Gourmet Burger Kitchen uses fresh, gourmet ingredients that are of high quality. Their milk shakes are thick and delicious, made with real ice cream. They offer vegetarian ranges, as well as buffalo, chicken, Moroccan Lamb and Wild Boar. There is very little service here, as I suspect they expect you to place your order and then take care of yourself after that. This is fine by me. When the food is this good, I don't need anyone waiting on me. I'm busy eating my delicious cheeseburger. I had Gourmet Burger about a year ago at the branch near St. Paul's and remember being extremely unimpressed, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this location. The burgers are huge, thickness is just right, juicy, toppings are fresh. Fries are thick cut, but crunchy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. The people were also very nice. Hmm... The food at GBKs is fantastic. Combined with the student discount, 5 star food and prices, no question. The pesto burger, habanero burger, and blue cheese burgers are all fantastic and so overloaded with toppings that drip over that ordering dips for chips is superfluous. I did, however, once have a bad service experience here. GBK offers a 40% discount to students, but one must acquire a GBK student card which are available at select (but as far as I can tell unpredictable) locations in limited number. I got sneered at for asking what locations might have student cards as this one didn't, and was told they "never get them at this location" with an unmistakable sneer and annoyance. (oddly enough, 2 weeks later, they DID have student cards here - so our sneerer was misinformed) Since then, I"ve had some great customer service experiences, but this one sticks out enough that it is costing GBK a fifth star. read more

Don't be put off by this restaurants chain-like status. Serving wholesome meaty burgers, delicious hot fries and soothing creamy milkshakes, I think this is one of the best burger restaurants around. On one of my first visits, I had excellent service ( if not a little slow - but due to the amount of people in the restaurant at the time, I think this was acceptable), the menus were well arranged, so I could choose what I wanted quickly and without fuss, and our meal came with only a short wait. I ordered a banana milkshake as well, which came freshly made and tasted delicious. To eat, I had the bacon and avocado burger, which was a welcome change to the greasy mass-produced burgers in other chains, the meat was pleasingly juicy, and the burger overall was thickly made. A group of us had an Xmas party where we went bowling in Whiteleys. We heard that the food wasn't particularly good in there, so headed down Westbourne Grove. All of the restaurants along the way were fully booked (it was a Friday night), the rain coupled with me and my female friend complaining that our feet were hurting in our heels; the boys suggested GBK. On entry, the interior was modern and clean. We had a large table at the back, perfect for a group of people. The waiter was helpful, the menu had quite a selection of different burgers. We didn't have to wait long until we tucked in. I have to admit, I was particularly unadventurous and choose a junior beef burger (not just for kids!), as the main burgers looked too large for me. The beef is top quality, and the range of choice is excellent; they even cater for vegetarians, and frankly, their falafal burger is one of my favourites. The service is good (although be aware that you order and pay first at the bar). I am originally from New Zealand so I personally love the range of NZ-brand beer and wine on offer, and overall the prices are pretty decent - for less than a tenner, you'll be able to completely stuff yourself. Wandering through Portobello on New Year's Day, I suddenly became ravenous. You know how it is, mid afternoon, the hangover's wearing off, and the stomach's demanding food. Bad food. By which I mean tasty food. And then I saw it, glinting in the distance like a siren. GBK. It's more than an invitation. I went in and ordered a vanilla shake (served in a huge steel mixing cylinder), and a regular burger (all for under ten pounds). Nothing added. I did this because every now and again you have to taste the beef. And the beef was amazing. I like the way you can specify how you want it cooked, which means they use proper cuts of beef to make their burgers. And oh my, as my first meal of 2009, it didn't disappoint. Came here for lunch and dinner on multiple occasions, and their medium cooked burgers were different levels of amazing. The thickness of the burger patties vary from time to time and it affects how "medium" they are, but I guess that just means that they really are hand shaped and not machine made. Although their burgers were great, I can't say the same for their fries. The food is good (although I found the ciabatta bun on which my burger was served to be a bit soggy on the bottom), and 2 cokes, 2 of the more expensive burger, chips and a salad came in around £25. The place is relaxed, clean and tidy, and the view of the people wandering by on Westbourn Grove is entertaining. I've only been here when its quiet, and it is really deceptively big. It's all about the excellent quality and making people feel like their money has been well spend, without the fiddly BS that other places often promise and rarely deliver on. The burgers are superb, I always get mine medium rare and if you dare to get that side portion of chips - you HAVE to try the garlic mayo, it's hands down the best garlic mayo you will ever try. Macs Gold is a perfect beer for those who have yet to try iNZ beer and the milkshakes are to die for.... Been there a couple of times ! But always a bit disappointed, so yes the burgers are huge, however as a meat lover, I like my meat blue. As they can't do less than medium, I asked for a medium, adding that I really want my meat red and juicy. And as the first time, meat was way more than medium (it was well done!) which makes that every time it didn't finish... For the price of the burger (around £7 if you pimp it a little with different sauces) I think it is too bad to go there if you really are a meat lover before a burger fan! The good sides of this chain are that the milkshakes are succulent, and the skinny fries are awesome (I think there are the only fries I have ever finished even with a burger just because they are delicious!!). read more

Gourmet Burgers are a high end Burger King - although the way BK is going you can expect to be paying £8.00 for your meal any day now. That is just like the price you'll be expecting to pay here, so maybe you can wait until Burger King increases.. or not. on the expensive side, but SOOO good. the burgers here are incredible. i always get a cheeseburger and have found that the junior burger is really the way to go unless you are starvinggg. the normal burgers are incredibly tall and i find i can only make it through half of it. chips are nothing special, but their chocolate milkshakes are fantastic (though overpriced). yeah, basically i hate coming here cuz i know i'm spending way too much money but i can't help it. tastes too good! i had a coupon in december for "buy one, get one free" burger which is a steal since the burgers are NOT cheap. check out their website for potential coupons! last time i went, service was horrible! i had to get up at least four times to track down my chips, some cutlery, and some vinegar. still not enough to turn me off gbk, but the poor service & prices are enough to knock gbk from 5 to 4 stars in my book. read more

This a nice little place. All they do is burgers and theyre great at it. I are there in december of last year and had the lamb burger. It was amazing, juicy and held together pretty well considering its lamb. Their chips are amazing, really genuine home made style chips. I would eat there again. read more

ok let's face it, eating a hamburger is something that most of us love to indulge in time and again. But finding a good hamburger is another story and obviously McDonalds, Burger King & co. are not an option unless you are really desperate. GBK has executed very well on a simple idea to offer a wide range of freshly made and imaginative hamburgers in London. There are several branches and the Westbourne Grove one is the local one for me. Although the range is amazingly large (including various veggie hamburgers which are clarly pushing it a bit), I stick to cheeseburgers and hamburgers and the result is consistently good. The fries are not bad either. It is more of a take-away for me but the settings are ok. They recently opened one on Portobello Road and I am in 2 minds about that, decent food on one had but another chain outlet on the other hand read more

If you are staying in the Bayswater area this is a great place to have a bite to eat. First off, they have great customer service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted which is a huge plus in my book. I ordered their Californian Veggie burger and sweet potato fried. The burger was really good and loved that it wasn't totally uniform and still contain some whole beans. The overall flavor was great and I'm a sucker for sweet potato fries. Even while I enjoyed my food, different staff came out and asked how everything was. Out of the many places I have eaten at so far in my stay in London, this place goes out of their way customer service wise. If I could give 6 stars for customer service alone, I would. read more

Absolutely nothing special. You'd expect to be blown away by both the presentation and taste, but instead you're left with nothing more than a full stomach. The selection of burgers isn't bad, but the two or three times I've been (not by choice), it's been incredibly bland. Service is almost non-existant as well and it's certainly not cheap. Worst place ti get a delivery from . They food will be cold and burgers dont taste good cold at all . The order was in complete when rang was told you can have yiur money refunded in 5 days. When yiu soend 20 odd pound on a chicken burger and a single milk shake ; you excpect a decent burger and a good service . Also if mistakes are made should be rectified there and they .
