To begin, me and my four other friends decided to eat at this establishment. We were a group of five and they were quick with sitting us down, not even a minute for our group size. The waiter then went on to explain how the ordering system worked and we began searching through the menus. My other friend and I ordered at the desk, the other three ordering online. The line for ordering at the desk took about 15-20 minutes and there were three other people in-front of us. We order our food, sit down, and wait for our orders. 30 minutes pass, about 6:40pm, one of my friends that ordered mobile gets her milkshake. This milkshake came in the same mixing cup shakes are made in, had grin on the cup, and the milkshake had chunks of unmixed ingredients. Additionally, we had not gotten water at this point, thinking it would come right as we sit down, so we asked for some for the table. The glasses for the water also had grim in them and had looked like they had not been washed. 10 minutes pass two of my friends get their kids cheese burgers, about 40-45 minutes into the service. However, the waiter comes back with an additionally kids burger. Putting the context clues together, my friend who had ordered online had some connection issues and had ordered two of everything. She explains this to the waiter, but he sends her extra burger back. 10 minutes pass again, about 7:00pm, and I get my chicken burger while the rest get their remaining drinks. My friend who had ordered double discussed with the waiter that the food he had brought previously was in fact hers. He asks for anything that can justify her claim, and she explains to him the process at which she ordered. The waiter then explains the online ordering system is quite tricky and mistakes happen. My friend says that that's fine but she does in fact want the extra food she paid for.The waiter elaborated that he doesn't know how to help, so she asks for the manager because he would be knowledgeable on the subject. The waiter calls the manager and he comes in with an attitude. Immediately asks for our receipts, no greeting or anything welcoming. He came with my chicken burger and repeatedly asked me if i was sure i ordered this and if it was mine. She shows him the receipts, and the rest of us tell him her missing out fries, three of us including me. We're staying respectful with our questions, but he then starts to tell us to "calm down" and "learn how to communicate ". We do not respond at these comments and just show them the receipts. We ask for him to bring the fries to go because we had to be at a meeting place in 5 minutes. He comes back, no to go box and just the fries. We ask again for the to go box and he tells us to calm down. Keep in mind, we were all staying respectfully and letting him speak. He had been cutting us off and commenting on how we're speaking. He comes back with the boxes and we leave the restaurant, half of us not being able to eat our food and most of the orders being wrong. read more

Truly awful from the word go - we arrived mid week, early evening and the place was all but deserted. We made our way to the counter to order where the teller was unable to help as he was busy and we had to wait. After a ten minute wait we tried to order again when he barked at us that we needed a table. We tried to sit at the rear of the restaurant but they were trying to get us to sit at the table next to the door - we refused as it was cold and eventually took a table near the cash desk Sadly our experience didn't get much better. As I said the restaurant was quite empty at this stage and there were only two of us ordering. The waiter brought over a salad and as I didn't know if my partner had ordered it I wasn't clear if it was for us - the waiter didn't know either and took it back! It resurfaced later. Our burgers were OK although they weren't quite cooked medium as described. While we had our meal the place got very busy and people were queuing up outside. To be honest if we hadn't have had the 2 for 1 voucher we probably would have left and gone somewhere else. It was OK but I have had better (Hamburger Union is a much better set of restaurants that really do cook nice burgers - and they originated the whole gourmet burger concept). Got the Salvador. My gf for the Bacon Pastorella chicken sandwich. We also split sweet potato fries and an onion ring tower. Sweet potato fries were crispy and hot. I looked at a lot of these reviews and noticed somewhat of a pattern. Those with European passports seem to love this place far more than Americans on balance. I believe there's a reason for that. Im not going to claim that I know what burger standards are like in the entire UK because that would obviously be incorrect. What I do know, however, is that I have had many many better burgers across the US. I live in Las Vegas, arguably the burger capital of the world, and I think it's safe to say that burgers have a cap on how good they can really be, and while I think Ive met that cap at Burgr and Holstein's, I don't think GBK is close enough. Ultimately the burgers are just good not great- they fail to really take the extra mile in developing flavors with their meat. Plenty of unique toppings and selections but at the end of the day they just add noise instead of substance. The fries are forgettable, all variations of them. And, what appetizers I did have were nothing more than fried protein seasoned decently well. I mean this all to say that none of the food is bad but it's not great, and with all the competition to be found in the burger industry there just isn't enough there to merit a repeat visit. Okay that's a lie. There was one reason- the honeycomb milkshake... Holy ( . )( . ) I had a taste of some of their other milkshakes and they were typically nothing special. But this one was unbelievable and probably one of the best milkshakes Ive had period. Stop by for a dessert shake, but there are better burgers to be found elsewhere. read more

There are many places offering burgers in town and you will find yourself inexplicably eating one living here. Kiwi burger Beef, beetroot, egg, pineapple, aged cheddar, salad, mayo and relish. £8.95 When I find myself at GBK, I always find myself ordering the kiwi burger. The beetroot, egg and pineapple always draws me in and blinds me to anything else. It's a decently good burger and definitely tastes better than say going to the Golden Arches. At least I get beetroot, egg and pineapple. You also get to contribute 25p to charity and help save the kiwi in Whakatane. read more

The burgers are always fantastic-i love the blue cheese which you can have with a slice of Gorganzola, rather than nasty dressing. Good burgers, decently priced, simple decor - this is a really chilled place to enjoy some tasty fast- food. There is a wide range of burgers to choose from: Wild Boar, Buffalo, Organic Lamb, Chorizo, Beef and Chicken (which come which can be eaten with a host of sauces). I guess this is a pretty big franchise over in England but it didn't feel that way as in, the place and the food didn't feel or taste like something that came off of some conveyor belt and squeezed into to hamburger mold. I'm generally a fan of GBK. They have lots of variety and, as a vegetarian, I have plenty of choices. The service at this particular GBK was really hit-and-miss. The people were really friendly and pleasant. I like that. But they got most of our order wrong and had to fix several things. To their credit, they did fix everything, but what the heck? I mean: we ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 diet cokes. There's just not a lot to get wrong. I ordered the rosemary fries, and they brought regular fries. When we pointed that out, they took them away and came back with "rosemary fries". I swear it was the same fries with some sprigs of rosemary thrown in. Really? Is that all it is? Because if that's all it is you can keep it and I'll have regular fries. When they brought our food we had to point out that we didn't have our drinks yet, so they brought the drinks. I'm not a fan of the super thin fries. That's a style choice on their part and I'm not keen. It all tasted good, though. read more

I've been to several Gourmet Burger Kitchen restaurants and found this one a lot quieter than the others. The service was fine if a bit cold and the food wasn't outstanding but perfectly good. If you manage to print off one of their vouchers for 2 for 1 then it would make this a better choice of destination. We went on a Friday night around 6PM, the place was nearly deserted. As I'd been to other GBK outlets I knew how to order, but for those that haven't I saw no signage anywhere, and without the tables being numbered it's unclear to a lot of people. But overall if you've had a look at their online menu and something particularly tickles your fancy, go monday - thursday with a 2 for 1 voucher in hand and you shouldn't go far wrong. read more

I visited with my 11 yr old son after a day walking around the science museum, & found the staff to be extremely friendly, the environment to be very pleasant & the overall experience to be enjoyable. Very impressed with this branch of the gbk, we went in there mid afternoon on a Saturday and to begin with things went a little wrong they lost our order and we had to go back up to enquire what was going on after 20 minutes. The response was brilliant they gave us olives and nuts to keep us happy whilst they got on with order, which came quickly, and then they gave us a round of free drinks! Very impressed! They even offered us another round which we declined but the attitude of the staff was spot on. The food was also good as it always is at gbk not outstanding just very good lovely sauces in the burgers, good veggie options, well grilled burgers, awesome onion rings, good chips. Love this place, so if you feel like having a burger pop in and choose from the amazing burger menu they have. Simple, yet amazing. Service was fast, not the friendliest one to be honest. There was this weird moment when we ordered a bottle of wine and we got water glasses with it. Asked for wine glasses but our waiter brought bigger waiter glasses. We thought they didn't have any (which was kinda shocking), but when we were about to leave, it turned out they did, it was just our waiter didn't speak a good english. Came for dinner with friends on a Saturday evening and it was understandably busy. I don't mind their unusual set up of being sat by a hostess and then queuing up to order my meal, but I thought waiting over 20 minutes just to put in my order was a bit excessive and slightly annoying. Also the place was steaming hot, I hate to imagine what it is like in the summertime! When the burgers arrived they were far from mind blowing and on par with some of the higher end burgers you can get a most fast food joints these days. I had the bacon and cheese burger which had the saddest, tiniest piece of skinny bacon on it that I have ever seen. The meat was nothing to write home about. The skinny fries were tasty as were our onion rings and milkshake (I got the last one before they ran out, much to my friends disappointment). Value for money is lacking here a bit. I would have felt ripped off had I not had a voucher. Combined with the waiting time, I could have had a nicer meal elsewhere, been served quicker and paid half the price. Next time I fancy a burger I am afraid The GBK will not be my first stop. read more

Well who doesn't love a burger eh? You can't really go wrong, with a patty of beef between 2 slices of bread, very British. Ok that sounds like a sandwich. But the point remains. Who would have thought that you could create so many yummy flavours from something so simple! We went here last for a little birthday soiree for one of my best friends, 8 or so of us. We managed to grab a table at the back of the restaurant, which is good for the other diners becuase we make a lot of noise! In summary, these are my thoughts about this place: - Great variety of choice. I had a chicken satay burger (whoe doesn't love a peanut!) but each of us had something different that I would have happily eaten instead. The lamb burger with mint went down particularly well! - Price is average. I didn't feel overcharged but trendy burger joints are popping up all around London now and they give GBK a run for its money. None of them are chains though... - FREE MONKEY NUTS! This might be the most excited I've ever been about free nuts! You go up to a hessian sack and take out the big scooper to collect the nuts in little bowls that you can shell yourself. How is something that simple SO exciting! - Free water on the side too! They try and jazz it up with mint and lime, but at the end of the day it's just nice being able to help yourself to water without having to wait for slow staff - Counter service. I don't mind this (long as there isn't a crazy queue) but it needs to be reflected in the price. Not sure this is. All in all, I give this 4 stars because it was good, quick service at 7pm, we got a table without booking and we had a great time! Not sure the other diners did though... whoops read more

Having been in London for almost a week, I find that the tastiest food I've had so far is the blue cheese burger at GBK. In my first bite, the taste of the freshly seared beef just made me sit up and take notice. I haven't had a burger this good in a long time. The fries were thick-cut, crisp, and steamy moist inside. Love! Love! Love GBK. It's definitely my go-to place for burgers. I love the fact that there is so much choice on their menu - pork, beef, chicken, lamb, veggie and even fish (the Captain Cook is my favourite - and what a generous portion too!). I tried the Persian Lamb for the first time - really delicious (lamb, Harissa, minted feta cheese, pickle and I could definitely taste the cumin too) with skinny fries. As I was feeling quite hungry, I also went for the chocolate shake with Oreos...yummmmm!!! I was also lucky to get a free Kiwi-burger (as I have the GBK app) - bonus! I would've gone for the 3 star option, but folks have raved about how good the burger here is and quite honestly, it's just a burger chain that doesn't want to be a burger chain sort of sandwich. I don't think reviewing any over-hyped over-stuffed burger works, so it was the standard cheeseburger to test the mettle of this rendition. Someone called their gritty. Not what I want to hear from a burger, the condiments were not bad, visually it's alright and the bun is pretty nice to look at. Flavor wise though it's standard. I'm not going here for a craving when burger time hits. I guess the best way to state it is, the place is worth trying, but not worth going back to if you're looking for the best of. Oh my gosh, I can't believe I waited so long to try GBK! I had looked at their menu before but had failed to see the 'ask us for our gluten free menu'. I was expecting to go in for a salad (which would have been find as their salads are delicious), but then I saw they had gluten free buns and I couldn't resist. Firstly, the gluten free buns are delicious, soft, spongy and not dry at all. I had the chicken, cranberry and camembert burger which completely blew my mind it was so good. I also tried their chunky cut fries (gluten free but cooked in oil with gluten containing products) which were really good (and their truffle mayo sauce... yum!) My partner had a Kiwi Burger which he said was really good, although he also had a gluten free bun (despite not being coeliac) and he wasn't a big fan of the bun, but he did say he liked how since it was much softer than normal buns the sauces mix with the bread better and the bread almost absorbs the taste of the sauce. He said the sweet potato fries were delicious too (though absolutely not gluten free). Overall i'm mega super duper impressed with GBK. It's a bit on the higher side but I guess it's more restaurant than fast food. I'll definitely be back though, so much more to try on that menu! read more

Lovely little restaurant down a little alley, it has a nice cosy atmosphere as soon as you walk in and you do feel incredibly welcome by the staff straight away. We were sat down within 20 seconds of walking in GBK and were given menu's instantaneously, we were told the offers that were currently on and were then left to decide what you wanted to eat and drink. The odd thing about GBK is that you have to go up and order what you like rather than the waitress coming to you however I didn't really mind. The only problem tat occurred when ordering was a mix up of side orders however that was all sorted out when the meal came. We were also given free monkey nuts that we could tuck into before our meals came, which we did and were rather enjoyable. The drinks then game promptly followed by the food a short 2 minutes after so the wait was extremely minimal. I received my cheese and bacon burger that was absolutely delicious with a side of chunky fries that were tasty too. With a meal for 3 people coming to £42 (£45 by the time we added the tip) I think it was pretty good value, sure you would get more for your money at burger king but with GBK you get a quality gourmet burger that you can't certainly get at any of the fast food chains. This price was also cheaper than most places we looked at before, especially places like TGI Fridays that was only down the way. Visited GBK with some friends as we had the 241 voucher. Was quite busy, but no wait for a table. Had a look through the menu and ordered at the till. No problem offering the voucher - noticed other tables were using them. Had the Veggie and Camembert burger, while my friend had the Falafel and we shared chunky chips. Mine was really good, but hers was very dry. Option to add other toppings is good, though I'm not sure how they could have fitted anything else on my burger as it was stacked. Liked that they offered more unusual meat like Buffalo and wild boar, in addition to scottish beef. They also offer smaller burgers, which would be a good option if you're not starving. Also offer salads and varied drinks menu. Good value if you use the 241 voucher, otherwise a bit pricey for fast food. read more

Really excellent. Staff have always been friendly even when the place is packed and the burgers are delicious. There's not a whole bunch else I can say about it really. They've a big selection and you can customise your burger by adding or removing as necessary. £1+ for sauce is a bit cheeky but not uncommon elsewhere, and I would like if the brioche bun that comes with the more expensive burgers was at least an option for the others.
