait less than ten minutes) and never have to explain again and again why I am there. When it gets to that point with a doctor I stop going (but I was never in danger of that here). Now for the best part- Dr Lilker! If I could give him ten stars, I would. All-around awesome doctor. He is attentive, straightforward and very knowledgeable. A quality that I respect and appreciate in a doctor is their being able to speak in layman terms and not try to scare me into doing something. For this reason I decided to have my surgery performed by him. I am very glad I did too- my recovery has been problem free (and fast), I have almost no scar and I am kind of sad that I won't have any more follow up appointments, his bedside manner is that great. I wish for everyone they could come across a doctor like him at some point in their life - they would set a higher bar after. Check them out- you will walk away informed and prepared to make the best decision for your care. Edit: I kept putting off writing another review since the people we're quite nice despite them not having adequate podiatry experience. However, two years later after my treatments in 2016, I keep dealing with billing from this place. Despite being told they we're in my insurance, they billed everything out of network. They also kept extending my treatment for much longer than it needed to be and I eventually suffered muscle atrophy. On top of that, they kept pushing that I get an operation, which I did, and post operation, they told me I didn't need it because I was already healed but they went through with the procedure anyway. After all this, I was still in pain and got second opionion to resolve all the problems they gave me. Original: I went to see Dr. Farah Alani in their office down in FiDi at 111 Broadway. Despite this insurance hiccup which took longer to sort out than needed, she still gave me her utmost attention without rushing the appointment. In all my years growing up in NYC, I've never come across a doctor who was more patient and kind than Dr. Alani. She's extremely practical, friendly, and understanding. She was also great at explaining my condition in layman's terms, and gave me a temporary solution as I was going on vacation for over a month and would not be able to receive physical therapy ASAP. I'd highly recommend her to my friends and coworkers, and would go back myself. An added bonus: The office is clean, smells divine, AND she explained how my insurance works and why most doctors don't accept it better than any of the insurance reps I've ever called. read more

I have been a patient at Gotham Footcare for more than two years and while I was always very satisfied with the treatment there, I really feel the need to give Dr. Cunha a review after my last visit: I first went to see Dr. Cunha after I had checked out his ZocDoc profile and have to agree with the many reviews that praise him for his extremely courteous bedside manners, knowledgeable and spot-on diagnosis and professional treatment, all supported by his super-friendly and attentive team - you rock, girls! When I came back this time around with a severely sprained ankle, I was a little hesitant to set foot in his office (pun intended :)), because I got stuck with an international health insurance (which unfortunately has a ridiculously high deductible) after changing my job and got turned away by more than one doctor in the last few months who refused to accept my insurance. The pain was stronger though, so I ended up limping back to Gotham Footcare to get my foot checked out. I was extremely relieved when Dr. Cunha told me that despite somewhat significant (and painful) damage to my ligaments, combined with bruises covering all kinds of shades from a fading blue to an intense purple, at least no ligament was torn. Dr. Cunha suggested I come back for physical therapy, but I politely declined, explaining that due to my deductible I would end up paying it out of pocket - a luxury that because of my current financial situation was not really feasible. Dr. Cunha wouldn't want to hear about it though and assured me that we would work out a payment plan that I could afford - and he kept his word! Finding a competent physician in Manhattan is not that difficult, it is Manhattan, after all. Finding an affordable physician if you don't happen to have the right health insurance, can be tricky. Finding a physician that on top of all that genuinely cares about the wellbeing of his patients is really hard to come by, but you might get lucky if you go looking for him at Gotham Footcare :) read more

Dr. Farah Alani , When I work to the office I felt really bad i have pain and can't walk because my ingrown nails and when I saw Dr . Alani she explain me procedure and make me Analgesic injection so I don't have anymore pain and whole procedure takes very little time but I felt much better and the next day I already walk like I don't have anything done. I can't say enough about Dr Lilker . I came in with an infection on my toe , with in minutes he relieved my pain immediately and helped with the nail . THERE ARE ABOUT 100 PODIATRISTS IN MIDTOWN, CHOOSE ANY OTHER ONE! I never bother writing negative yelp reviews except in instances of gross incompetence. This is actually my first negative review that I can recall. I was given orthotics by Dr. Kim that not only were not constructed with the proper lift, but now make one of my feet feel as if it is broken. I am now, and have been for more than a week, walking with a limp and she has not responded to emails or calls. I have called the office almost everyday this week and still have not heard anything regardless of how nicely I ask for some sort of guidance as to what to do. I have actually never dealt with a doctor who has been so unresponsive in my entire life. I have since found another podiatrist who confirmed that the issue I am having is due to the construction of the orthotic (which I paid Dr Kim $500 for btw) and Dr Kim's failure to compensate for the difference in my leg length (for which she took measurements). I now need to buy all new orthotics at my expense. This new doctor has told me that if I stay off of it I should be able to be walking without pain in a couple of weeks. So to recap, thanks to Gotham Footcare I am out $500 and can't walk without severe pain and no one who works there can even be bothered to respond to me with any advice as to what to do. Before I even came into the office, I was impressed with the level of humanity offered by this center. I had been having difficulties communicating between various offices and my insurance, and even though the reception at Gotham Footcare found that the doctor I wanted to see no longer worked in my insurance network, they agreed to work with it anyway, leaving me only my copay. I wanted to see Dr. Cunha because of his excellent reviews on ZocDoc, and he still managed to surpass my expectations. He is extremely friendly, sympathetic, and professional, and guessed the harmless source of my ailment on the first visit before confirming it with a biopsy by the second visit. The reason for my visit was extremely sensitive to me, and had been a source of shame and anxiety since infancy (which, by the way, no doctor had managed to figure out until now). He handled it in the professional manner I expected from a doctor, and with all the human kindness I only expect from family. I was extremely moved, and should I ever need to see a podiatrist again, it will undoubtedly be Dr. Cunha. read more
