Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Westfield Stratford City is TINY! It is one of the many branches of GBK in London, and for a busy, mall location I was really surprised at how small it was, especially with demand bursting. On the day I planned to visit, it was really busy with long queues to get in, there wasn't a member of staff going down the queue to thank people for waiting, hand menus or do anything, basically, the staff didn't care until you were in the restauraunt and sat down, and even then service seemed poor. As with any GBK, the burgers are quite overpriced between £8-£10 without any sides or drinks, with a milkshake alone costing an extra £4.90 which I find to be ridiculous. The overall feel of the place again as it was too small for a busy mall location, it felt too compact despite the modern refurb which all GBK stores seem to have had over the past year or so. This place really isn't big enough, and the staff don't seem to care about the customer experience, even down to queuing at the tills with only one person working (no space for more people?), it means you'd have to wait longer again, which for me just isn't good enough. 1* read more

I love GBK. 30% student discount, fast service, great food, free refills and excellent shakes. There are endless things to love about it. I even like the decor. Generally I order either a classic burger or a dippy hippy (off menu vegan burger) with a side of skinny fries, homeslaw and an elderflower fizz. With the 30% discount this comes to about £10 and if you're a GBK member, you can collect points which can be redeemed for food. I've also finally managed to snap a picture of the fabled Dippy Hippy vegan offering. Itsw a monster stack of grilled aubergine & pineapple topped with sprouted seeds, peanut sauce and a slice of tomato. Pricey at £7.65 but a lovely treat for those who may be sick of bean burgers. The service here is fast and friendly and like all GBKs you can help yourself to free peanuts and citrus water. Snap snap snap, get to it before I devour everything and you starve. read more

Location: Located at Westfield Stratford City, one of London's largest malls located in East London. The Tube station is right underneath the mall, so getting there is a breeze! GBK is located off of the main food court, so it gives you the idea of eating a "restaurant". Atmosphere: A very casual environment. Service: You're shown to your seat, you go up to the counter and place your own food order, and then the food is delivered to you. Our food took a little while to be delivered, but we were told because all burgers and sides are made to order, so it might take a little longer. Food/Drink: However, I really wish that longer wait would have been worth the wait. I ordered the Blue Cheese burger, cooked medium, with a side of Chunky Fries. I wished the burger had had more Gorgonzola cheese on it; there was so little of it, it seem non-existent and it made me wonder if I should have opted for the blue cheese sauce instead. Also, even though I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, I think they only know two ways to cook: medium well (how mine was cooked) and well done (how my two friends' burgers were cooked, per their request). I've been here before and had the chilli chicken salad and it was great - as it should be for a salad that costs nearly a tenner. Today I came and had the same thing and it arrived with hardly any lettuce. It was basically a plate full of chicken. When the waitress came to ask if all was ok, I told her that I wasn't really happy with my salad - it was barely a salad at all because of the lack of lettuce (or much else that wasn't chicken!) Her english wasn't particularly good so she didn't know what I was actually getting at. She kept saying "it's chilli sauce" and I said, "yes, that bit is fine. It's the lack of lettuce leaves that I'm concerned about." She clearly didn't have a clue what I was talking about so she just walked away. Every time I go here, it has always been good. Skinny fries are awesome and the burgers are great. Love the shakes, must try if you can fit it in. I prefer here to the other ones because they serve with a good bun and the burger is simple. restaurant vibe is relaxing also. read more

I try my best to not be a typical American, but here I am a burger joint at a mall. I'm here for work, being easily accessible by train was key. The food is fine. The burger was prepared well. The five stars comes from the experience with the staff. Despite my inability to communicate(I blame being tired and hungry and also unfamiliar with terms as well as being glamoured by the accent of our charming hostess), I was able to receive my order quick enough to meet my friends downstairs for a quick bite. Every meal I've had here has been awesome. Both visits would warrant more stars in terms of food and service, but I'm knocking off stars for what happened the last time I was there. I was enjoying my GBK veggie burger and side of sweet potato fries when I saw some workers wheeling in the kitchen's latest delivery. This wouldn't really be a big deal if I hadn't seen bags of frozen sweet potato fries in the cart. I'm usually pretty optimistic about my food in restaurants but I'm not stupid; I know they don't make everything by hand. But I honestly like to have the illusion that those fries I'm eating didn't come frozen in a plastic bag. I visited this restaurant last week with my mum. To be honest I was very sceptic about going into this place because I am not a fan of burgers. My mum convinced me to go because she tried it few weeks ago and she loved it and she was right. She helped me pick and we both chose the Vegitarian Burger with aubergine and goat cheese because we were both on a diet. I have to say this was the best burger I have ever tried. The chips were really good, too. And they give you mayonaise and water on the house. It's more expensive than Nandos but it is worth it. I will recommend it to everybody. read more

This location was also very good! Succulent burgers tasty sweet fries and of course their cloudy lemonade!! All yum. Even the salad was amazing. The sauce to the sweet fries can taste like a heart attack so you may want to lay off of it lol. I was so stuffed but please dear lord open a location in New York I'm begging you!! read more

I was a bit hesitant to try this place as it only received 3.5 stars, however the food is fantastic! This was one of the best restaurants we tried on our trip. I have to say the stars are not for the food as the food is amazing as always but for the service. We had to stand and wait for about 20 mins even tho it was quiet. Then after being greeted by a gentleman who clearly didn't want to be at work he showed us to our table. Stuck in the corner with no room, I asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tables that was around and was told no. There is two of you. The attitude the staff suffer with is clearly something to put me off this specific gbk but I shall still go to the one at canary wharf as much better service. read more
